Zonnebloem (it’s Dutch for ‘sunflower’) is a lovely semi-detached holiday property in the village of Brymbo, on the outskirts of Wrexham. The well kept garden has a delightful patio on which to enjoy a glass or two of wine, and there are glorious views over to the Cheshire Plain in the distance. With two living rooms and three bathrooms, there’s plenty of space too, and the owners have thought of everything to make your stay just perfect. The nearest pub is just 100 yards away, whilst there are restaurants and other hostelries within easy reach.
This makes a wonderful base for exploring the area too, whether by car, motorbike, bicycle or on foot! Brymbo has its own Fossil Forest and at 300 million years old it is certainly worth a visit - look up Stori Brymbo to find out more. There are plenty of places for any birding enthusiasts to enjoy, including the opportunity to see Black Grouse close by in the lekking season. The One Planet mountain biking trails and centre at Llandegla Forest are within easy reach. There are two National Trust properties locally which are well worth a visit - Erddig, where you can learn about the interesting Yorke family; and Chirk Castle. From Llangollen Wharf you can take a trip on a horse drawn canal boat or walk the towpath of the beautiful Llangollen Canal, and if you’ve a head for heights, walk over the amazing Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site). Also in Llangollen are the magnificently restored trains of the Llangollen Railway, steaming through the Dee Valley to the little town of Corwen. Historic Ruthin is worth spending time exploring the little streets which radiate down the hill from St Peter’s Square in the town centre. The feared Ruthin Gaol is always worth a visit, though fortunately the staff are very nice and welcome visitors these days! In the market town of Mold you’ll find Theatre Clwyd offering a range of stage performances all year round, whilst just over the border is the historic city of Chester with its city walls, unique shopping Rows and impressive cathedral. Alternatively, it is just a 25-minute drive to Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet, where you can enjoy lunch out and a browse around the shops. Shop 500 yards, pub 100 yards and restaurant 1 mile.
Maximum capacity 6 guests including children and infants.
Free WiFi
