We have a beautiful waterfall that is a short and easy walk from the cabin. The trail system also hooks up with the Appalachian trail so the possibilities are endless. Fishing is available in the creek in front of the cabin or on the larger creeks in our area. The creeks are stocked yearly with trout. Stargazers will enjoy the uninterrupted beauty of the night sky. This cabin has a spectacular view of the moon rise. There is a labyrinths on the property for you to walk if you choose. We love sharing our 100 acres of paradise with you. Our land adjoins the national forest so the possibilities are really endless.
We are located 13 miles from Hot Springs where there are quaint little shops, restaurants, an outfitters store and rafting company. We are about a 1 hour drive from Asheville, NC, home of the beautiful Biltmore mansion. There are many activities in our area including, river rafting, kayaking, ziplining, hiking, horse back riding and gem mining. There is also local bluegrass music, wonderful drives that lead you on a quilt trail or a barn trail.
Your cabin comes equipped with everything you need for you stay. We provide a landline phone and Wifi. We are sticklers about cleanliness and care for our cabins. It has fresh linens, cooking utensils, a kitchen, an outdoor grill, an outdoor fire pit with free firewood, satellite tv, dvd, cd, music system, electric fire place. The hot tub is completely drained, cleaned and refilled with fresh spring water after each stay.
For your convenience, we provide a self check in process. You may arrive anytime after 3 pm to enjoy your place in paradise. The hot tub will be warm, the lights on and the key available on the table. We live about 1/2 mile from the property, so if you need anything, you are welcome to give us a call. This cozy cabin is located in the Western NC mountains surrounded by Pisgah National Forest, just off the Appalachian trail near Lemon Gap and Max Patch. This makes it a great place to offer trail support if you happen to have a friend or family member who is hiking the trail. The cabin is also within a day excursion to the Smoky Mountain National Park.
There is easy access to the French Broad River which offers a wide variety of river rafting, canoeing, kayaking and fishing. The NC Arboretum, the Folk Life Center, the Blue Ridge Parkway are attractions that many of our guests enjoy. Cherokee and Maggie Valley are also within reasonable driving distance and offer great day excursions.
Max Patch is a short drive from our cabin and offers a spectacular 360 degree view from the top. It is an easy to moderate hike from the parking lot to the top. Many of our guests visit there to watch the sun go down, or to take a day hike. The Appalachian Trail goes right across the ridge. If you are lucky enough to visit us around the time of the full moon, you can get a spectacular show from the top of Max Patch. If you go up on the day just before the moon is full, the sun will set just as the moon is rising. Standing on the top of the mountain during this time is a unique, spectacular experience.
Wild flower enthusiasts will love exploring the woods surrounding the cabins. There are many beautiful and rare species of flowers blooming from early spring to late autumn. We have been fortunate enough to spot showy orchids, trillium, wild geranium, tiger lily, jack in the pulpit, lady slipper, lily of the valley just to name a few. Early spring also brings dogwood blossoms and wild azaleas in abundance. The Rhododendron are particularly spectacular in the summer months as they flourish along our creeks and cover the hillsides with pinks and whites. It seems that almost every day from April to late October, something new is blooming in these beautiful mountains.
Bird lovers will be thrilled to find that we are a major migration route for many songbirds and butterflies. We have a huge population of hummingbirds. A very thrilling site is the Indigo buntings who visit our area in the spring. They flash an incredible incandescent blue when they fly by. We have birds such as the nuthatch, towhee, cardinal, oriole, wrens, hawks and many others. We also have many yellow finches and purple finches.
So, on your next vacation or romantic getaway, come to the mountains of Madison County, NC and discover what makes the Appalachian Mountains such a great place to relax and rejuvenate your spirit. Allow yourself time to soak in the Jacuzzi on the front porch, or rock in the rockers. Take a walk or wet a fishing line. Discover the peace of a mountain retreat. It's good for the Soul.

Best place

The cabin was small, neat and very clean, just right for a romantic getaway. We had actually contemplated asking for an additional day or two but thought they would be booked. Great place would definitely go again.

A wonderful Thanksgiving Escape!

The cabin is so cute! The kitchen has more than the usual items you would expect. Coffee/Filters Salt/Pepper, even cooking oil and laundry detergent! We brought our Thanksgiving plates from home - but easily could have cooked it all in the cabin too!. The HOT TUB is AWESOME! The mineral water really heals your old sore muscles! We will be back! Thanks so much for a great holiday!

Relaxation

Cabin was cozy and warm! The porch was great to listen to the stream and enjoy the hot tub. Unfortunately, it rained literally the entire time we were there. So, we weren’t able to hike and fish as much as we’d like. Downtown Hot Springs is an easy 30 minute drive - highly recommend Big Pillow brewery and Vinyl Pizza. We are looking forward to coming back and pray it doesn’t rain the whole time lol

Best relaxation

We spent our 22nd Anniversary at the stardance cabin. Beautiful drive and the cabin was everything we expected. It was quiet and away from the workd except 2 other cabins but not too close. When we arrived there was a notebook with a wealth of information. The cabin was clean and well stocked. We adventured up to see the waterfalls on the property one day. We went to max patch and hiked the laurel creek trail. We had alot of fun reconnecting to nature and ourselves. At night we would cook in the cabin and unwind in the hot tub. The only issue we had was the bed was to hard for us.otherwise we enjoyed everything this place has to offer. We will be back.

