Quaint and cozy apartment at the first and second floor of a medieval tower, situated in the ancient part of the village, peaceful because only pedestrian.
It has one bedroom with wooden ceiling and wooden beams, with a double bed and a single bed.
Living room with a cozy fireplace (we provide a generous basket of firelogs), spatious table + 5 chairs, double sofa bed, TV, WiFi.
Full equipped kitchen (gas, microwave, pots and pans, oven, fridge, kettle, toaster, two italian cofee pots for 3 and 6 cups, american coffee pot).
Bathroom with shower, hairdryer, fan heater.

Delightful Stay in a Medieval Tower

What a lovely trip that we had staying in The Medieval Tower in Breglia, Lucia was a superb host and emailed us with details of the area before arrival. Suggested to us the best route to take to arrive at the property and was on hand on arrival to give us loads of information on what to do and places to visit. The property is in a wonderful village, cobbled walkways and ancient terraces and steps. Staying in The Medieval Tower is unique and felt like a moment back in time - the property is fully equipped and had a lovely wood fire, fully enclosed, to light if the nights got cool during our stay. The bedroom is delightful and with ancient chestnut beams, two skylights and loads of character. The terrace is opposite the front door and had lots of character and got full sun. Breglia is a 20 minute car journey to Menaggio. And from Menaggio there is full access to Lake Como, brilliant ferry system in place, giving you a wonderful base to explore the middle of the lake. Back at Breglia do not miss the 45 minute walk to the San Dominica view point – WOW, it was stunning, the best view of Lake Como by far.

The property was just what we wanted. Small but not cramped, with all the facilities including a log fire and very good wifi set in the most charming little village high up in the hills. You reach the tower up genuinely mediaeval alleyways.

Time journey

i can recommend lucias apartment to the fullest. The place is not hypermodern or luxury but its totally clean and equipped with all you will need. the ancient building is impressive, as is the whole village. you feel like time stood still for quite a while. Lucia is so helpfull and open-hearted, you can hardly imagine a better host: As we just styed for 3 days she picked the best things to do in this acocrding to the feedback of former guests. by that, she prepared a perfect plan for our short stay - thank you again!

Break in the lakes

We had a delightful holiday in this small house in this tranquil village away from the madding crowd below. All the big attractions of Como and the surrounding area were easily accessible, but we could return to the tranquility of the house each evening and spend a long evening on the balcony and watch the stars before bed. As a tall man there are a few challenges to negotiate upstairs as there is limited headroom, but no problems really. Everything you need is there and the house is very easy to use. Lucia was an excellent guide to the area. Lake cruising and hill climbing making two fantastic days out from the recommendations given.

Our romantic Italian home in Breglia

We enjoyed every minute of our stay in la Torre, Breglia. This apartment is a unique mixture of old and new: the 12th century medieval tower in the oldest part of the village + the comfort of a very well-equiped and maintained apartment. And Lucia, the owner was so friendly and helpful in every respect. She gave us so much information about what to do around Lake Como and provided us with so many travel guides, maps and leaflets that we did not need to visit any information office during our holiday. Just go and see for yourself. Highly recommendable!

Unique Location

Very unique location. Lucia was very helpful and was really lovely to deal with. We enjoyed her recommendations of the boat trip on the lake and hike to the mountain refuge. The apartment is very clean and well maintained. We used it as a base for days out and hiking. We would return and recomend it to others.

Stunning views!

We stayed in portico apartment for a week and enjoyed every minute of it. Lucia the owner was very warm and helpful. She always had a bunch of tips for us and loads of leaflets about all sort of activities in the area. I would go back there anytime with no hesitation. Very good experience

beautiful breglia

we have had the most wonderful trip to lake como, with added joy of staying in lucias tower. it suited us to a tee as we love walking/hikeing and didnt want the bars as we were content to cook and eat in although we did eat in the only hotel on our first and last night. the apartment had all that we needed was beautifully clean and none fussy,and i believe we had the best view of the lake as we were so high. highly recomended if you want to walk down taking in villages you would not otherwise get to see and going to the top well worth the effort.

