Located just four miles from Downtown Durango, in the stunning Animas Valley, our quiet woodsy retreat offers you privacy, comfort and easy access to the area's great activities. Satellite TV, free WiFi, fresh coffee and herbal teas tempt you to settle in for a cozy stay, but there's so much to do! We're located on a county road with world class golfing (Dalton Ranch) and rejuvenating hot springs (Durango Hot Springs Resort) just five minutes from your door. Durango's best bakery (Bread) is about a mile away, and is open for early risers! Best of all, it's completely quiet here - no 6 am Train whistles, no sirens, no in-town traffic. Our home is tucked into the forest against the base of red rock cliffs; out your back door you may see deer, elk, wild turkeys and an occasional silent coyote wander by.

Durango offers days (years!) of exploring: the best-known actvities are the 1880's Siverton Train; World Heritage Site Mesa Verde National Park, and the excellent winter skiing at Durango Mountain Resort. But there's so much more: hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails, a river winding through the Animas Valley that's perfect for rafting and tubing, and dozens of shops and restaurants that reward your senses after full days of fun. We have world-class artists and artisans in Southwest Colorado and their best work is on display right here. Restaurants range from the simple to absolutely gourmet.

The hidden gem

I loved that the cabin was off the highway hidden & very peaceful. My highlight was actually seeing a black bear 40 yards away from the cabin eating. I was so excited & I am planning to return on another vacation. The host was very accommodating too. 👍

Beautiful, quiet nest tucked into the side of the mountain and only 10 minutes from downtown Durango. All the amenities we needed! Alison gave great advice on restaurants and hiking trails.

Relaxing/Chill

Loved staying out a bit, nature and wildlife was perfect. Clean, cozy with an outside sitting space looking out to nature. We saw deer and an actual bear. Comfortable bed, air conditioner and a fan available. Tea and coffee available, fridge/freezer, toaster, microwave. Cozy space up a small flight of stairs. Recommend!

Little Cabin in the Woods

Loved our stay! If you are looking for something close to Durango but secluded enough to feel like you are surrounded by woods, this is the place. It is a cozy studio with everything you need. The views were amazing! The host was responsive, and we really appreciated the ease of our stay. Checking out involved a quick wash of the dishes we used. It was nice not to have a ridiculous list of chores to do before heading home. Highly recommend.

Terrible

Worst rental that we have ever had with your company. Unit was in an attic, insufficient parking, ridiculous cost to park in town, train broke down which caused a lesser time to visit Silverton. It was our 31 anniversary and wife and I just will remember how bad it was that we will it with laughter not enjoyment.

Peaceful place not far from town

This is a lovely studio - in a beautiful, peaceful setting! Very clean and cozy and safe. Great communication with host. Just outside of Durango - renting a car is recommended.

Good option in Durango

Property worked just fine for my husband and me. Simple, clean, comfortable accommodations. Off the beaten path but that is a good, peaceful feeling.

Perfect Location

This place is amazing! The location is absolutely beautiful. It was clean and super cozy. It takes 5 minutes to get to downtown Durango so you are removed just enough. Loved going to Still Life Coffee to grab a chia tea and their matcha pound cake is amazing. Gorgeous neighborhood. We enjoyed sitting on the deck looking up at the red rock cliffs sipping on wine in the evenings. I highly recommend this property. This will definitely be our go to when in Durango.

Quiet and relaxing

We loved our stay at Alison's studio! The area is close to downtown but has beautiful views all around. The studio is cozy and has everything needed for a stay in Durango. We loved relaxing at Alison's but being close to everything Durango has to offer. Alison is a wonderful hostess and was so kind and accommodating! We would love to return in the future!

Red Rock

Red Rock was very nice and in a relatively easy location to drive from Durango. We didn’t cook, so nothing to clean. There is only one sink in the bathroom, (none in the kitchen area) so I’m not sure how easy it would be to clean up from cooking. Overall a great little place!

Terrible Way to start your vacation retreat

I had been communicating with the owner regarding their area fires due to asthma. I paid for rental from Thursday to Sunday. the first part of June. I called a week prior and we had agreed that if the first were still bad on Thursday she would let us know but the agreement was that we were to communicate that Thursday. I landed at the airport in the morning and called to let owner know we had decided to come up on Thursday and see how things were and go from there as I had already paid for the rental. The owner never returned my call and when we arrived the owner had rented it to someone else and then accused me of lying by saying she had never received a call from me even though I have proof of that call on my phone. She stated that I had agreed to stay in another town for the night which I had not. The agreement was that we would check in on Thursday which I did. When we arrived owner had rented out the place and I at 5:00 p.m. in the evening having travel for over 13 hours was being told that I had to find other accommodations even though I had prepaid weeks in advance. She did not offer to reimburse until I insisted then she under paid me the amount that I had paid minus tax. I had to fork out an additional $65 to rent a room on short notice. She advertised a queen bed in reality was a double bed and one of us ended up sleeping on a too short love seat which should have been able to convert into a bed. When it says sleeps two then it should be set up to accommodate two. Not everyone is a couple. She let us check in a whole 1 1/2 hours early on Friday which should have been a full day and then offered to buy us a drink at her restaurant for the confusion. I believe she did not respond to me on Thursday because she had purposely over booked the week prior in hopes that we did not come in on Thursday. The accommodation could use some upgrade. Frayed couch, small refrigerator that froze our stuff and a hard bed that was advertised as a queen. The location of the cabin was lovely and Durango was a great place to visit but I would not pay again to stay there as I lost money and was treated as if I was in the wrong. Terrible way to start a much needed retreat.
