I don’t plan on ever staying with Southern Vacation Rentals again.We arrived to the beach front condo at around 10pm after a 16 hour drive to find it 87 insideAfter carrying our luggage up 4 sets of stairs we realized the a/c would not turn on.I notified the management to be told “we contacted the after hours vendor, and will let you know when we have an eta”About an hour & a half go by, still no word.I had to call and REQUEST a place to stay for the night because it was too hot to breathe in there and there was still no eta on the repair company Thankfully, they agreed to move us about 30 mins after I called and we stayed about 5 mins away for the nightWhen we got up the next day I called about an eta, still nothing. We couldn’t use the condo for the night until noon the next day because the a/c wasn’t working.When I requested a refund for the first night, he said he could only give me a 81 refund and that they followed all their “protocols” and couldn’t give us the night cost of the condo (funny how checking the a/c unit before your guests arrival isn’t part of protocol) said they had already gave us the other place to stay. That wasn’t offered, it was requested. They were going to let us cook all night waiting on an eta. Very disappointed in management for Southern Vacation Rentals. I would have preferred they OFFER to give us the FULL night cost refunded that we couldn’t stay, and offer to move us when they realized it was too late for anyone to come fix it.

The beach is wonderful

Great location. Away from high-rise crowds. Nice layout. Balcony furniture needs replacement. Carpet, as reviews from 3 years ago state, have carpet tacks still exposed and carpet condition is truly unfit for such a rental. New living room sofas nice. Kitchen, like unit overall, is have redone. Sink and granite countertops with a stove an fridge with broken parts. The amount I paid for just 5 nights would cover most of what is needed. Certainly the carpet!

Great unit, but I spent more time than I would like scheduling repairs.

Location: The unit is in an ideal location, right on the beach. Safety: It’s a small condo so it was nice not having a ton of people around. We felt safe and came home healthy despite the growing Covid-19 numbers. Everyone in the condo was friendly and respectful. Comfort: The unit has a beach my 80’s vibe, but it works well for the location. We loved seeing the beach from the back balcony. The walk through area under the building has swings, and an area to hose off the sand that was super convenient. Issues, the master bed was a full sized bed and not comfortable. The twin beds and couch were comfortable. We actually slept on the couch and twin beds for this reason, not ideal, and not what we paid for. We stay in a lot of VRBO and Air BnBs and this one didn’t have basic things, like a hair dryer and beach towels. We brought our own beach towels because this is disclosed, but these should be in a beach house. In general there were not enough linens, had we been at capacity in this home there would not have been enough for everyone. There was a roll of paper towels, one dish towel, 2 rolls of toilet paper and 2 dishwasher tabs for a weeks stay. This is not enough and was ridiculous. I hope this was a Covid-19 issue and will not be an ongoing problem. If so, the hair dryer could be wiped down, and the additional linens washed, so I don’t see the problem. Maintenance Problems: The master bathroom light flickered so much it gave us a headache and we didn’t use it. We reported it and it was replaced day two, but when I plugged my hair iron in it started flickering again, not as bad, but we literally didn’t want to be in the master suite at all (Because of the light and the bed), which is a huge issue. The next day the laundry room light went out and the neighbors outdoor light was now flickering. The front balcony door was so hard to open it took two of us. The furniture out front was splintering and broken, you couldn’t touch it with out pieces crumbling off. All and all this is a good unit and these things are fixable, but I felt an honest review was necessary. We would still stay here again because the location was perfect, but if some of these issues still remained we would not book a third time.

Great location, a bit neglected

I just spent 3 nights in this condo and had a wonderful time. There are no buildings one 1 side for about a mile, so the beach was wide open. There is a small public parking lot/beach access next to the bldg, so if you get there before check in, you could park at the public spot, hit the beach, and move your car later! There is a Publix just a couple miles away. The Shrimp Basket is across the street if you want to run over for takeout. So, location was awesome. I had made the mistake of dropping "pool" from my filter while searching, my fault, but just to make sure you are aware, there is no pool. The condo needs some love. The carpet in the living areas just needs to be removed. Bring in more tile that can be kept clean! Be cautious walking in barefeet as my foot got stabbed twice on the carpet tacking strip between the living/kitchen area. The disposal is leaking under the kitchen sink. There is a pan under there to catch drips, but it was full to the brim, making me feel like I had to dump it before I could use the sink or disposal. The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed except a collendar. The fiesta dish ware we ate off of was beautiful!! The condo had a wonderful layout, as it felt like a big open square instead of a long rectangle like most condos down there. My friend says she slept just fine in the king bed/master. I struggled the whole time I was there. The twin beds felt way too hard, but that is a personal preference thing. Some people like firm mattresses. But I just have to say that sleeper sofa in the living room is wayyy past its prime. The mattress is literally falling thru up at the head area because its missing the metal supports. I turned and slept with my head at the feet, but the foot area is sagging, like I've seen all sofa beds do, so I ended up with a sort of diagonal position to make it thru the night. Had we been there one more night, I probably would have tried mattress on the floor. I say that just to say I would never bring 6 people into that condo because of the sleeping problems unless they were very small children. Overall, the process was easy, no problems with access, great location, uncrowded beaches, price was right. There was nothing wrong that a little money couldn't fix!! I probably wouldn't rent again because I love the pool. But if I were with people who wanted to be away from the crowds of gulf shores and it had a new sofa, I'd definitely suggest you give it a try. Location location!

The condo is perfect. Short walk to the beach. My only complaint is that there are two flights of stairs to the condo with no elevator or ramp. I over looked this detail. We were only given one me parking pass and the host was quick to respond and handle.

The condo was not clean and there were several things broken or wrong. We were very disappointed in the condition of the condo especially how much we paid. The location of the condo was great but the condo itself was not.
