Cottage Apartment, Macatawa Park, Comfortably sleeps 2 + 1
Situated adjacent to the sandy beaches of private and exclusive Macatawa Park, home to Holland Light House and birthplace of Wizard of Oz. Guests can enjoy usual beach activities and later watch the sunset. The unit is overlooks a wooded valley which gives a really cool "tree house" feeling, yet also has a small view to the lake, which you can see in the photos.
Guests are sure to enjoy a memorable vacation in this fully furnished, 1 bedroom/ 1bath attached apartment. Please note that the first photo shown is not the unit but for visual reference of property on which unit is located. The actual unit is one level below the main house but isn't really a basement since the backside of the house cascades down the hillside. There is even a lake view through the trees shown in the photos.
The unit is very well-equipped with beach equipment (see list), it's own deck area with gas grill. There is even a huge outdoor shower one level below with all soaps and a mirror for shaving.
The main bedroom has a bunk bed along with a queen-sized bed, while the living room is furnished with a full-size sleeper sofa with firm memory foam mattress. Comfortable for sleeping 2 adults plus 1-2 children (I do not consider this property toddler friendly, nor is it child safe guarded). The quaint living room is surrounded by windows that have blinds if you prefer more privacy. There is a small kitchen with full size amenities including oven, microwave and full size refrigerator/freezer but NO dishwasher.
In short, we try to provide everything so you can just arrive and play.
Off-season long-term rental is available. The larger adjoining home is also available at certain times but not listed on VRBO.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

We loved our stay here. The owner could not be more kind or accommodating. Clean and beautiful.
Macatawa, Michigan is a lovely place and this small apartment was perfect for us. We absolutely loved the location and enjoyed watching thunderstorms from our covered deck. The place is well kept up and the owner is fantastic. We would love to come back.
This property is located in one of the most unique and beautiful communities I’ve ever been to. A private beach for the community, tennis courts and neighbors that are so friendly and kind. It’s really like stepping back in time. The owner is so great and goes above and beyond to make your stay memorable. I can’t aay enough about how wonderful everything was. Anything and everything you need is provided. The apartment is well stocked and the view from the balcony is beautiful! I can’t waot to get back to this place!

Nice place/great location, but you're not alone
Pro's: The property was very well kept and very clean. It was a nice, quiet neighborhood in a wooded area on the dunes about a 1/4 mile walk to the beach. Steve was very friendly and extremely thorough in the details he provided on the property.
Con's: If you're taller than 6'2" you'll probably feel the ceilings are low and the bed a bit small. Also, the apartment area we stayed in was connected to the main living area by french doors that could not be locked, we we're awaken the first morning by the renters in the other unit playing music and our second morning when they decided to come into our living area uninvited by simply unlocking the door and walking in while my wife and I were sleeping. I would propose having a door that could be locked from either side, making future renters aware they might have uninvited guests visit, and/or putting up signs forbidding renters not to go into other units. Because of this we kept our valuables locked in our car not knowing if our neighbors would return while we were away
Overall, it was a nice stay and appreciate Steve's hospitality by opening his home to us and providing recommendations on things to do and places to go

I'm so sorry to see a review such as this although there are some good insights we will be certain to take into consideration.
Many properties are partitioned multi-unit. Our cleaning lady failed to lock the pass-through door properly, which is the only reason the door was able to be opened. I completely understand it would have been uncomfortable to have your privacy breached and apologize that this happened. We have since taken additional precaution by improving the lock and reinforcing the importance of locking the unit after cleaning. The person who opened the door came in late and their spouse had not yet had a chance to tell them there was another unit attached to the house before they started looking around for the laundry room. I tried reaching out directly to this renter with hopes to provide a refund but didn't receive a call back.
We always aim to please, but it is important to realize that renting this property is truly one of a kind. You are renting one of the few, if not only, one bedroom spaces in private Macatawa Park, which includes the most private and exclusive beach in Holland, Michigan area at the most reasonable price available. The unit is extremely well-equipped and nicely appointed. All other rentals within the private area require larger space, time and financial commitment. I feel it is also important to understand that when you rent in homes vs. hotels or inns, there are idiosyncrasies to be expected. Privacy and security considerations excluded and, in fact, should occupants wish to utilize an additional measure, this unit has an alarm system that can be set-up in a moments notice.
We have had taller occupants rent from us in the past without any mention of issue but there is always a first. We have very positive response and appreciation for such a well-equipped and unique space. Aside from toiletries and food, everything else is provided.
Hope this helps
We had a great time staying here. Everything exceeded our expectations. We really needed to get out of the house and wanted to go someplace clean, safe, and with places to walk. The beach is a short walk, there's a trail through the woods, and the place itself was immaculate. Could not have been nicer. The owner makes sure you have everything you need and was available whenever we had a question. Truly fantastic.
We truly enjoyed our stay! The area is so unique and beautiful, the fall colors were spectacular. Loved downtown Holland and the area. Steve, the owner, was extremely helpful with info on the property and the area. The place was clean and comfortable, and the beds were cozy. Would definitely come back!

I appreciated Kate as a guest. She was conscientious from every aspect and was a great fit for Macatawa Park.
It couldn’t have been more beautiful. Our family had the most wonderful mini vacation. We loved the location, the neighbors, the beach, and the nearby attractions. Steve was wonderful and we hope to come back again next year!

Gina and family were not just your run off the mill awesome guests, they really embraced the culture and mindset of Macatawa. As well they were extremely respectful of the property and all within. It's a privilege when you encounter people like this and would be welcome anywhere. Anytime.
We husband and I had an amazing trip with our three year-old to celebrate our anniversary. Steve and Karen are just about the nicest people you’ll ever meet and were extremely helpful and so easy to communicate with! The place was really nice and was in a great location - just a few minute walk to the beach. I’m so glad we booked our trip with them, and we hope to be back some day!
A wonderful getaway. Property was quiet and secluded (does require some walking from parking area to apartment) but the views were spectacular.. Owner very easy to work with. Will definitely plan a return visit.

Great property & friendly owners!!
My family of 4 stayed at the cottage apartment for a long weekend and had a great time! We were greeted upon our arrival by the owner Steve who introduced us to the area. The apartment was perfect, including location near the private beach, use of the private outdoor shower to clean off from the beach, use of the beach chair, umbrella, etc. Apartment was clean and tidy and had plenty of space for the 4 of us. Beautiful scenery around the apartment. Will definietly be back in the future!!

Awesome Apartment in a Beautiful Area
We had such a wonderful time during our stay. Owner is a great guy who was very helpful and suggested walking paths and restaurants in the area. The neighborhood itself is really beyond description. High up in the trees - so secluded and peaceful. Short walk to a great private beach. This place was exactly what we we looking for. We definitely will book again!

Beautiful view, private beach, very helpful owners.
We had a great long weekend. The owner was very helpful. We even had a bottle of wine and windmill cookies upon arrival. Place was very clean and well stocked. The private beach requires a walk down a kind of steep hill but it is worth it! Beautiful, quiet, private beach right on Lake Michigan.

I love the outdoors and being around water. My interests range from kiteboarding, sailing, motor boating and many other sail driven vehicles. I often tell my kids that it's not the size of the boat but rather the size of fun that that really matters.
Why they chose this property
Unique and exclusive lake front community
What makes this property unique
