POSITION:
The seaside town of Mancaversa is rocky with small, intermittent cove-like sandy landings where people can easily enter the water or set up their umbrellas. The shallow water makes it easy for everyone to swim, including small children. About 1-2 km away there is the natural reserve Punto Pizzo with its Lido, or beach club, that marks the beginning of the stretch of beaches in Gallipoli known as Baia Verde. Here visitors have to the option to rent sun beds, umbrellas and purchases drinks and snacks from the concession stand. Alternatively, a 10-15 minute drive south will bring you to the beach of Torre San Giovanni in Ugento. Here beach goers have about 12km of sandy beach to spread out on.

The villa is very new and clean. The hosts are very proud and particular about the property which shows in how it is maintained. The villa is advertised with an agency in Italy who then advertise on Vrbo so I was a little worried but everything was really smooth once we were in Italy. Simona and Giovanna (the owners) were in contact via Whats App where we communicated easily despite neither of us speaking the same language both using translate apps both for whats app and in person. They were lovely hosts and were really good at checking everything was ok in the house and pool. The pool is not very big or deep, but perfect for cooling off and lounging around. The house is spacious and has all things you will need (we bought beach umbrellas which we left at the villa) but would benefit from a small welcome package on arrival. We had to buy everything including salt, pepper and oil to get us started as there were no basics in the villa. It is a beautiful villa for families with plenty of space and good facilities and a BBQ for cooking. There are good restaurants nearby and the most amazing sandy beaches within approx 30mins. This is a very Italian holiday area and we hardly heard any english tourists (which we were more than happy with) but all places nearby were friendly and helpful. Woudl recommend the villa for a chilled family holiday and great for checking our local towns in the evening.
