The apartment was great for my family of 6: 3 bedrooms with double beds and a sofa bed. The location outside Empoli was good for visiting Florence, Siena and the surrounding Tuscan countryside. Meanwhile the family really enjoyed the pool (where the views are amazing).Carmencita and her family were excellent hosts, who couldn’t do enough for us: incredibly friendly (and spoke fluent English!).You can eat at the villa if you wish and the menu is both extensive and mouthwatering. With young teenagers who were far keener on pizza than traditional Tuscan cooking we didn’t partake, but I have no reason to believe it wouldn’t be of a high standard given the general experience.

Perfekter Urlaub auf dem adligen Anwesen Villa Meleto

Traumhafter Urlaub in traumhafter Umgebung. Das Ferienhaus ist das ehemalige Gartenhaus (nebenan Orangerie) der Villa Meleto. Das Anwesen liegt auf einem Hügel mit weiter Aussicht in die Umgebung. Anfangs waren wir etwas skeptisch, ob die vor unserem Aufenthalt geplante Badrenovierung pünktlich erfolgt. Aber alles hat geklappt. Wir haben insbesondere den Pool direkt am Haus sehr genossen, der uns allein zur Verfügung stand. Alle Räume sind mit guten Klimaanlagen ausgestattet. David Moynihan und auch die Eigentümer Carmencita Bua und Ihr Mann waren sehr gastfreundlich und immer ansprechbar. Kleine Probleme (z.B. Sicherung war herausgesprungen) konnten kurzfristig gelöst werden. Auch die aktuell auf dem Gesamtgelände noch stattfindenden Bauarbeiten (Ausbau/Renovierung des ehemaligen Herrenhauses und der Gartenanlage mit Barockgarten) störten nicht und wurden teilweise auf unsere Abwesenheiten gelegt. Während unserer Aufenthaltes organisierten die neuen Eigentümer ein typisch toskanisches Essen und richteten an Mariä Himmelfahrt einen Sektempfang mit Feuerwerk aus. Ebenfalls erhielten wir eine Führung über das Anwesen inkl. den ehemaligen Weinkeller. Insgesamt haben wir uns sehr wohlgefühlt und die (etwas staubige) Auffahrt durch die sehr lange alte Zypressenallee ist einfach traumhaft. Es wäre sicherlich interessant, sich das Anwesen in ein bis zwei Jahren nochmals anzusehen, wenn die begonnenen Renovierungen abgeschlossen sind.
