Scary cabin

This was just a mess. There was a hole in the kitchen floor I thought I might fall through. It reeked of mold and the whole cabin was slanted like it was going to fall off the mountain. The hot tub only had a few jets that worked so that was disappointing. It just felt DIRTY!!

Great location

We had a good time with our first visit to Gatlinburg. The location of this place was handy for us to get into the park and to just get into downtown. Right next to a little convenience store for things you might need as well. The place was built in the 60’s so it has some mileage on it. It’s not a 5 star hotel. If you keep your expectations realistic this was a great place to stay. The owner was very clear and responsive.

Great location, but needs some tlc

Literally the most convenient cabin I have rented in Gatlinburg. Only a couple miles to downtown, and the park entrance. We saw two bears on the property too, that was a bonus! Cons are that the cabin is older and not well maintained. Several light bulbs were out and the hot tub was filthy. The decking is in need of replacement and the air hockey table is falling apart, we couldn't even use it. Lots of spiderwebs outside the cabin. If this property were cleaned up and maintained properly, we would rent it again in the future.

Abandoned chalet

I didn't even stay there for half an hour. At the beginning of my reservation I was trying with the lady to let me accommodate one more child and my dog that by mistake I did not add it at the time of booking, the lady was not nice she did not want to help me, so I respected her rules and we only went to the chalet 3 members of my family of 6 . the other members I left them in a hotel with my mom, when I arrived at the cabin omg the cabin was an abandoned house full of spiderwebs the floor was not safe it sank when walking, the porch felt downhill the swings were not safe, too many spiderwebs outside, a spider almost bit my daughter, I call Vrbo's customer service and send photos and videos, after a few hours she cancel for reasons of not wanting to follow the rules according to the lady, I arrived at 7 and after 2 hours she leave us out in the middle of the night we all stayed in a single hotel room. But thank God I didn't stay in that abandoned cabin scary 😟 .

Not as I expected

The cabin description was accurate, just very misleading. The “creek” was a stream on the other side of a very busy street. There was literally a cabin right beside us. The cabins can see in on each other through the lofts. All of the pictures on vrbo were completely accurate, I just wish there would have been pictures of the surroundings from the cabin balcony. If you are looking for something quiet and private...this is not your cabin. We could hear cars driving by the cabin all night. And the driveway was very tight since you share it with the other cabin. And just an FYI, we went over Christmas, so the line to get into Ober Gatlinburg was all the way down ski road into gatlinburg, which meant that we couldn’t get back to our cabins driveway because of the bumper to bumper traffic. All in all, we made the best of it, but won’t go back to this cabin. The owner/manager was quick to get back with us when I asked a question, just over all, we didn’t enjoy the cabin.

Bed Bugs & Selfish Host

I wish I could attach photos. DO NOT STAY HERE! This Cabin has bed bugs. VRBO confirmed my photos/videos - this Cabin is infested! Unlike the host, my photo/video evidence doesn't lie. Will be writing a review in other places attaching evidence. The host swears there are no bugs but it is all lies. The headboard is infested with larvae and droppings! I was bit all over! I am highly allergic to biting bugs and had an allergic reaction. Geri also said she was sending pest control to spray the place. Only a housekeeper showed up to make the bed. Geri is still under the impression she doesn't have bugs. I pray she gets rid of her bugs so future tenants do not have to go through what we did! Geri has not compensated us for our troubles. Please save yourself the trouble and don't book here!!!

!!!PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE BOOKING!! Don't waste your money!!!

We were so excited to get there and see this beautiful cabin that is shown here in the pictures. We arrive with much disappointment. After spending a lot of money we get there to a porch full of leaves and even a pile of poop. We open the door to an awful smell and very dirty floors. The kitchen was not usable due to the filth. The Keurig machine did not work after us looking at it we could tell that it had never been cleaned the stove was full of dust and the other coffee machine was horrible as well. Trust me it gets worst! The downstairs bathroom had hair all over the toilet the shower looked either very old or just dirty. The downstairs bedroom was okay the sheets had some dirt in them but that is nothing compared to what the upstairs bedroom sheets had on them, I will get there in a minute. My grandfather was with us and he was going to sleep on the "newly updated sofa mattress" That's a complete joke we undid the sofa and pulled out the mattress to find all kinds of stains and NO sheets anywhere to be found. He had to sleep on the couch the whole vacation. Now to talk about the upstairs, the wonderful game room with plenty of options for the kids to play was another of the many jokes of this place, yes there are options of games to play but not one of them has all the parts so for that you can not play any of them. The upstairs bedroom sheets were full of semen. I have pictures. The road to get to the cabin are horrible as well as the SHARED SMALL driveway!

Old Cabin In The Woods

We were excited to arrive and check out our place for the week. It’s a beautiful property, very peaceful and has a nice wrap around porch. The inside was about what we expected except It smelled like mildew. The hot tub outside did not function properly as the jets did not work. It happened to downpour during our entire stay. The area above the kitchen sink and windows leak badly. Be careful in the “hallway” as my husband (230lbs) felt like he could easily bust through the floor. My daughter (10 yo) refused to use the shower downstairs because of the mold growing on the shower curtain. If there happen to be other guests occupying the adjacent property; maneuvering your vehicle at night can be dangerous. The driveway is steep and It’s a tight parking area. Three-point turns are a must! Overall decent stay (would not return), excellent communication with owner.

