Relaxing and beautiful

We were able to spend a week in the gite with our family and our dog. It was a relaxing location and all that we needed for a lovely time away. Great property, full of character and welcoming hosts. We would recommend for those wishing to get away from it all and spend quality time together. We really enjoyed the games equipment and the pool. The neighbouring villages and cities further afield were worth a visit too.

Very private, lovely country house and pool

We had a wonderful time in the Dordogne. Sally and Steve were very friendly and offered a lot of privacy. As city people we searched for space and silence, and we found it. We loved the pool, the spacious, very well epuiped house, green garden, and the great collection of movies.

Perfect property in an idyllic location

We were just a couple and the house was great for us. The layout worked really well and we appreciated the comfortable furnishings and attention to detail of hosts. We were surprised by the generous welcome provisions, including their own eggs. This is the first house in France that has provided any. The weather was very good for enjoying the pool, which we used every day. The outdoor setting was comfortable and able to be moved about to enjoy different areas of the gardens, which were lovely. We also enjoyed English TV late at night, another bonus. We have rented many houses in France and would say tisi was the most appealing one so far. Would highly recommend.

Exceeded expectations

We have had a wonderful week at La Retraite which has exceeded our expectations. The picture from the website cannot fully capture the beauty of this rolling countryside and the exceptional views over the fields from this small hamlet which is at a slightly higher elevation looking down. We appreciated the beautiful sunsets and the lovely garden with its landscaped swimming pool. There were so many lovely touches from the welcome pack - including eggs of various sizes from the hens next door. The garden furniture is well appointed. Every comfort is supplied and it would be tempting to just chill around the property. However, there is much to do and see and there are a number of walking trails direct from the hamlet and other accessible by short car journey to their starting point. Trails in the area are well waymarked. Hosts Sally and Steve Root looked after us so well and it was a real pleasure to be welcomed to their home and their beautiful gite. We look forward to coming back at some point.

Le Périgord au calme

Maison sur un site isolé magnifique au milieu des champs dans un hameau où logent aussi les propriétaires. La piscine et le grand terrain sont un vrai plus. Tres Bon accueil.

Très bon séjour!

Très belle maison accueillante et refaite avec gout. A l'arrivée, la maison est très propre et entretien régulier de la piscine (toujours très discrétement ) par les propriétaires. Ces derniers sont très prévenants et disponibles en cas de besoins. Nous recommandons totalement cette maison!

Nice trip in Dordogne

The house is wonderful and neat. Also the landscape around is amazing! The housekeeper is around if needed and very kind. To bad that the sming pool isn’t heated. 4PM is a little bit late for a check in and 10AM a little bit early for a check out…

La meilleure location à ce jour. Tout était parfait, la situation au calme, la vue de la piscine, l'équipement de la maison... Seul petit bémol, le lit un peu petit dans une des chambres mais vite oublié tant le reste était au top.

Perfect, very complete holiday house. Very nice decorated, great pool and lots of privacy. We extended our stay as it was perfect. Nice places to spot nearby. Golf course (9 holes) within 15 min drive. Owners are helpfull. House was cool despite the lack of airco. Definitely worth a visit.

Holidays during Corona times in France

We spent a perfect time in a real wonderful house. The area is countrified and beautiful. It s a perfect quite place with a large garden and a fine swimmingpool (it s a real swimmingppol not a paddling pool) and in this area you can make very nice trips. The owners are very nice and helpfull, also to european citizens and Germans. There was nothing to complain. We stayed there for 2 weeks and preferred to stay one week more. So all in all we had perfect holidays.
