About this property

Lake Home/Sandy Bottom-Pedal Boats/Kayaks/AC/INTERNET SAT.-SAT OPEN SUMMER WEEKS

NOTE: Between Memorial Day and Labor day We typically only book full weeks (exception is Immediately after Memorial Day weekend and immediately before Labor day weekend) with a Saturday arrival date (Check in in 4PM or after, Checkout 10:30 AM) the following Saturday.

PONTOON BOAT: We have an optional pontoon boat to rent (not included in the VRBO rate) for the week of your stay for experienced boaters. Rate is $600 for the week. For 2026, the pontoon boat provided will have either a 40 hp or 70 hp motor. We do not allow tubing ,pulling of passengers or skiing off either boat.

Vacation how it is meant to be. Right on the lake sandy bottom private beach frontage. Our lot has 60 feet of frontage so you won't be sandwiched between two other lake homes. Escape the sun and enjoy the covered Pavilion on the deck (not in photos), swimming with a gradual drop off that adults can view right on a very gentle sloping property, watch the sunning turtles on the turtle raft next door or fish right off your private, vinyl lake dock that has a bench on it. Built new in 2000, this is a home that feels like your home is at the lake. Built with the modern comforts of Central A/C and ceiling fans, enjoy the Flex Steel Leather sofa, open floor plan with 9 foot ceilings, Xfinity Internet (their highest speed) with hundreds of channels of Xfinity Cable TV and a well laid out kitchen with modern appliances. 2 pedal pontoon boats and multiple kayaks are included at no extra charges. Twin Lake is a 112 acre All Sports lake with a nice sandy bottom for swimming located 15 minutes from Downtown Muskegon.

Quartz countertops and updated kitchen appliances. A Pavilion on the deck gives comforting shade.

1536 square feet of living area above grade, (the true way to measure square footage) so no scary or musty basement to send the young kids to sleep in and 2 full baths. There is 60 feet of private frontage (great not to be sandwiched next to neighbors), no steep hills to navigate to the water and no homes across the paved road . There is an open concept main floor plan with 9 foot ceilings and the primary bedroom with its plush King bed the only bedroom on this level . Home has Central air, a pontoon style pedalboat (there may be 2 of these) big enough for adults and is less than 15 minutes to downtown Muskegon, very popular Michigan Adventure Amusement Park and 30 minutes to the Port City Princess, Lake Michigan beaches and dozens of public golf courses. An open floor plan, Xfinity/Comcast cable and WIFI included, hardwood floors, central air and five ceiling fans will make a cool vacation. Very kid friendly with a deck and large windows to allow adults to keep an eye on the young ones. An ideal location with restaurants nearby and a Meijer grocery store less than 10 minutes away.

The Lake has bass, pike and pan fish. A Serta IComfort King bed is located on the main floor plus 4 quality queen beds (NO sleeper sofas, air mattresses or bunk beds for for the kids to fall off) on the second floor and a fire pit that was relocated closer to the main deck. (not in photos). We are on the quiet side of the lake only about 185 yards to an island which is perfect for kids to play on (water shoes are recommended). The island also shields the noise of power boats and Seadoos (plus our lot is very near a No Wake zone), both of which spend all their time speeding on the other side of the island.

We average 70% repeat renters each summer and lots of good comments about there being so much to do. We have a Weber grill and we are only a short walk to a public park. A great place to build family memories.

This cottage built in 2000 with optional 20 foot pontoon boat for experienced boaters. Every year we have very good comments that it is clean upon arrival and how nice it is. Horse shoes (shared with neighboring property) and a fire pit are other features we failed to mention. Muskegon, with its proximity to Lake Michigan, is not as hot as many areas of West Michigan. The main floor was repainted in 2017 and a nice propane Weber grill assures you great cookouts. Unlike some owners our weekly price includes taxes.

NOTE: The dock is seasonal and only guaranteed to be in the lake between May 20th and until the last September weekend. Contact owner if you have questions regarding this that may impact your stay.

WE ARE A NO EVENTS HOME: Please note our home is in a family neighborhood and respecting our neighbors is very important to us. Family reunions, graduation parties, weddings and other similar events are not allowed. We are okay if there are 5 or less extra vehicles at the property, not to exceed one day of your stay, and the small get together party is over and short term guests have left by 11PM. If you are looking for a place to host an event, it is very appreciated if you look elsewhere. Like many inland lakes in Michigan, Twin Lake has occasional weeks that the lake is sprayed for Swimmer's itch or weeds. In that event, signs will be posted not to swim for 24 hours. As owners, we do not control exact dates of treatments and we have personally allowed swimming for our family members the following day.

What are our 5 favorite casual things to do on vacation here?

1) Relax and fish on the bench at the end of the dock. Whether with family or just enjoying the moment, what better place to enjoy a quiet or family moment. Our lake dock is all vinyl and has a has an 8' x 10' area at the end so you can truly enjoy it.

2) From the deck, watch the turtles on the turtle raft, the bass and various water birds feed in the AM, and playing cards or just reading a book.

3) Walk to the County Park to enjoy an ice cream cone and play video games.

4) Have lunch or dinner on the pontoon boat (for rent separately) while enjoying a favorite beverage.

5) Making memories with family.

At the end of the week, the only sad part will be leaving.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

Why are we anonymous when others on VRBO are not? Unfortunately our society has increased identity theft and more properties are being phished. We obviously never want two parties to show up for the same week, one legitimately booked and the other scammed into believing we rented to them so we do this for your protection. We strongly feel this anonymity decreases the odds of that happening. We live within 30 minutes of the cottage so we are able to respond quickly should any problems come up.

Why they chose this property

Back in the late 1990's, my wife and I looked for a place in the Twin Lake area on the water yet all we found were old homes that needed a lot of TLC. When an opportunity came to build what we wanted on a great lot away from all the boat traffic, we did not hesitate. While we call it the Cottage (Established in 2000) , it is a year round home that is well insulated which assures, along with central air, that you don't cook from the heat. There are so many advantages of our 112 acre over the bigger lakes. Water temperatures are warmer than the bigger lakes like Lake Michigan, waves are smaller than lakes close to Lake Michigan and there are no extremely dangerous riptides like Lake Michigan has. Fishing is available on our dock which is located maybe 50 feet from our deck. The deck has an estimated 15 foot elevation from the water so there is no steep hill to climb. Other lakes in Muskegon County, like Muskegon Lake and Mona Lake for the most part, are not ideal swimming lakes for young ones. We have sandy bottom frontage unlike some other inland lakes and a gradual drop off. NOTE; Like many proactive lakes. Twin Lake is sprayed for Swimmer's itch and Milfoil (weeds). There is a possibility there could be a day during your stay that swimming is not recommended.

What makes this property unique

A good open concept main floor, 9 foot ceilings, the main bedroom away from the second story bedrooms where the kids sleep, no steep hills to climb and the ability to watch the young ones right from inside the home add to the appeal of our place. Our motto is to give renters what we would want in a rental, good beds, good linens, modern appliances, quartz countertops in kitchen (not in photos) and a clean place to arrive to while incorporating features such as central air, and a good internet and cable package. A pair of kayaks and a pontoon pedal boat are included and a 20 foot pontoon boat is an option for less than other rental boats in the area. One of the drawbacks of many inland lakes is Personal Watercraft and Boat traffic zipping by. The island that is maybe 180 yards away shields you from this as all the fast boats go by the other side of the lake. A boat launch is located a few blocks away if you want to launch and leave at our dock for the week (We don't recommend boats over 18 feet or extremely deep V boats).
