First, the good: - excellent location. About as central as it gets, close to pretty much everything. - stunning views from the balcony - very quiet. Could sleep with the window open. Whisper quiet even during day. - host was responsive and the repair guy they sent (minor things) was very professional - sheets were clean in all rooms and spares were provided. Which was a life saver for us - house has a nice warm feel to it. As if it is (or was) someone's home not just a place to rent - best coffee shop in the city is 10 feet away And the bad: - house was unacceptably dirty. The bathroom had an extremely strong mold and mildew smell (took us a week of repeated cleaning for the smell to go away). Floors and carpets were dirty and so were the cushions on the futon and the couch. All require at least a steam wash if not replace. In general, the visible and common things (dishes, table, beds etc.) were clean while any hard(er) to reach areas were not touched in years. Not the usual "hotel thing" either. Looked like no one vacuumed or washed the floors for many months. There were dust bunnies everywhere. - single toilet is separate and very tiny. About half the surface area of a plane lavatory - photos listed on the website are old and taken when everything was fresh. State now is nowhere near what the photos imply. The stairs paint is chipped in multiple areas, floors are dirty, the nook with the TV takes some getting used to, etc. The fireplace was there but unusable. No wood.
