Amazing host and apartment

The host went out of their way to inform us about the area and tourist attractions from the time of booking until checkout. Location was very convenient to get around Kyoto and we loved the traditional home. Highly recommend.

This was the most fantastic location for our five weeks in Kyoto, and just around the corner from the best supermarket ever. The house was really comfortable, with a bigger than usual kitchen, and even though we ate out heaps at all of the restaurants which are roundabout, we were also able to cook ourselves for a few nights of the week. All in all it was a great place to stay while my partner and I did our respective courses in Kyoto.

Great property in quiet safe street

We loved our stay in Kyoto and wished we could stay longer. So much to see and do. Shimpei’s house was set up perfectly for our needs. Shimpei was a fantastic host showing us how to use everything and then leaving us with stacks of information including maps of kyoto. Highly recommend this as a base for Kyoto with a group.

Great space, great host

The host was very helpful, organized, and communicative. Even with 5 people there was enough space, and the host was able to adjust the space well enough to accommodate. He gave us a great overview of what to expect as well. The space was lovely and easy enough to get to various areas around Kyoto, especially via the nearby Saiin station. I need a bathtub that can reheat the water in my life.

Kyoto Home

The home was set up very well for long term stays, with a complete kitchen, bath with clothes washer and even bathrobes and house slippers! It was very easy to reach 2 train stations as well as local eateries and grocery stores. All the appliance instructions are posted and easy to follow. We loved the automatic tub and toilet! We really enjoyed our stay, and the owner/host stayed in touch with us throughout, answering our questions quickly with advice. Bruce and Cynthia

Perfect location and amazing recommendations

We had an incredible time in Kyoto and at Shimpei’s pavilion. The recommendations at the townhouse are so thoughtful and helpful! We (my husband and 5 year old son) were easily able to navigate around and did so much adventuring! We slept great and the amenities at the house were really thoughtful! Plenty of blankets and pillows. The house is a 2 minute walk from the grocery store, which has an incredible selection. The townhouse has a great amount of utensils and sauces. You have to try the #1 ramen place on Shimpei’s guide- it was the best we had in Kyoto! We also used a lot of the public transportation options which were easy to navigate and fun but the Go taxi system worked well too. Thank you Shimpei for an awesome stay. We really appreciate it and making our trip enjoyable in Kyoto!

A Gem In Kyoto

We had an unforgettable stay in Kyoto. This house has lived up to all our expectations. Shimpei is an excellent host! The house is equipped with everything you can ask for. Information regarding the operation of the house, places and restaurant suggestions are well researched and are written both in Japanese and English. The iconic places mentioned are minutes within taking the train. Eating places, groceries are walking distance from the house. Our host took time to answer all our inquiries and gave us pertinent information that really helped us specially on our way home so we won’t miss our flight. Shimpei guided us to the station and was with us from start to finish. Thank you sir for making our Japan trip a memorable one. We are already looking forward to our next trip to Japan in the near future! Thank you very much for everything!
