Family Fun on Labor Day

This is our 2nd stay and this beautiful home. The home has everything you need for a wonderful get away. There's plenty of room for family, friends and entertaining inside and out. It's only a very short walk to beautiful historic downtown Swansboro with restaurants and shopping. We plan to go back soon!

absolutely charming!

The Reeds have done a remarkable job in creating a very cozy house amid the historic properties of Swansboro. The house was better than we anticipated and the furnishings were very accommodating. We enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend anyone to stay here. Thanks for making our father's 100th birthday a celebration to remember!!!!!

Swansboro home

the property was very nice, the stay was excellent except for the thermostat reset temperature at night and away, the A/C could not catch up after it reset itself. I like it cool and understand the home owner trying to save energy but not while i am paying for it.

The house is over 120 years old and very difficult to maintain a low temperature in! The house has a smart system which is not based in saving a few dollars but is environmentally conscious! Perhaps in future you would probably be more comfortable in more conventional accommodation like a Best Western or similar !

No response from owner. At all. Terrible experience

Great location and proximity to downtown Swansboro.. However the lockbox was not in good repair and we were unable to get into the home. The owner or manager was not responsive at all and never got back to us. The home is older and not very well kept. I would not recommend Renting with this owner. Terrible experience

The guest did not follow the check in instructions which clearly stated that the access was with a smart lock on the back door - a code was provided. This would not only immediately open the door but also activate the smart home system. Secondly they did not follow the VRBO instruction of contacting the VRBO help center or host through the app. Contact telephone numbers are for office hours and host private details are protected which is why guests need to use the VRBO application. Which was not done. The guest broke into the lock box on the wall that has a spare key to front door - a violation of the house rules. At check out instead of using the back door with the smart lock to activate the smart home and security system the house was left with the door open - resulting in damage from a rain storm. The house is obviously older as it is advertised as being over 120 years old in the historic area - historic houses are maintained according to historic standards and most guests love the charm of their quirky features. Had the guest followed the instructions as per the notification the day prior to arrival this unfortunate experience from both a guest and host perspective would have been avoided. Fortunately she took the insurance to cover the damage to the property caused by leaving a door open - costly with rain damage to a historic property.

Pictures do not do the property justice!

We rented the house for the weekend before the Fourth of July holiday and had a wonderful time.We were pleasantly surprised that the property was even more beautiful in person than in the pictures. My boyfriend, his mother, my brother, our children (ages 10-19), and I were able to spend the weekend together with plenty of room to spread out.His sister, brother-in-law, and niece even joined us for the day on Saturday and we were all able to have dinner together in the spacious dining room. Throughout the weekend we enjoyed swimming on Bear Island, kayaking & boating in the ICW, biking along the Bicentennial Bicycle Route, and visiting shops. The house was well-equipped for our needs with all the comforts of home and we only needed to bring beach towels/toys and food! Our only regret is that we weren't able to stay for the festivities on Independence Day as we needed to drive home (Durham/Chapel Hill) to work the next day. We will definitely be returning as soon as we are able to get everyone together again!

Big house in the perfect spot

The owner was incredibly helpful and responsive. There was plenty of space and bathrooms for the group we traveled with. The yard is great, the parking was great, and the location is unbeatable. It was super neat to stay in one of the historic homes in Swansboro, and see these old homes being so well cared for. I have read a few things about the air conditioning. It got warm sometimes (stayed in September), and I bet it'd get cold in there in the winter too. Plan accordingly.

Southern Charm Where Memories Are Made

This property was very accurately described and pictured on the website. You can tell that a lot of love went into every decorative element in this house., a feel good kind of home. You also have all the amenities that you could possibly need in this property, you just have to bring yourself and create everlasting memories with your loved ones. This property is also in walking distance to all the little shops and restaurants that are in historic downtown Swansboro.

Cluttered

Swansboro is a delightful town and we enjoyed our visit very much. The house was dusty and there was no hot water in the master bath. I had an 11 month old climber with me so I had to put up a lot of Knick-knacks. I guess I didn’t put them back in the proper place and Carla got nasty with me. Oh well- you will like it but don’t move anything!!!

