Victorian Beach House

We enjoyed our stay at the Creamcake House which is conveniently located near the main shopping area and the boardwalk. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. I look forward to visiting again some day.

Charming small Victorian beach house

Perfect home for a small family with a short walk to the beach, as well as main street shops and restaurants. Nice safe neighborhood to stroll around in and admire the Victorian architecture. Hosts were friendly and accommodating and very responsive to messages. We enjoyed time here!

Great for a small family beach experience

The house had everything we needed; beach toys, chairs, umbrella, boogie boards etc. as well as fully stocked with beach towels. It was a short walk to the beach, and to town for restaurants and shopping. The hosts Scott and Catherine were helpful and so friendly; they made us feel right at home. Great place to rest and recover

I traveled from out of state to receive care at Monmouth Medical Center. The Creamcake was a short 20 minute drive from the hospital. We stayed for almost 2 weeks. The house was quaint, the beds were comfortable and the location was outstanding. We loved the short walk to the beach and shops. The hosts were quick to respond to any requests. It was a great place to rest and recover.

Well located and equipped house for a beach weekend with great access to water, Asbury Ocean and downtown Ocean Grove - lots of beach towels and chairs. Beautiful outdoor decks. For a long er term off season stay a little less ideal. Lacked comfortable seating in LR. Did not feel private. Beds in extra bedrooms were all child sized which wasn’t great when my adult children came to visit. Overall recommend for summer beach weekend stay especially for family with small children.

Restful summer getaway

3 Moms , 3 teenagers had a very pleasant time in this sweet house . There was enough room for all of us - 3 girls stayed in the room with the bunk beds & one extra mattress was used for the floor . House is lovely - small but 2 bathrooms is a real bonus ! Overall no complaints & always nice to spend time in Ocean grove .

Three women ages 79, 78, 78. The beds were almost impossible to sleep in. No sleep makes for a very tired renters who were trying to enjoy a week at the beach!

Very relaxing

The Cream Cake House was built in the 1880s and has kept most of its charm from that era. Beautiful updated bathroom on the second level, dishwasher in the kitchen, which most rental houses do not have. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you needed. plenty of towels and paper supplies. Scott and Catherine were very nice and answered any questions we had almost immediately. Beautiful wicker furniture on the front porch, and a short walk to the beach. It was a very relaxing week for my group of five.

Delightful Week

This property is exactly as advertised. Beautiful Victorian home with all necessary amenities. The owners were very easy to work with. Ocean Grove is the place to go to enjoy the beach and quiet time on one of the two front porches. We definitely plan on coming back!

Inaccurate description and Mice

We have stayed at numerous VRBO and other home rental services. Unfortunately, this property was not described accurately by the owners. We are healthy senior citizens who can use most hosted facilities without any problems. We had intended to use one of the three bedrooms for friends in their seventies. The room was described as accommodating four persons, having bunk beds and “two twin beds”. The twin beds turned out to be “floor beds”( the owner’s words). In other words, a twin mattress on the floor and a three inch thick mat on the floor We realized that two of our 75 year old friends who were planning to visit would be unable to use the “floor beds” .Also, please be advised that the house comes with mice.Previous guests had commented about their presence .Not only did we see numerous droppings but we recorded a mouse which joined us in the living room. We told the owners about this during our stay and they did nothing to remedy it. After six days, we asked for a full refund only for week two. Our request was rejected. Efforts to have VRBO assist us went nowhere. The owner may respond to this review with personal attacks but will likely not address the complaints, which has happened with previous guests.

Only wish we could have stayed another week!

We loved staying at the Creamcake in Ocean Grove. The house was exactly as advertised, clean and welcoming. The location couldn't be beat, so close to the beach and Main Street. We especially enjoyed hanging out on the upstairs porch watching the goings-on each day. Catherine and Scott were a special bonus, kind and interesting people we really enjoyed talking with. They were quick to respond and help in any way they could. We can't wait to come back to Ocean Grove and look forward to staying at the Creamcake again!

Best Front Porch!

My family and I have stayed here before and we will be coming back every year. The house is very cute and beachy and it has everything we need: a great front porch, two blocks to the beach, and an upstairs porch perfect for sleeping out! We think Ocean Grove is the best!

Cream cake review. Not as it appears

We were excited to rent the Creamcake as the pictures provided in the listing looked fantastic. We have stayed in Ocean Grove before at another rental and enjoyed our time and the attractions the area provides. Unfortunately upon arrival at the Creamcake we could see the photos on VRBO did not provide an accurate account of the conditions. First thing the floors were so dirty that we could not allow our baby to crawl on the floors. There was sand, dirt and food items everywhere. We contacted the manager and requested a vacuum as one was not on site. Later in the day the manager provided a vacuum and swifter so we could clean. We did appreciate this however expected the place to be cleaned prior to our check in. None of the beds were made, just a pile of sheets sitting on the bed. There was sand on the mattress’s which required cleaning. Several of the sheets had stains and could not be used until washed. The place looked as if the previous guest’s had left 5 minutes before we arrived. Everything just was not where and how it should have been. We had to wash a few pots and pans before we could use them because they were still dirty. Many things need updating to provide a comfortable stay. The garbage cans outside were overflowing with a complete bag ripped open and garbage everywhere. I guess the previous renter did not put cans out for pick up. So I had to clean up the mess and drag the three cans curb side for pick up or we would not be able to take the trash out. This could have been checked out by management prior to our arrival. We stay at rentals many times throughout the year and don’t mind cleaning throughout our stay to maintain cleanliness however it’s not something you want to do the day you arrive and certainly not cleaning up after the prior guest. Our last night we saw mice run out from under the basement door cross the kitchen and dissapppear into a large hole in the kitchen floor. We would certainly never rent the Creamcake again but would not hesitate to return to Ocean Grove.

A Gem by the Sea

We have rented in Ocean Grove for several seasons and this property was by far the best! We were happy with the location of the house and loved the owners, Scott and Catherine! They were very easy to work with and helpful. They did an excellent job making their home beach themed and it was just the right size for our family. It was also nice to find a rental that was child friendly. We can't wait to see them again next summer!

We had an absolutely spectacular week. Catherine and Scott were extremely helpful and made us feel welcome and at home. The house is conveniently located and had all the comforts of home. Ocean Grove is the best and so is the Creamcake front porch!

My family and I had a wonderful time in Ocean Grove over Fourth of July week! All of the Jersey shore is beautiful but Ocean Grove is especially laid-back and very quiet and peaceful. We rode our bicycles on the boardwalk in the early morning hours and enjoyed walking around the great auditorium and getting ice cream every evening. The house we stayed in is great and the owners were very helpful. We will definitely be back!

We live in Midtown Manhattan and bought this charming 1880 Victorian house 2 blocks from the beach in Ocean Grove, NJ to spend a few summer weeks. But because of our business obligations in the city, on many summer weeks our house will be empty and lonely unless you come stay here! You will enjoy amazing historical Ocean Grove, where every walk is a tour of the largest concentration of Victorian architecture in the US. June-through-September we rent our 3-bedroom house only by the week or longer, check-in and check-out on Saturdays. October to Memorial Day we generally rent by the month, sometimes by the week.
