L'altra porta is a renovated apartment located on the fourth floor (no lift) of an early 1900s building at the entrance to the historic Forcella area, in the wonderful Spaccanapoli district. Forcella is one of the most distinctive areas in all of Naples. Rich in history, culture, and tradition, it has been a place of great importance and mysticism since the time of the ancient Greeks. The Romans also held this area in high regard, so much so that the Sebastà—a sort of Olympic Games in honour of Emperor Augustus—were held here.Today, Forcella is a celebration of Neapolitan culture. It ranges from art in the traditional sense to culinary and judicial traditions, all set against a backdrop of monumental and remarkable architecture.
The rooms of the apartment traverse the sacred and the profane: features the Pulcinella room, named after the historic Neapolitan mask that used laughter to combat the hypocrisy of the nobility; there is the Maradona room, dedicated to the Argentine football champion who became a Neapolitan street urchin; and finally, there is the room of Saint Januarius, the martyred patron saint of our city. Please note that in Naples, the city collects a tourist tax of €5.50 per person per day from hosts. This tax is paid in cash at check-in.

Great location in walking distance of everything. Cute little balconies in every room, colorful decoration, high ceilings and airco. A practical kitchen even if we did not cook. Good and free coffee. No living room, but that is not a problem if you're out the whole day anyway. Daniela is easy to reach, helpful and flexible. Easy self check-in and -out ensures gives a lot of freedom. Street can be a bit noisy, but good noise insulation with windows closed.
Beautiful apartment in Naples. And left us a nice little assortment of muffins, croissants, etc. for breakfast too! Just one reminder for US peeps - 4th floor in Europe is 5th floor to us - their ground floor is "0", not "1"!
We loved this apartment and would definitely stay there again. Clean and had all the amenities we needed. The neighborhood was a little dirty, but cleaner than other parts of the city. The only draw back to this apartment was that it is located on the 5th floor and there is no lift, but I knew that before I booked it so we were prepared. Still, it’s definitely a workout when carrying your bags.
From the beginning to the end a great expirience. Daniela, the host was super communicative and very if we had a problem regardless which, she was always in reach and helped out. There is a kitchen to cook and even machines for washing the clothes. So all in all if you wanna visit Napoli and want to be near in the Center, there is nothing against this apartment with 3 rooms and everyone has a balcony.
Nice location for access to public transportation and activities. Neighborhood is quite loud most of the day and night, but I think that is just a characteristic of Napoli. Mostly clean but bathrooms really need some work. The long climb up to the fourth floor with our luggage was unexpected. I think that’s something that should be disclosed in the listing.

ciao Cindy thank you for your review but about the 4th floor is well specified in the description on vrbo, the problem is that the guests are not attentive readers
Overall, very good. Listing does mention no lift or elevator but it doesn't say apartment is 7 floors up. Only recommendations for improvement would adding this information and offering to arrange for a porter to help you with your bags since so many stairs.

Hi William may be you did not read carefully: it’s well specified in my description that the flat is at 4th floor ( non 7th as you wrote considering that the billing has only 5 floor )
About the porter it’s enough to ask for it, but remember that we aren’t an hotel and this an extra cost for the guests
Anyway thank you, if you’ll come back in Napoli I’ve another flat at the first floor in the Quartieri Spagnoli 😉