As we had issues with the state of the house after your stay I was expecting a nasty review so your comments are no surprise. However as you had left glowing comments about your wonderful stay in the guest book this is your n fact contradictory We rent the house out constantly and most guests are delightful. It too my cleaner almost two days to restore the house to order after your stay as the house was left in a messy and less than hygienic state. During COVID we require extra cleaning and precautions and your party did not comply with this The house is certainly not dusty although it is over 110 years old. There is a tankless water heater and this takes a little longer to reach done areas but there is certainly hot water in all areas. I would hope that in future you treat the homes of others with more respect and consideration. I certainly would not wish this experience we had on other hosts

Wonderful place, felt like home away from home. Great quiet location and attention to detail. The owner was very helpful and immediately available for all our questions. Our family enjoyed our stay immensely.

4/10 Poor

Adequate

This property was great for walking to downtown Swansboro. However, it did not comfortably sleep 8 adults. The pullout in the living room simply did not work for us. The throw rugs throughout the house proved a hazard for me, as I was on crutches/knee scooter with both legs immobilized. The biggest problem I had with the house was it simply did not seem clean. It was dusty, and the knick-knacks throughout the house were overwhelming. In fact the night prior to my daughter's wedding, she had to leave. She stated she felt she was being "smothered by the stuff in the house".

The property description clearly states that there are 3 bedrooms and sleeps 6 people in beds. In addition the guest questioned the accommodation and was told the size of beds in each room. A sleeper couch is never ideal accommodation for more than a night - with a party of 8 adults it would probably have been more appropriate to have rented a 4 bedroom property. With regards to furnishings - this is a historic property and as such the antiques and throw rugs are part of the charm. That is certainly the response we have had from other guests.

Owner was very personable and the house was in a wonderful location. We brought our dog, because of the fenced in backyard, we had to keep watch on him because he's nosy and there were areas he could get through and under, but everything worked out great. Would love to stay here again because the area is so quaint and friendly.

Home away from home

My children and I had a great stay at The Methodist Parsonage. It was my first Thanksgiving since my mom always cooks! We really enjoyed our stay with our Marine. Close to base. Swansboro was so quaint and decorated for the holidays! Wat a great home! Carla was very kind and helpful in making sure that our stay was perfect!

Totally Relaxing!

My family (and friends) have stayed in this lovely home multiple times over the last 5 years. It is so comfortable and the location is perfect. We have family and friends in the area and the house and yard are perfect for having cookouts. The beach is a short drive but it is worth it to stay in this lovely historic town. Don't miss the restaruants and charming shops as well as the waterway. This is a gem!

Wonderful Christmas in Swansboro

We could not have been more pleased with our stay this past Christmas in Swansboro. Since our daughter leaves nearby and our family is rather large we needed more sleeping space than her home could provide. Therefore, we rented the Creed home in Swansboro. Everything about this home and town was perfect and delightful. The Creeds even left special Christmas goodies for our family to enjoy. This home is extremely neat, clean and very charming. Everything from the rental of the property, checking in and departure was so easy and pleasant. Our family felt so welcomed and relaxed. Thank you for helping our Christmas away from home so wonderful. I highly recommend this home to others. In fact we plan to try to rent it again when all our family gathers again in the Swansboro area.

Very Comfotable

We stayed in Swansboro awaiting our sons return to Camp Lejeune from Afghanistan. It is only a 20 minute drive to the main gate at Lejeune. This rental offers much more privacy and comfort than any hotel can give. The owner of the home was very accommodating and concerned that our stay went well. If you are looking for a good nights sleep this is the place, the beds are extremely comfortable.
Response from VrboOwner on 3 Aug 2020

Loved it!!!

My family enjoyed our trip to Swansboro. As usual we enjoyed walking into town to enjoy coffee shops, restaurants, and watching the boats on the river. The beach is only a short drive from the house which is wonderful to come in for lunch or a break from the "sun". The house had lots of "extras" and was warm and cozy!! We will definately be staying again!!
