About this property

A cottage on the new river

Cabin for rent on the new river. Riverfront!

2 bedroom 1 bath on 2 acres of land

Easily launch your canoe from the banks or motorboat upstream from the boat landing just downstream. 2 acres of land offers lots of privacy, drink your coffee and watch the river roll by on the huge deck, or look up to see the countless stars at night. Bring your fishing rods, catch a trophy from the banks! There is a small island just a few steps from the banks to walk out on and lounge in the river.

Property is only a few short miles to the cascades, which is a popular spot for hikers, as well as right around the corner from castle rock golf course. Bring your clubs, rods and hiking boots and enjoy everything that we love about this waterfront cabin.

Bad bad bad. Would give lower if possible.

Dirty, stink bugs everywhere!!!!! Needs updating especially considering the price. Never again. Lights don’t work. Windows and doors don’t fit and are hard to operate. Again stick bugs everywhere!!!! Had planned a brunch for the grandchildren but had to cancel because the place was a disaster. I am pretty laid back but this was awful.

Great Spot by the river

Great spot by the river, big yard, perfect for fishing and floating. No air conditioning, so consider that in the summer. And if a light sleeper, be aware there are frequent trains on both sides of the cabin.

Serene and comfortable stay

We had an enjoyable stay at the 'Cabin on the New River'. Our son graduated from VT on the weekend we stayed - and due to this - we spent most of the time in Blacksburg - coming to the cabin in the evening and enjoying the early mornings during our stay. Despite a rainy weekend, the cabin was a nice 'retreat' for us. It was beautiful property, with luscious green grass and the NEW RIVER just feet away. We would have loved to spend more time than we were able. The early mornings on the deck were refreshing. Only thing to be aware of is that the area of land that the cabin and other homes are situated on is sandwiched between an east and west bound train -- one on each side of the property. It didn't bother us -- but the train and whistle came through on a determined schedule. For future renters, be sure to bring fishing gear, tubes, kayaks, etc... to enjoy the river!
