About this property

Minimalist House in Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Located inside the National Park, the house is surrounded by 10 acres of wildflower meadow. This house embraces simplicity and minimalism, a modern aesthetic, and a space to relax and connect the guests to nature.

Less than a mile from the quaint shops and artists of Peninsula as well as the towpath/bike-path, most of the best trials in the park are within a 10 minute drive.

If you appreciate nature, you will love the large windows and private location and a large front and back porch. Walk the nature path that circles the meadow to find the rare Green-fringed Orchids, nesting Blue-winged Warblers, frequent deer and coyote sightings, and much more.

This house is lived-in by the owner some months, so the many closets may be locked. A large-screen TV has a basic cable package included. Wifi is provided. Fresh sheets and towels provided, and all kitchen essentials are available as well.

This house isn't “polished.” Some of the drawers don’t open perfectly smoothly, some floorboards might squeak, there are boards behind the house for a construction project, etc. I LOVE the house, but it’s not a newly constructed luxurious place by any means. It’s being converted from a humble 1970’s home to something cleaner and more modern. Think simple rustic beauty, not luxury. It's only Motel 6 quality materials in some cases (floors, counters, fridge, trim), but with good minimalist design taste and a beautiful location.

CVNP nature

Place in located among a field of wildflowers and trees set back from highway traffic. Large windows on three sides bring in the "nature". As described, accommodation is minimalistic, however this is not an issue and otherwise very comfortable.

Amazing location

Sharing the positives and the negatives in a review is important to me to share with others. We love the wildlife of this location, and the uniqueness of the property. It felt private and passing the neighbors horses, birds are everywhere. The simple decor leans itself to photograph amazing. We took advantage of the fireplace to the fullest (it was 26 degrees when we visited). The bed is comfortable (organic bedding) and we enjoyed the shower and lots of hot water. The house needs some TLC, the side door was unlocked upon arrival and the sliding back doors do not lock. We really loved our short stay, it is a special place, but want to be honest what you see isn't exactly what you get. I appreciate the owner letting us reserve about a year in advance and seems like a very nice person.

Small but cool in Peninsula

Set way back from the road, it is secluded with a terrific native prairie yard. Everything was great! One note: wifi password is all lower case.

It was a very beautiful little house with an amazing view. I loved looking at all the wildflowers out the big picture windows. It was so nice and close to stores and the national park trails. If I ever go back down I’ll be staying there again forsure!

Perfect location!

This home is close to just about everything. It is on a deep lot so the wildlife is abundant. Eastern Blue birds, American gold finches, house finches, cardinals and more. We went on the dinner train ride which was spectacular. So many trails and bike friendly.

Cuyahoga Valley House

A beautiful rustic setting very close to Cuyahoga Valley National Park trails. Two nice decks to sit on —we used them for coffee in the morning and games in late afternoon. You feel like you are away from it all, it is so quiet. Great kitchen—gas stove—for making meals. Bed very comfortable. Very relaxed by the end of our stay, I will go back.

Beautiful place

This is a terrific property surrounded by forest, only a half-hour drive from Cleveland. We enjoyed the beautiful views from every window, and loved the minimalist aesthetic of the interior. The kitchen was very well-equipped overall (would have liked to find a carrot peeler and some oven mitts) and pleasant for cooking and socializing. The piano was much appreciated by our music-major children! The main living space was great for hanging out together, and there were private spaces for getting away for a little quiet time. One or two drawbacks: there are no grocery stores nearby, which was a bit inconvenient but we learned to think ahead. A bigger drawback was the strong musty smell throughout the house, which was almost overpowering each time we came in from outside. Our noses got acclimated after we were inside for awhile, but it's a shame. The cool, rainy weather probably didn't help! Overall, we were delighted with our stay!

Great Place, Responsive owner!

My husband and I really loved coming “home” to this property on our vacation. The kitchen has great modern appliances and was well stocked. The house was very clean. Matthew, the owner, was friendly and responsive to our questions. However, the true charm of this house is in the property and large picture windows. The beautiful wild flower meadow attracts a plethora of wildlife. Each evening we would come home to hawks, does, and bucks close enough to see clearly right from the couch or table. Every morning started with a close encounter with humming birds, song birds and butterflies simply by quietly having our morning caffeine on the porch or strolling through the meadow path. I highly recommend staying at his home to all!

Simple with Great Location

House was minimalistic as advertised but had all of the basic necessities and was very comfortable. The fields of wildflowers surrounding the property provided for great photos and a nice quiet seclusion. Close to Cuyahoga Valley National Park and Blossom Music Center. Only complaint was that the house smelled very musty as if there were water / leakage issues, and for our three asthmatics, mold can cause breathing problems.

Wonderful!!

The property is great! My group enjoyed the lovely nature and the seclusion while still being close to parks and activities. The deck is awesome! Bring your own chairs though. Great place and we plan to return.

Nice house in a quite location

The house was so tucked back that we drove by the drive way the first time. The house was very conveniently located in relation to BMBW where we were in town to do work at. Great town with a wonderful atmosphere and nice restaurants a very short drive away. As stated in the description house is decorated in a minimalistic style which if it was any less remote the lack of window coverings could have made a person feel on display, but it works on this property . The only issue we ran into (and it would have been no issue if it wasn't for the fact that you had a few ski industry folks staying there during the opening of the olympics) was the satellite tv being offline during our stay. Disappointing but since we were there to work not the end of the world. Beyond that everything was clean and comfortable.
