An elegant bolt hole

We thoroughly enjoyed our autumn break in the former bicycle shop now transformed into a beautifully designed house. It’s central but quiet, close to shops, and has a small back garden.

Lovely, cosy cottage within easy reach of beach and high street.

Penny Farthing Cottage is comfortable, clean and well-equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The location is great - just a few minutes walk to the seafront and to the high street.

A great week

Quirky and interesting building and we enjoyed being so close to the centre and beaches. Clean and tidy and beds very comfortable. Could be a little more information on how things worked and places to see; and a washing line/airer would be useful. Parking a problem everywhere in Whitstable but there are frequent buses to Canterbury and other places such as Herne and Tankerton.

Whitstable weekend

Lovely modern cottage tucked away in a quiet residential road. All mod cons and facilities plus the benefit of a small garden. A great base for exploring Whitstable. Only downside was with the main shower head, which leaked when on full power so had to use hand shower attachment instead. As it was Easter weekend, it also took a while to find a parking space nearby.

A short break in Whitstable

The property was very clean and tidy with all the equipment we needed. Parking was a slight problem and we could not find any instructions about the working of appliances. Nonetheless we very much enjoyed our stay

The cottage has been tastefully decorated and the courtyard was a great little space. Unfortunately, there are some draw backs. It was quite dirty. It had been surface cleaned but there was a lot of thick dust and dirt on the floors, skirting boards. The bathroom was not particularly functional. It was very hard to get the exact temperature for a shower, there is a lot of limescale and water goes everywhere. It looks good but not practical. There was a basic level of kitchen equipment but there is no microwave and if you’re wanting to cook meals, there needs to be more thought to utensils. Again, style over practical. The fridge was not working when we arrived and a lot of our fresh food perished. The management company did replace the fridge but it was a lot smaller and took a day to become functional. They have not compensated us for the cost of the perished goods, in spite of sending across proof of purchase. Location is great. 5 min walk to Whitstable high street and 10 mins to seafront. Lots of shops, bakery, restaurants etc very close. There is a lot of noise at night. Parking is an issue but we didn’t mind walking 5 mins to find on back streets. Overall it has lots of positives but cleaning really does need addressing.

A great little getaway

We loved this quaint accommodation for our seaside getaway. An easy walk to the shore or downtown, a well equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine, a secluded courtyard to relax in, and comfortable beds with fresh linens. The staff at Keepers was friendly and easy to communicate. They tolerated our many questions with kindness and dealt with our questions or concerns immediately. We will definitely rebook this accommodation next time we are in Whitstable.

Penny Farthing

Really Interesting place. Stylish, high end furnishings and comfortable. Couple of things would make it more welcoming. Lot of dust on lampshades and behind TV. I notice cos allergic. Little things like a bit of tin foil, kitchen paper, couple of herbs and bit of oil would be nice. Washing machine provided but no tablets or clothes horse. Not too much to ask really. Outside space really needs cleaning especially as looking at broken windows of another property. Appreciate, not a lot you can do about that but at least it's quiet apart from kitchen extractor. Bins do Not a great introduction to the property but it grew on us.