A mountain retreat

The property was exactly as described in the old village of Breglia;a peaceful retreat in an old village high about the lake with beautiful views. Very clean and well maintained. Lucia was very friendly and helpful with many ideas on places to visit. A good restaurant in the village, local shop 2km away for basics. Quarter of an hour down the mountainside to Mennagio on the lake. A great base for walking with many trails directly from the village. Would definately recommend a stay.

A wonderful week in La Torre

The information provided by Lucia on the website is very accurate. The accomodation was excellent. All the neccesary equipment for self catering was available. We were lazy however and used the local hotel. Breakfast at 6 euro was a good start to the day. The evening meal was either a la carte or a tourist menu at 16 euro. To be fair this was never repeated during the week and covered all the dishes on the a la carte. Luica was a mine of information both in person and with all the guides that are in the aparatment. Although a car may not be essential it will give you greater flexibility in movement as otherwise you are relying on the hourly bus service (for only some of the day) or taxies as it is a very good walk down the hill to Menaggio and probably an extremely long and tiring walk back up. The bedroom room slopes so pick your side of the bed carefully if you are on the tall side but it has great character. You can stay in and around the village for a quiet week or do take on soem local trekking. We chose to wander around the west coast of the lake both by car and boat and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had a great time at La Torre and would recommend it whole heartedly

Beautiful and Peaceful

What a wonderful place! We were looking for a holiday to get away from busy life and relax together. Lucia was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The Portico was very peaceful and tucked away in Breglia, which was a quiet little village with stunning views. Just thinking about it makes us want to go back now! It was great to be able to cook in the Portico and there was enough space for the two of us. It was also great to enjoy quiet walks in the countryside, accessible from Breglia. The whole area of Como was stunning and we were lost for words - which is impressive for me. You will need a car though (we hired one at the airport). There is plenty to do around the lake - Lucia will let you know all the options! It took us 15 minutes to drive down to Menaggio, and 25 minutes back up! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Sehr schön, der Weg zum Eingang ist etwas beschwerlich. Aber sonst wenn man es ruhig haben möchte, sehr schön. Die Vermieterin zurückhaltend ,wenn man sie braucht,sofort zur Stelle. Alles schön sauber...man kanns empfehlen.

High above Lake Como

Die Erwartungen ,die man von den Bildern hatte, wurden noch übertroffen.Total ruhige Lager,perfekt zum Entspannen!Die Berge hinter dem Dorf laden sofort zum Wandern ein.Oder man ist in 10 min am Comer See,wenn man das möchte.Die Gastgeberin ist unheimlich nett und hilfsbereit.Wer mit ihren Empfehlungen nicht die passenden Aktivitäten findet,ist selber schuld.In der Ferienwohnung mangelt es an nichts,alles ist ordentlich und sauber.Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen und überlegen uns,wiederzukommen.

Ruhiger Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen und mehr

Wir haben vor allem die Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit der Terasse genossen. Und die Feste und Feiern im Dorf. In der Nacht kühlt es auch im heißen Sommer auf erträgliche Temperaturen herunter. Empfehlenswert!

Utterly Charming

The medieval tower apartment was absolutely perfect for our little family! We loved the history and charm of Breglia. Lucia is incredibly knowledgeable about the village and the surrounding area, and provides a ton of information that we used to plan our time there. I would encourage anyone hesitant to just go ahead and book. This is an absolutely wonderful rental with so much to enjoy in the area.

Wer Ruhe sucht, der ist hier richtig.

Wir hatten wunderschöne Tage in Lucias urigem Turm in Breglia. Wir wurden herzlichst empfangen und mit nützlichen und hilfreichen Tipps geradezu überhäuft. DANKE dafür! Der Turm hatte alles was unser Herz begehrte. Vor allem die schöne Terrasse, auf der wir jeden Morgen bei Sonnenschein frühstücken konnten, hat uns sehr gefallen. Vom Turm aus starten viele Wandermöglichkeiten, was wir sehr begrüßt haben da wir das Auto so kaum bemühen mussten. Fatzit: Sehr zu empfehlen. Es war toll!

