Great holiday break

Excellent location in the Shropshire countryside with the added bonus of trains to watch and a beautiful railway line to explore. The hosts were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. A really lovely place, we are glad we found it.

Train heaven!

A lovely stay at Bucknell Station Cottage, just perfect for us (2 adults and 2 children). The kids loved staying in their room together and the wooden train set was a nice touch, going well with looking out the window as the big trains rolled past! Very well located for day trips in and around Shropshire as well as over the nearby border in to lovely Wales. Home made flapjacks greeting us on arrival were very well received! Thanks to Nina,Sam and family, a lovely space for a quiet break away.

Our mini adventure by the railway..

We were delighted to find this property for during half term. Our young son is a train fanatic so was thrilled with the location and to find the train set in his room! The cottage was well equipped for our stay. It was ample big enough and tastefully done. We cranked up the heating as it was mid-February but it was a comfortable house. The only negative was a lack of toilet roll and the dampness on the bedroom walls by the beds. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay and liked the quirkiness of being on a train station platform.

Hi Helen, we're glad you enjoyed your stay and found the cottage cosy in the middle of winter. Apologies about the toilet roll, the normal cleaners (me and the family) were on holiday and the stand-in cleaners (my parents) must have missed this. We'll have a chat with them and make sure it doesn't happen again. Hope to see you for another visit sometime soon.

Excellent stay

This property is the really nice cottage created by converting the ticket office and waiting room for Bucknell station. Location serves you well for exploring the towns and villages nearby and lovely views from the cottage itself. Very friendly host.

Lovely week spent in a charming railway cottage in beautiful scenery. Bucknell itself is a lovely, quiet village, and a great area for walking. Locally, Hopton Castle is particularly worth a visit. The hosts Nina and Sam were very welcoming, and the accommodation spacious and very well provided. The station itself is on a very quiet country railway with just 8 trains a day, which are very unobtrusive, but useful too. Really enjoyed my week at Bucknell, and plan to return in the future.

Unique property in quiet rural setting

This was our first family adventure from home and couldn't have wished for better. Lovely clean rooms that were plenty warm for February. Nina and Sam kindly supplied milk, tea and coffee and gorgeous homemade flapjacks although our criticism is there would never be enough 😉😊 The village was very quiet and provided a good base to explore. The trains do not run too frequently past and stop before 11pm. Would highly recommend a stay here.thank you Station Cottage for a lovely memory.

Lovely little find

This cottage is so sweet and in a great location - it was actually bigger than we expected! Little extras from the host and great communication. Great location for hiking direct from Bucknell or Long Mynd, as well as visiting Ludlow. All very clean and comfortable as well as being authentic! Thank you!

Perfect for train fans

You really could not find a better location for a train fan than this charming property. Worth noting that the garden area is open to the platform and road so you need to keep an eye on little ones. Inside was surprisingly quiet, a well equipped kitchen, pleasant living room with smart TV, and the beds were really comfy. The toy train track was a big hit too.

Cosy little quirky cottage.

Really cute little cottage. Kitchen well equipped for the size, bedrooms comfy. Despite the train line, train noise isn't a problem - in fact you get more noise from large vehicles on the road right out the door. Would be cramped for 4 adults, but overally a lovely place to stay with great countryside literally on your doorstep, and more easily access by car or the train.

Lovely

The cottage was so lovely! Covered all your basic needs for cooking, hygiene and leisure. Super cosy and modern at the same time. my 2 year old son absolutely loved it and wants to go back to 'the trainhouse', there were lots of toys and a travel cot. The village is lovely and the people as well. Lots of trails to walk and the weather we had was amazing! we will definetly be returning!

Thanks for the lovely review and glad you enjoyed your stay. The trains should be running again from September, so your son would find the cottage even more exciting. Hope we see you again some time soon.

Wonderful stay at this very special cottage

Everything in this cottage was spectacular from the location to the cleanliness to the friendliness of the hosts. We loved our stay and wish we could have stayed longer. Nina and her family were very helpful with everything we needed and the cottage was the perfect size. The hosts provided everything including a slice of cake and milk upon our arrival! Our two kids ages six and three absolutely loved watching the slow moving train pass by each morning and evening and wave to the conductor. There were even toy trains and tracks in the house for the kids to play with which were a big hit! It was one of the best places we have ever stayed and we would recommend it highly.