A quaint cabin close to everything!

Upon entering the cabin, we relished in how cute and cozy the Smokey Mountain decor was. The layout of the cabin was a bit crowded because of the furniture, but we appreciated there was enough seating for all five of us.I will say, we were disappointed with the lack of Christmas decor (i.e. a tree, garland, etc.), because the description claimed it would be decorated. The description also said there was a gas log fireplace, but it was a space heater which projected flames onto the wall. Kept us warm, but, no s'mores. The hot water was not the best. My husband and I were really looking forward to the two person jacuzzi tub. We made our kids shower in the morning, and in the evening, we set off to fill our tub for a romantic Christmas Eve bath. However, by the time the tub filled enough to cover our ankles, the hot water ran out. I suppose the extra large tub was too much for the hot water heater in winter. The final reason for a three star rating is Klaus. Klaus is the black mouse we found out already lived in the cabin. Klaus took a liking to me, and greeted me each time I arose to make coffee or started a load in the washer. I know mice are common in a wooded setting, and he did not ruin our enjoyment of the cabin, but I can imagine he would startle more than a few patrons. Ultimately, we had a wonderful time. This cabin is close to everything, has several amenities, and was as described. Thank you, Geri, for what my kids call "The Best Christmas EVER!!!"

I have always loved the Smoky Mountains & my favorite memories when my Daddy would take the whole family there on yearly trips. As a young girl, I can remember seeing beautiful chalets & cabins setting high in those mountains & thought that was just about the coolest thing that I had ever seen! For many years, it has been a dream of mine to have one of those for myself. I now have several mountain cabins & they are all very special to me.

I purchased SomeWhere in Time in early 2017, right after the Smoky Mountain wildfires of 2016. I lost a cabin in those fires that I had only owned for just 6 weeks. had just finished remodeling it inside & outside. I searched to find a replacement & found SomeWhere In Time. Contractors & I worked on it the entire summer of 2017, It has been remodeled from the ground up to the roof.

I really love taking all of all my cabins, remodeling, redecorating & making them very special, cozy & comfortable home-away from home for my guests & myself & my pets to enjoy. Of course, all of them are pet-friendly because I know how important it is to take your 4-legged best buddies along on vacation. Below are my properties:

Why they chose this property

I love the designs of the original Gatlinburg chalets & cabins, Somewhere in Time is an A-Frame design. I was so thrilled to find an A-frame since my Daddy had built a small A-frame on his lot close to Ky Lake years before & that brought back such wonderful memories.

It Is surrounded by beautiful mature trees of the Smoky Mountains & has an ever-running creek that you can see & hear from the chalet 24 hours a day.

Setting high above Ski Mountain Road makes this location so convenient & just perfect for visiting Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge & Sevierville. Shopping, restaurants, events, activities & sight-seeing is just 2 miles away in the very unique town of Gatlinburg.

Just turn right out of the driveway & you will be in downtown Gatlinburg & at the entrance of Great Smoky Mountain National Park is just a few minutes. When going to Pigeon Forge, take the Gatlinburg ByPass to miss all the downtown Gatlinburg traffic.

Now for the most fun way to go to downtown Gatlinburg & leave the driving & parking issues behind, just turn left out of the driveway, go a mile on the same road & dead-end into Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort, park & hop on the glassed-in Arial Tram. It holds 120 people & leaves & returns every 20 minutes from early till late every day. This will give you spectacular birds-eye views of the area & downtown Gatlinburg.. There are trolleys downtown that will take you to various parts of the area.

Bonus is a market/deli next door with groceries, home-made pizza, burgers, beer, beverages. It is so handy to just walk down the driveway steps & be right in the market's parking lot. If you forget that bottle of ketchup, you won't even have to get in the car, just walk down the steps. How convenient is that!

Ski Mountain Road is known for often seeing bears. I watched them almost daily when working on the chalet in the summer of 2017. Many of my guests are thrilled to see the bears & often send me pictures of them in the driveway. I love that!

What makes this property unique

This is one of the original unique chalets on Ski Mountain Road in Gatlinburg. It has been remodeled & redecorated from top to bottom.

The location of 'SomeWhere In Time' is just the best! It is only 2 miles to downtown Gatlinburg & the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, straight down Ski Mountain Road when pulling out of the driveway to the right. And, when turning left out of the driveway, you will dead-end into Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort.

Next door is Chalet Village Market & Deli where you can buy homemade pizza, burgers, beverages, beer & groceries. How convenient if you forget that bottle of mustard!! There are steps leading from my driveway right into the parking lot of the market. They will also deliver to the chalet.

The chalet is furnished with log furniture keeping with the Smoky Mountain tradition.

The covered deck has a huge log swing & rocker to enjoy the natural scenery & keep an eye out for bears that frequently walk thru my driveway & down Ski Mountain Road.