Ein schöner Urlaub in netter Umgebung

Lucia ist eine sehr nette, hilfsbereite und gute Gastgeberin. Direkt nach der Buchung, kurz vor der Ankunft und auch während des Aufenthalts gab es von ihr einige Vorschläge für Wanderungen und gute Tipps für Ausflüge und Besichtigungen in dieser schönen Gegend. Die Kommunikation hat gut und unkompliziert auf Englisch funktioniert. Am Abreisetag gab es bei der Übergabe eine herzliche Verabschiedung. Auch ihr Mann zeigte sich in der ganzen Zeit sehr hilfsbereit. In dem beschaulichen Dorf mit einem empfehlenwerten und stets gut besuchten Restaurant mit fairen Preisen in direkter Nähe und in der Ferienwohnung haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Wohnung ist genau wie in der Anzeige beschrieben. Gerade bei hohen Temperaturen im Sommer lässt es sich dort besser aushalten, als direkt am See. Alles in allem ist die Region für einen entspannten Urlaub sehr zu empfehlen.

Fantastic and quaint village!

Wunderbare Natur, ruhiges Bergdorf, sehr nette und zuvorkommende Vermieterin

Wir konnten zwei Wochen lang durch ausgiebige Wanderungen die nähere und etwas weitere Umgebung von Breglia genießen. Dabei sind wir bevorzugt direkt von Breglia gestartet, weil es ein sehr guter Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen ist. Im Dorf und in der Ferienwohnung haben wir uns ausgesprochen wohl gefühlt. Unsere Vermieterin Lucia hat schon vor Beginn des Urlaubs durch ihre sehr nette und unkomplizierte Kommunikation alles getan, um uns behilflich zu sein. Vor Ort hat sich diese tolle Unterstützung bis zum letzten Tag fortgesetzt! Für unsere Ausflüge an den Comer See haben wir auf Empfehlung von Luica meistens die Busse des öffentlichen Nahverkehrs genutzt. Dass fanden wir auch wesentlich entspannter, als selbst mit dem Auto dort unterwegs zu sein. Alles in Allem ein sehr gelunger Urlaub - vielen Dank an Lucia!!!

Sehr schöne ruhige Wohnung in abgelegenem Bergdorf

Wer Ruhe sucht und in den Bergen wandern möchte, ist hier genau richtig. Die Gastgeberin Lucia ist einfach wunderbar. Sie hatte so viele gute Tipps, dass wir gar nicht weit rumgekommen sind, sondern eher am Ort verblieben und schöne Ausflüge gemacht haben. Eine wirklich schöne Region.

Hallo! I am Lucia, I am in my 50s, I was lucky enough to be born and still live on the shores of Lake Como: one of the most charmig places in the world!
Breglia is placed like a nest on the heights an oasis of peace where is amazing to walk among the ancient stone paths, enjoying extraordinary views over the lake and the mountains.
After the reception on arrival (I personally take care to welcome you) I like to respect the privacy and tranquility of my guests. Here, surrounded by nature, they can recharge themselves away from the traffic and mass tourism.
But for any needs and info I am available: by phone, whatsapp or email... just have to ask:-)

Why they chose this property

Breglia is few minutes drive from the busiest and most famous places around the lake. Good bus services connect Breglia with Menaggio (from 7am to 6pm, not on Sunday), and the locals restaurants/pizzerias has excellent meals with little expense. Great surroundins with extraordinary views. In this small village people are friendly, you can feel the atmosphere of yesteryear Italy.

What makes this property unique

The tower is in the oldest part of the village, its walls have a thousand years, the facade reveal ancient stone windows, next there was a monastery (15th century).
In the apartment is visible a big beam done with a chestnut tree.
The fireplace is pleasant in the cold evenings!!
The big terrace is a very quite place for relaxing and enjoying breakfast.
