About this property

Northwoods Escape on Loon Lake — Rustic Charm, Wildlife & Lakeside Living

Escape to the peaceful beauty of Wisconsin’s Northwoods at this charming, log-sided, three-bedroom cabin nestled on a wooded point along Loon Lake. Surrounded by the Loon Lake State Wildlife Area, this rustic retreat offers the feeling of a secluded wilderness getaway, with lakeshore on two sides, beautiful lake views, and nature right outside your door.

Conveniently located less than 10 minutes from Turtle Lake to the south and Cumberland to the north, and approximately an hour from the Twin Cities metro area, the cabin offers the perfect balance of peaceful seclusion and easy access to small-town shops, restaurants, and year-round outdoor adventures.

Your Own Little Corner of the Northwoods— Step inside to a warm, welcoming interior featuring knotty pine walls, rustic character, and an open-concept main floor. The kitchen, dining area, and living room flow together, creating a comfortable gathering space with beautiful views of the lake. Whether you're sharing a family meal, relaxing after a day outdoors, or watching the sunset over the water, the lake is always part of the experience.

Just 25 feet from the patio door, the dock and swimming area make it easy to step outside and enjoy the water. A rustic staircase with a natural tree-branch railing adds to the cabin’s woodland charm.

The cabin sleeps your group across three bedrooms, with one bedroom conveniently located on the main floor next to the bathroom and two additional bedrooms upstairs. It’s a relaxed, rustic setting made for family getaways, fishing trips, paddling adventures, and time away from the everyday routine.

Clear Water, Quiet Bays & Days on the Lake— Loon Lake’s clear water and mostly sandy bottom make it inviting for swimming, paddling, and enjoying a day by the shore. Bring your fishing gear and try your luck at northern pike, largemouth bass, crappies, and sunfish. A public boat landing is located at the south end of the lake for those bringing their own boat.

One of the cabin’s special features is its setting near the quieter back bay. Generally away from the traffic of powerboats and pontoons, this peaceful stretch of water is ideal for canoeing, kayaking, and exploring at a slower pace.

Keep an eye out for loons gliding across the water, deer moving through the woods, and other wildlife that call this area home. Here, some of the best moments may be as simple as enjoying your morning coffee while listening to the birds or watching the lake change with the light.

Explore the Outdoors Right Outside Your Door— Surrounded by public land and the Loon Lake State Wildlife Area, the cabin is an excellent base for outdoor recreation and nature lovers. Nearby trails and natural areas offer opportunities for:

- Hiking and nature walks through the Northwoods
- Birdwatching and wildlife viewing, including opportunities to spot beavers, otters, loons, swans and other waterfowl
- Fishing for a variety of popular Wisconsin game fish
- Hunting, including waterfowl hunting in the surrounding region
- Canoeing and kayaking with owners canoe and two kayaks
- Wild edible and natural resource gathering, where permitted and in season
- ATV adventures with access to the Barron County ATV trail system from the cabin road

Whether you prefer an active day exploring the outdoors or a quiet afternoon beside the water, the surrounding landscape offers plenty of ways to unwind and reconnect with nature.

Small-Town Charm & Local Favorites— When you’re ready to venture out, nearby communities offer plenty to discover.

Comstock Cheese & Sausage with Louie's award winning meats is just minutes away in Comstock, with a tempting selection of cheeses, meats, wines, gifts, and—perhaps the best part—ice cream.

Cumberland, a friendly small town to the north, offers local bakeries, antique shops, gift stores, restaurants, and other places to browse and enjoy a leisurely outing.

Turtle Lake, just south of the cabin, provides additional dining and entertainment options, including the Turtle Lake Casino.

You’ll also find local restaurants, bars, and golf courses within the surrounding area, giving everyone in your group options for a change of pace. One just minutes often with live music.

Make Time for What Matters— Whether you’re planning a family vacation, a fishing getaway, a paddling adventure, or simply a few quiet days surrounded by trees and water, this Loon Lake cabin offers a chance to slow down and enjoy the simple pleasures of the Northwoods.

Wake to the sounds of nature. Spend the day on the water or exploring nearby trails. Gather together after a day outdoors, then settle in for a peaceful evening at the lake.

Come for the lake, stay for the quiet, and leave with a little more of the Northwoods in your heart.

It was a great cabin for the weekend with 4 young kids and 2 adults! There wasn’t any WiFi or A/C (at least to our knowledge). The area was very relaxing and felt private. It would have been nice to have shades or curtains downstairs, but otherwise it was great!

Hi, we’re Becky and Jim!

This cabin has been part of our family for many years. We raised our two sons here, making countless memories swimming, fishing, exploring the woods, and enjoying everything that makes a Northwoods getaway special. Today, we’re passing those traditions along to our grandchildren and are happy to share this special place with guests like you.

We live just about 30 minutes away and still love escaping to the cabin for the same peaceful, old-fashioned Northwoods experience we’ve enjoyed for years. There’s something special about slowing down, spending time on the lake, and reconnecting with family and nature.

We hope you’ll feel at home here, make some wonderful memories of your own, and leave with a little of that Northwoods magic to take with you.

**Welcome to our cabin—we’re glad to share it with you!**

Becky & Jim

Why they chose this property

Becky and I both grew up in the country, so when we were living in the city and looking for a cabin, we wanted something that felt a world away from manicured lawns, busy streets, and the hustle of everyday life. We dreamed of a true Northwoods getaway, surrounded by trees, wildlife, and peaceful water. Most importantly, we wanted a clear lake with a sandy bottom where our family could swim, play, and enjoy tubing together.

When we found this wooded spot on Loon Lake, we knew we had found something special. It had the rustic Northwoods cabin feel we were looking for, along with the lake and natural surroundings that made it easy to slow down and enjoy life outdoors.

This is where our boys learned to swim and canoe, spent hours fishing and catching frogs, picked berries in the woods, and gathered around the campfire to sing songs under the stars. Those simple moments became a lifetime of wonderful family memories.

Today, we’re grateful to share this special place with our grandchildren and with guests like you. We hope you’ll discover the same magic we did—the joy of a clear lake, the beauty of the woods, and the simple pleasure of making memories together in a place that feels a little removed from the rest of the world.

What makes this property unique

Our cabin’s setting is what makes it truly special. Nestled on a wooded point with lakeshore on two sides, it offers a wonderful sense of privacy while keeping you close to the water. The cabin is just steps from the lake, so you can enjoy beautiful views of the clear water, surrounding woods, and colorful sunsets right from the living area or patio.

Whether you’re swimming, fishing, canoeing, or simply relaxing by the shore, everyone can be part of the action—or find a quiet spot to unwind. Watch for loons gliding across the lake, deer wandering through the woods, and other wildlife that make this Northwoods setting feel like a world of its own.

Here, you can fill your days with outdoor adventures or slow down and do absolutely nothing but enjoy the view. As evening settles in, gather with family and friends to watch the sunset paint the sky, listen to the sounds of nature, and savor the simple pleasures of lakeside living.

It’s the best of both worlds: a private-feeling Northwoods retreat where the lake, woods, and unforgettable sunsets are always part of the experience.
