Bikini Top Cottage in the historic village of Longboat Key

The Bikini Top Cottage sweet spot for couples. Tiny Home in a Cozy Island village. The bungalow is on an alley way that leads directly to the kayak, boat launch, and restaurants. Walk down to view the sunrise coffee in hand with the Sailboat moorings and end your day at The Mar Vista restaurant. Make sure you walk out on the dock and look in the water around the sunken lights.
Across from The Village is the white sandy beach. Meander down the boardwalk and the beach opens up for miles of tranquil shoreline. The tip of the island feels more like you've discovered your own private island. With old trees laying in the water and no structures in site you can float out on the turquoise sandbar. Good spot to catch fish. Watch manatees and dolphins swim and dream of what this place was like before condos.
The cottages have an old time charm. Built in the 30's as apart of The Whitney Estate. After a hurricane washed away the main home the cottages where relocated for safer ground. Sturdy little 440 sq. ft. Homes. Handmade stone veneer clad the outside of the structure. Inside you will find a comfortable living space. One Queen size bed in the bedroom and Queen size fold out coach in main living room. Internet cable of course. Nice porch with shaded pergola and tropical landscaping. Cool evenings are perfect for starting a fire in the outdoor fireplace sitting back and relaxing in the comfortable patio furniture.
Once you're here you don't need to go very far to fill the day with a genuine Florida adventure. All you really need to do is allow the nature to come to you.
If you're into kayaking or paddle boarding this is a perfect launch pad. With in seconds on the water you will be surrounded by an array of activity. This is the destination boats come. Tropical clear sandbars are located at the mouth of the longboat pass. Boaters love this spot to spend the day floating in the currents along the shore. In the Sarasota flats there are a string of islands called the sister keys. Sandbars sea grass and secret Channels hold tons of life. Summer time is known for tarpon fishing also known as the silver king as they migrate up the coast.

Host Josh is wonderful in all regards. Great place….warm and cozy. Love, love the outdoor area/backyard .More like an outdoor living room with very comfortable cushioned chairs and Chaise. Wonderful time at Bikini Top Cottage

This was our second time staying in the village, but our first time at BTC. The cottage is adorable and you can’t have a more wonderful location with the short walks to the beach, bay, Mar Vista, Whitney’s, Sips, etc. The outdoor seating area is beautiful and cozy. We would love to stay at Josh’s again in the future.

Cozy Cottage

This was our second stay at this cottage. It is so tranquil but close to everything you want on a vacation. It's just a short drive to the beach and great restaurants. The owner was so kind to let us use the kayaks and even delivered them to our door when we asked about them. The outdoor living space is absolutely perfect! The addition of a small window A/C kept the cottage cool and comfortable even when the temps outside reached over 100 degrees. We definitely recommend and look forward to visiting this little oasis again soon.

Wonderful

We stayed at Josh’s place for 10 days. This part of LBK is very quiet and peaceful. The bay is at the end of the lane and we loved strolling down to enjoy the view. The place itself was perfect for the two of us. The best part is the large private patio with fireplace which we used frequently in the January chill. We loved going down the street for a cocktail at Whitney’s and the Marvista is also nearby with great food. We highly recommend Josh’s place—it is just like the pics, was spotless, and communications with Josh were great. We’d love to stay again

Cute Cottage with Beautiful Outdoor Living

This cottage is a perfect place to getaway! It's close to the beach and excellent dining choices are close by. The outdoor living space is spectacular and very inviting. The historic looking fireplace was so welcoming and even though it was the middle of summer, I just had to get it fired up. The cottage was very nicely supplied with many items you don't know you need until you need them. It even has a precious kitty cat that comes to visit daily. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen had everything you would ever need, and the cottage was spotless when we arrived. We will definitely return! I give this getaway 5 stars!!

Charming Cottage

We spent a month at Bikini Cottage and found it to be a perfect spot. Josh had the cottage well-stocked with supplies, the outdoor space was inviting and perfect for a morning cup of coffee, and the cottage had a charming beach feel. Nestled in the Historic section of Longboat Key, it provided easy to access the beach, St. Armand’s Circle, good restaurants and great shopping. A perfect spot for two people to enjoy!!

Wonderful location to enjoy all LBK has to offer

Couldn’t ask for a better spot to take in this beautiful area. From morning walks for sunrises over the bay to a short 5-min walk to the beach, this place is a central spot. The outdoor area was a personal favorite. Plus 3 restaurants in walking distance. Josh is very responsive and created a cottage for the perfect getaway. Very much enjoyed my three months soaking it all in.

Amazing, Dreamy, Wonderful

This was, without doubt, the best month of our life. This property is perfect. It is the perfect size for a couple. You can walk to the marina every morning or the beach every day. It is super clean, bright, and has everything you need: Beach chairs, beach towels, kitchen accessories. It is quiet but yet there are people around walking or riding bikes. Josh is awesome and is there to help with whatever you need. We will definitely stay here again.

AN EXCELLENT SUMMER IN A BEAUTIFUL HOME!

I stayed at this rental for about 4 months this past summer when I had an internship in downtown Sarasota. It was one of the best experiences I have ever had! I have no words for how amazing this property is! From a wonderful owner, Josh, who was there to answer any questions I had, to being a walk to the bay or the beach, and a quiet and secluded area with an awesome private backyard. The home was just the perfect size for me and offered a secluded getaway after work. An added bonus was Josh adding in bikes to use to ride to the beach or explore the island, and kayaks to spend some time on the water. If you are looking for anywhere to stay and getaway on Longboat Key, I could not recommend this location any more! Josh was wonderful to rent from and very kind, and I made great memories at my time spent here!

