About the host
Hosted by Brenda Harris
I love being a host because it allows me to bring each home to life by telling a unique story based on its style. Being from the area and living here, I have a deep connection to these homes and the community. My passion is creating spaces where guests can truly relax and feel at home, no matter where they’re coming from. Each home I design is meant to offer comfort, warmth, and a sense of belonging.
Why they chose this property
The area is so tranquil—I absolutely love sitting out back, looking out over the lake. It’s peaceful, and when the sun is shining, it feels incredible. But there’s something even more special about the crisp air in the fall and spring—it just makes the experience that much better.
Nestled in the middle of a National Forest, this place offers more than just lake views. I love wandering off the beaten path, exploring the nearby trails, and fully immersing myself in nature. The water is so calming, and the way the sun lights up the backyard makes it the perfect spot to sit, soak it all in, and just be.
I hope you’ll love it here as much as I do!

What makes this property unique
I fell in love with this place long ago. It was in rough shape, but my husband and I saw a diamond in the rough—something truly special that we could bring back to life. And I think we did just that!
When we started, it was only a little one-bedroom home, in desperate need of updates. We took on the challenge, adding an entirely new living space while preserving its unique character. Though it’s a smaller home, it’s designed to make every inch count. Inside, up to seven can gather comfortably for dinner, but honestly, the best place to be is outside, soaking in the beauty of the lake.
To make things even more convenient, we added an outdoor shower—perfect for rinsing off after a swim or easing the load on the bathroom. Yes, there’s just one full bathroom, but we’ve found that most guests make it work just fine. 🙂
This little nugget of a home will surprise you. The upper level has three cozy sleeping spaces, while the lower level features a sleeper sofa. Originally a cinder block home, we transformed it with thoughtful renovations and an added living space to give it that extra charm. While the home may be on the smaller side, the real living happens outside—enjoying the lake, the fresh air, and the nature surrounding you.
