The historic Art Deco Hardaway Cottage can host your special event or vacation.
The Hardaway Cottage is a 1933 Georgian style home that was built on the grounds of the historic Roosevelt Warm Springs campus as a vacation home by Mrs. Rebecca Hardaway.
This fascinating home retains its Art Deco cool vibe while allowing guests to enjoy the beauty of a private setting surrounded by the Georgia State Park system. The spectacular views can be a place to relax on the front porch, grill out back, or unwind with a good book. Spend time cooking, entertaining, or soaking up the amazing history of the area. Often you will spot deer, coyote, chimney swifts, or more.
The house has a living room with fireplace, dining room, eat-in kitchen, three bathrooms and four bedrooms. The main bedroom with a King size bed is on the main floor. The other three bedrooms are upstairs. There is a sun porch/solarium with the most beautiful windows that adjust for any amount of light or breeze. The beautiful open porch across the front of the home can accommodate up to fifty guests. The master suite and bathroom on the main level of the home is handicapped accessible. The main level of the home is ADA compliant with wheelchair access to the parking area front and side porches and all rooms on the first floor. The home sleeps 8/10 guests.
This home is unique in so many ways. The history begins with Rebecca Hardaway who represents the industrial revolution. Her husband had founded the Hardaway Construction Company. After Benjamin Hardaway died Rebecca sold original Coca Cola stock to realize her dream of investing in a dual purpose home in Warm Springs. She already knew and love the area, and in creating the Hardaway Cottage hoped to accommodate both vacationers and people seeking treatment at the newly founded treatment center. Some key features that Rebecca designed are the beautiful marble fireplace, the 1930s tile bathrooms on the second floor of the home, and the rope-pulled elevator. The elevator is available for viewing as part of a tour of the home, but is not for use by guests.
After the death of Rebecca the home was purchased by the Charles Glenn family. Ms. Glenn had disabling arthritis and Alexander Glenn had polio. Both benefited from the homes innovative design for the use by people with disabilities. Clearly, the family was taking advantage of the treatment available for Alex at the historic polio treatment center. During WWII Dr. Charles Glenn commuted between Warm Springs GA and Oak Ridge TN the secret city where the Atom bomb was developed. The house was home to three daughters in addition to the baby of the family Alex. During WWII the two oldest sisters resided in the home with their "war babies" so the house was full of life and hope during this time.
** The Hardaway has a security camera on the garage that makes activity in the back parking lot visible.

The hosts seemed very available. I did not need them for anything. The house was amazing and the history of the house was extra. Ammenities were perfect even the Christmas tree and decorations. Lovely trip and will consider again!

Thank You! I love making an effort to make the holiday experience for guests extra special!
We visited to tour Callaway and The Biblical History Center and the house was an extra bonus. The homeowners offered a tour of the home. Staying in the home is like staying in a history museum! Well Done.

Thank you so much for your kind words! We love telling about the house!
We were in Warm Springs for a small family event, with family and friends coming into town from the Midwest and from the coast. The Hardaway Cottage was perfect for us!
Upon arrival smell at back door, coming from overflowed garbage can left from previous guests. Found hair in fridge upon putting away groceries. Ice maker not working. Awaken at 2 am .. noise coming from truck leaving onsite cottage. Temperature upstairs bedrooms got hot.

I am very sorry you had a poor experience. I wish that as soon as you arrived you had contacted us so that we could have had the house cleaned.
If you want to stay in a home that comes alive with history, this is a good bet. It's like staying in an antebellum home with modern amenities, such as wireless internet. Additionally, the porch views are quite relaxing, set against a rolling hill forest. The owners were very responsive and even gave us a private tour of the house, sharing its history with us.

Thank You for your kind words. I am so glad 😀 you had a good time!
While this majestic home sits with so much rich history one could be taken back in time to imagine the dinners with FDR and the laughter and fun times. Unfortunately this home is in need of some TLC. While these things didn’t keep us from enjoying our stay. Some basic repairs (replace broken window panes, mildew removal on porch furniture and outside of house)would only enhance the beauty of this home.
What a treat it was to stay in this beautiful, historical home! It was a perfect location for our trip to Callaway Gardens and Pine Mountain.. We had a fully stocked kitchen that was a great asset for preparing our Thanksgiving meal. We hope to return!

Thank You for your kind remarks! I am so happy it worked well for you!
Beautiful property. Has a very historic feel with updates to make your stay comfortable. We loved that the town of warm springs was just down the hill but it felt secluded. We went to enjoy the fantasy of lights at Callaway gardens. Callaway gardens is about 25 minutes away. Nice scenic drive along the way.

Great trip
The house was as described. We loved the Christmas decorations!! There was plenty of room for our family and the home has been well maintained. The owner was very attentive and responded timely with any questions we had. We enjoyed our stay and definitely enjoyed this beautiful home!!!
Our family stayed here over Thanksgiving and loved that we had plenty of room for everyone while also getting to stay in a historical house with an interesting history. It was quiet and peaceful and we enjoyed visiting the local sights and town. Being wheelchair accessible was a must for our family and it was amazing to find a house like this that fit the bill. I’d highly recommend for family gatherings.

I am thrilled to hear that it worked so well for you!
Beautiful historic home. Hosts were very attentive and informative about the history of the house. Location was perfect. Close to town, but in the woods. Many original features (so remember it’s an older home). Loved sitting on the sun porch in the mornings and on the front porch in the evenings. Even saw a few deer. Plenty of room and comfortable beds.
Has been a lovely home but needs some maintenance. This did not bother us as we had a lovely time in this spacious home. The rooms, baths and total layout was great for our family. Visited the Little White House, Callaway Gardens and Hills and Dale home and gardens in Lagrange. Good time by all.