Peaceful and perfect!

I've been coming to LBK for almost 40 years (Eek! That long?!?) and love the Village. It's one of my favorite places in the world, and as soon as I drive over the bridge, I can feel myself relaxing. Bikini Top keeps that peaceful feeling going! The cottage is a tiny slice of perfection; the pictures don't nearly do it justice. It's laid out so well that I found myself not wanting to leave, because it met every need I had. Its kitchen is well-stocked, the bathroom and bedroom are comfortable and attractive, and the living space lends itself to hours of reading, painting, or simply watching TV. I visited in August, so it was a little too warm for me to fully enjoy the wonderful outdoor spaces, but during rainstorms, I loved sitting outside on the patio and listening to the thunder and watching the rain. The covered patio is not only beautiful, but it provided a great place to keep my bike and paddle board. I'm an inveterate overpacker, but I didn't need to be with Bikini Top - Josh has provided bikes, beach gear and everything you need to have a fabulous time! He also added an outdoor shower, which I used every single day - not only it is fun, but it kept me from tracking oodles of sand inside! The cottage is PERFECT if you're a paddler. Simply open the gate, grab your paddle gear and trot down to the launch by the Mar Vista. You can either paddle around the top of the island to Beer Can Island, or south to the mangroves where all the sea birds perch, or across to the Sister Keys. Watch for dolphins - they kept me company, and a juvenile was very inquisitive and liked to play around my board! I also was able to see swimming crabs, a raptor catching fish, and schools of bait fish trying to outrun a pod of 6 hungry dolphins. I can't wait to come back - after a snowy Colorado winter, a bit of summer sun and a tranquil couple of weeks is just what I need!

So Relaxing!

Our stay at Bikini Top Cottage was so quiet and relaxing. The cottage was great and plenty of room for two people. The outdoor space was a bonus. Longboat Village is super quiet with easy access to Sarasota or Cortez. The beach is just across the road and it is beautiful. The Mar Vista Restaurant is within walking distance or if you want to stay in, Harry's Deli is a great option for take out. We loved Bikini Top Cottage.

We had the BEST vacation by far! We brought our kayaks down & were only a block from the boat launch. We were on the water every day! Saw tons of dolphins every day that we went out. We rode the bikes over to the beach which was right across the street from the neighborhood. Saw manatees, caught lots of fish. We walked to the wonderful restaurant Mar Vista, a couple times. I had an awesome swordfish ceviche & a refreshing blueberry mojito with fresh mint. The house was absolutely adorable 🥰We had everything we needed. It rained a little while we were there, but the overhead cover on top of the pergola kept us dry so we could relax on the comfy furniture underneath. You definitely will not be disappointed with this cozy little gem! We will definitely rent this next year if Josh will have us back! Lol! He's a great guy too! We arrived a little later than scheduled & he called to make sure we weren't having trouble finding the place. Again, best vacation & we highly recommend you check this one out! Also, check out the Bridge Tender Inn on Anna Maria. Best bar and entertainment on the Island! Thanks Josh! 😁

We are longtime vacation home renters in Longboat Key and Anna Maria Island and decided to give the Longbeach Village area a try - and we are so glad we did! Bikini Top Cottage was just perfect for the two of us. Every morning we walked 2 minutes to the town dock and had our breakfast watching the pelicans and dolphins play in the bay. A 5-minute walk in the opposite direction puts you at the edge of the Gulf of Mexico and its beautiful beaches. Kayaks, bikes, surfboards, skimboards, beach chairs and umbrellas are all graciously supplied by Josh, the owner of the property. You'll find a wonderful restaurant within walking distance (Mar Vista) and many others just a short walk or drive away. Many thanks to Josh for his help and hospitality. We'll be back for sure!

Perfect for what we were looking for

The Bikini Top Cottage was just perfect for us. We were celebrating our 46th wedding anniversary and just needed a relaxing get-away. The cottage is well appointed with everything we needed. It was cute, modern and private even though it's in a residential neighborhood. Location to the beach is certainly walkable and the beach is not crowded at all. Close proximity to Bradenton Beach/Anna Maria Island where there's always lots going on if you want that kind of thing. Will definitely be back.

Bikini Top Cottage was perfect for us. We took advantage of the paddle board and the Kayak to see all the beauty on the water. The fireplace at night was so peaceful after a day of sun and fun. Josh was very helpful with any needs we had....We will be back.

Magnificiant Cottage

Longboat Key Village is the place to stay on the island. The cottage is perfect for two people. Although small, the cottage is plenty big enough for two people. Location, location, location. Close to the bay, close to the beach, and very close to Beer Can Beach, a super cool natural beach. Close to kayak rental at Island Adventure Outfitters; see Sean the owner. Very close to Cortez and you must go to Star Fish, a fantastic seafood market and restaurant. We can't wait to return. And Josh is a super great guy.

Everything I wanted & more

I really enjoyed the cottage! It was clean it had plenty of towels and dishes, cleaning supplies and even basic foods like salt, sugar, oil etc.. The place is so cute and the location is awesome! There's a publix 8 minutes away in both north & south directions. There's a nice restaurant about a minute walk, super lovely to have bikes to use. Great spot to watch sunset just across the main st (gulf of Mexico) plus, I felt it was located pretty close to everything. Owners left me clear instructions and everything went smoothly. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Longboat Key.
