Fantastic two week stay at Domaine de Cure. Jean-Noel and Agathe were the perfect hosts: friendly, kind and have a wealth of knowledge re what is worth doing in the area. We split our time between visiting various attractions in Aude and enjoying downtime at the gite. The gite itself is lovely - clean and well-appointed - and the buildings sympathetically renovated. The grounds and pool did not disappoint. Would definitely recommend.
Great location, relaxing environment close to Carcasonne. The house is a middle terrace barn conversion with shared outdoor facilities including pool and barbeque. Hosts on site and helpful.
The cottage exceeded our expectations, there is everything you need for a very comfortable and relaxing stay whatever the weather. The inside space is large, airy and uncluttered, perfect for cooking, eating, relaxing and sleeping. Lovely bedrooms, superb bathrooms and a well equipped kitchen. Outside provides the perfect balance of a suntrap and shade for relaxing or dining. The best grounds and swimming pool we have experienced. Sophie,Richard and their staff are charming, helpful and welcoming without interfering, we had a truly wonderful time here.
This is the second time we have stayed at this property although we stayed in a smaller gite this time round . We were again delighted with the property and location and the warm welcome from the owners Jean-Noel and Agathe . The property is very well equipped and in a very peaceful and idyllic location . It is however well placed for all amenities and there is plenty to see in the area.
Lovely apartment - comfortable, clean and spacious. All the equipment you might need is here and the owner was on hand should anything be needed or advice given. The pool was very pleasant to sit by and swim in and the addition of the table tennis was welcomed by us. The property is central to quite a few places including Carcassonne so we easily filled our week and could have done more had we had a second week. We found the locals all very friendly and welcoming but it is well worth brushing up on your French before you visit as, although some people speak a bit of English, many do not. We loved our week and would definitely return if the opportunity arose.
We had a lovely week in the gîte tucked away with its secret garden in Mazamet. Thank you so much Felicity and Martin for all your help. A perfect week weather wise and trips to Carcassonne, Lastours and the nearby lake were greatly enjoyed as was the day out to a nearby vintage car rally and car boot sale where we were the only Brits!
We loved our stay at Claire and Ian's pretty gite. Quaint and cosy, it was very well fitted out with everything we needed. And the location is an excellent centre from which to visit so many of the lovely towns and villages in the Languedoc area. Claire and Ian were great hosts, on hand to help out with local information, not to mention providing us with wine and cake!
We've stayed in many self catering cottages and had a very different experience in this one.
On VRBO the gite is advertised as having a lake view, its no where near a lake! After we'd paid for the gite the owner contacted us for €300 cash deposit, and told us about additional electricity charges per day. There was no mention of this on VRBO, so the owner waived the charge.
We arrived at 4pm on a Sunday and immediately had to find a supermarket as no basics/welcome pack was provided e.g bread, milk, handwash, washing up liquid.
No towels were provided, when i contacted the owner he said 'it isnt a hotel'. Although he always responded quickly on this occasion i had already bought towels. When we got back to the gite he'd left towels by the door.
The beds/mattresses were very uncomfortable and i ened up with a bad back, we also didnt feel the bedding was fresh - it didn't have a fresh/clean smell, i washed it the first day. The gite was not very clean there was a lot of dust e.g on the edge of the tiles in the bathroom, and behind the bedside tables had not been swept or washed for some time. I have asthma and the dust caused me to cough persistently.
There were no instructions provided on how to use the dishwasher, washing machine or eletric heating, it was freezing some nights and we couldn't get all the heaters to work.
On the plus side, the village was quiet, the outdoor space was lovely, although it was too cold and windy to enjoy it. The shower was a reasonable flow.
