Beautiful all-season cabin in a peaceful, phenomenal location at a great price

Relaxing retreat in Matlock, Manitoba on southwest shore of Lake Winnipeg. Fully furnished, two-bedroom cabin, sleeps 4-6. One large bedroom with a double bed and a smaller bedroom with a single loft bed. As well as a moveable single cot and a couch that folds out into a bed for one adult or two children. Kitchen and bathroom both have all amenities needed. High speed internet and flat screen TV with HDMI cable is provided so you can plug in your device (laptop, tablet, X-Box) and stream Netflix, internet, games, etc. Use our deep fryer and/or barbecue with supplied propane on the giant wrap-around deck. Located on pristine 45-acre nature preserve, with paths through tall grass prairie, meadow, forest, wetland, ponds, meditative labyrinth, land art, and more. The cabin sits on a nature preserve teeming with birds, animals, insects, frogs, grasses, sedges, flowers, forests, ponds, etc. Two-minute walk to main beach, restaurant, store and sports courts. Year-round activities include swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, biking, birding, ice fishing, snowshoeing, skiing, skating, snowmobiling, sledding. This location is famous for its birding and wildlife viewing. Cabin is tucked away on a beautiful nature preserve and is right next to the town of Matlock where there are lots of amenities including spectacular beaches on the southwest shore of Lake Winnipeg. There's plenty of room to park your vehicles, snow machines, boats and other toys right next to the cabin. Lake access by vehicle, snowmobile or boat is just minutes away.

Rustic Cabin

The cabin was functional for our stay. It was clean and had the necessities needed. There was WIFI, but it was weak. There is a small tv, but no streaming device. We enjoyed our time at the cabin.

If it is raining the area around the cabin is wet enough to require boots.

Very tiny...everything you needed was available....well no TV remote....but a TV!! Just a bit tired....maybe we were the first folks this spring. The back door didn't this revuew is difficult to close again once it was opened so bit of a breeze. This review is difficult to write as you can't see what you are writing..i do not find your web site friendly at all. breeze coming in..host tried to

Great location

Super close to the lake. Lovely property with lots of space to explore (bring your DEET in spring, ticks are no joke ;) ). The cabin is quite small, but has a great deck and lots of yard space. It was plenty of room for 4 of us for a few nights. The base board heaters worked great on the cooler nights. The only 2 things I'd mention (but didnt detract from my overall rating) are the mattresses aren't comfortable for anyone who is on the larger side. I found the big bed fine, but hubby struggled a bit. My older 150lb son had a hard time with the thin bunk mattress. The younger kiddo was good on the top bunk, but he's a lightweight. The second thing really is a non-issue but some people might be off-put by the malodorous well water. I got used to it quickly, but my teenagers are dramatic and decided not to shower, hahaha. This isn't anything that can be changed, it simply is what it is. We would 100% stay again happily. Thank you for a great stay! (May 9-12/2024)

great quite location, could improve on cleanliness

The owners very nice people, communication was good. Very nice and quit area. Great for a relaxing weekend. But cabin was not very clean, which was bit disappointing and also had a havy smoking smell, which would have been good to know before hand. Otherwise enjoyed our little get away!

Paradise at the lake

This cabin was smaller than expected but the deck and setting were magnificent. One of the 'bedrooms' was actually a closet with a single bunk in it. I would not put more than three adults or two adults and two children here. The grounds were wonderful, so many birds and trees to enjoy! I would definitely recommend this as a short stay destination.

Thanks for the kind words about your stay. Glad you had a good time. Indeed, this is a small cabin with an extremely large deck situated on a 45-acre property that all guests can access. But, just to clarify, the second bedroom is not a closet; it used to be part of a much larger kitchen in which we created this second bedroom space to offer guests a bit more privacy. Awesome cottage close to Lake Winnipeg

Our stay at this cottage was so relaxed. We enjoyed the warmth and quietness of the cabin. We were able to do some hiking and exploring around the area - quite beautiful! We were there at a very cold time of year, so most of our time was spent inside. We were amazed at how warm the cabin stayed and also how quiet it was inside even with the winds howling outside. I would recommend updating the bedding and mattress. The comforters and sheets had some stains and the mattress was very soft and did not allow for much support or for two people to sleep comfortably without rolling to the center. Overall, we would come back in a heartbeat to enjoy nature and quiet! Thank you!

Small and cozy cabin. Nicely situated out of view from the other cabins. Family beach is nearby. I liked just staying in the cabin or on the porch. It is nice how they have things stocked in case you forget something-like a jacket or cooking oil! Wish I could stay there longer.