Unforgettable cabin

Incredible cabin on a beautiful property that is all you could ever ask for. Cabin was very nice and larger than expected, could have stayed right on the property the entire time. Hot tub was perfect size for two people and the land out front was magical. Would highly recommend and can't wait to be back.

Wonderful peaceful escape

Lounging on front porch rockers, in hot tub relaxing, watching the fire and the fireflies at night. Just what we needed to de-stress. Bed is very comfortable, cabin super clean. Is about 30 minutes from Hot Springs. We enjoyed a fun kayak down the French Broad and a meal at the Iron Tavern one of our days. But just being away from traffic sounds, surrounded by nature, was the best part. There are two other cabins on the property. We could see one but not in our view from front porch. Lots of hiking trails. We had a great vacation there and will be back!

This was such a sweet little property in a beautiful area. We loved being able to hike right on the property, the waterfall was gorgeous! Cabin was clean, with everything we needed. Tom and Rebecca even provided us with more firewood when we requested it. They were great hosts! We felt privacy while also being able to reach them quickly if needed. Our dog absolutely loved taking dips in the streams, he was in heaven! We would love to stay here again someday, thank you!

Beautiful Getaway in the Middle of Nowhere

We rented this cabin for the week to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We planned to hike all week, and this is only a few miles from the AT and many other beautiful trails. Everything was perfect! Very clean, and very well appointed with everything you could possibly need besides food and personal toiletries. Hot tub was amazing and they drain and clean it between every person who stays there. There was a nice supply of firewood available for the fire pit. Lovely babbling brook that we could listen to from rocking chairs on the front porch. The ONLY caveat is there were not a lot of places to get groceries. Hot Springs is very small and we never did find much beyond a small convenience store and a Dollar General. We made do with what we found but next time we’ll stock up before we leave civilization. No big deal. I highly recommend this place!

An amazing place to stay during the Covid Pandemic

The cabin, the hot tub, the waterfall, and the Mermaid lodge were all superb. Tom and Rebecca are very helpful and responsive. The hiking in the area varies from easy to very difficult, and at all levels the area offers beautiful views, and great trails. Make sure to go to Max Patch although it can be busy on a weekend. There's so much natural beauty its hard to leave. In Hot Springs, check out Vista Riviere Provisions. With the pandemic the restaurants are not open much, especially at lunch, so build a picnic basket and head for the great outdoors.

Gret little cabing nestled in a private valley!

We've rented cabins throughout the mountains of North Carolina over the years on our anniversary. This area was the last that we had not visited. Glad we did. It is a bit remote compared to other areas - and that was a big plus. Private, very quiet and relaxing. We took highway 63, then 209 up from Asheville. The drive was very scenic but very winding and uphill so be sure your vehicle is capable. Also, definitely fill up with gas and pick up a few days of groceries. There is a small town (Hot Springs) about 30 minutes away but not much shopping there and very limited dining. So come prepared! That was the great thing about this cabin - we were not distracted by theme parks, dialy must do lists, etc. instead we just relaxed in the hot tub and enjoyed hiking on the many trails around (Lovers Leap, Laurel Creek, Max Patch). The cabin is nestled in a small valley on the side of a hill and has gravel road access. We saw three cabins total encircling the road, one on each side of a hill. They are close enough you can see people but far enough away you have privacy. The photos on VRBO don't do it justice, The cabin is a long trailer style and very nicely equipped. A long wide porch runs the entire length of it and has a nice hot tub for two, two rocking chairs, a small table with two chairs, and two folding chairs you can use at the firepit. There is also a niced size lawn where you can sunbathe if you like, but the rest of the area is shaded. Inside the cabin, its just the right size for two folks. Leather loveseat with satelite/Roku access, good internet, kitchen table, microwave, stove, fridge, washer and dryer, and pots/pans, dishes, cubs, laundry detergent, etc. The bed slept great - mattress was perfect and sheets good quality. There were towels in the closet but we brought our own. Everything was very clean and very nicely decorated. We enjoyed our stay very much and feel it was perfectly priced. Recommendations: Iron Horse restaurant for dinner, the little cafe next door for ice cream, fraps, coffee. Also the Smokey Mountain Diner for lunch. Be sure to picnic at the Max Patch, beautiful views, and hike Laurel Creek. Lots of picnic opps up here - get stress free, avoid the Covid crowds elsewhere and unwind a whole week! We did and loved it.

Relaxing at it’s finest

From check in to check out, flawless. Rebecca and Tom are just amazing, they made our stay so enjoyable. They asked more than once how our stay was or if we needed anything, they even left a handwritten welcome note along with fresh flowers for our arrival. The cabin was clean and very cozy. The property is rustic and well maintained. Dandee is their dog, she loves to visit and is super sweet. Cannot wait to return, thanks so much Tom and Rebecca!
