Valdefuentes holiday lettings

Juan Carlos’ house is a lovely property. Nicely modern, but with lots of historic features. The pool is fairly small, but great for us and our four children to plunge into to cool off in the 42 degree heat. Bedrooms were good sizes. Kitchen was not large, but was well equipped (a larger bin inside would be good). Would also be lovely in winter due to wood pellet burning stoves throughout. Village is fairly small, but some lovely restaurants and smaller bars. Cheap to eat out. No good supermarkets nearby - Caceres (40 mins) is best for a big shop, although everyday items can be obtained more locally. Local jamón and embutidos (sausages etc) are very good. Juan was very helpful with a couple of small problems that we had and they were resolved quickly.

Excellent facilities. Quiet apart from the birds! Friendly locals and owners. Easy to visit Extremaduras main towns and countryside. Very enjoyable stay.

My brother, sil and I loved staying in this finca. Waking up to peaceful vistas of olive grooves as far as the eye can see was a joy. The casita was very comfortable, and had everything we needed to stay almost a week. Very clean, well furnished and equipped and with plenty of throws for sitting outside under the portable roof for morning coffee to watch our neighbors, a horse and donkey. Several mornings we walked out from the front through paths into fields and groves, and others we drove to nearby walled towns to walk the twisty cobbled streets. This a perfect location for both. I certainly would refer friends to stay here.

Hosts welcomed me on arrival, gave me some pointers on dealing with the August heat as well as things to see and do in the area.

We stayed 5 nights and were overwhelmed by the high service level and hospitality from the owners Iva and Paul. The place is very well suited as a base for birders. Easy access from highway A5. Very high flexibility in terms of meal times , beautiful views over the surrounding mountains, and located next to an 18 km hiking trail. Good free WiFi connections, and delicious 3 course dinners at a cost of 20 Euros including choice of alcoholic beverages, to be offered the night before. Highly recommendable.

We stayed a week as part of a longer stay in the Extremadura. The location is certainly rural, the views at the rear are delightful. We enjoyed ourselves. There is also a lot more of Spanish history to see locally than first appearances might suggest.

The Barn is set in an ideal location offering wonderful views, peace and quiet and is a great base for walking, birdwatching and sightseeing. Sitting out on the terrace was a wonderful way to start and end your day, enjoying the peace and solitude.
