Eriksberg in Bokenäs Villa Erik is located in Eriksberg in Bokenäs—a peaceful, picturesque, and scenic area on the west coast, right by the sea. Villa Erik sits on a waterfront lot, and all windows facing the sea offer fantastic ocean views. Here, you can enjoy the sun from morning until sunset. Villa Erik is adjacent to swimming spots, cliffs, the archipelago, and beautiful walking trails. From the house, it’s only about a 3-minute walk to the nearest swimming pier and about a 5-minute walk to a kid-friendly beach and pier—perfect for both morning swims and lazy summer days with the family.
The area also features two great restaurants, Västersalt and Esters Sjöbod. There’s also a lovely seaside sauna where you can relax, and you can even reserve it for private use. If you’re looking for more relaxation, you can book a day spa at Bokenäs Spa, located about a 10-minute bike ride from Villa Erik.
Rotans Livs is the nearest supermarket and carries just about everything—from food to clothing, toys, and other items you might need during your holiday.
Twenty minutes away is Torp Shopping Centre, one of western Sweden’s largest shopping centers with over 100 stores, cafés, and restaurants. Here you’ll find, among other things, fashion boutiques, sporting goods stores, home decor shops, a pharmacy, a off-licence, and large supermarkets like ICA Maxi and Coop.
Things to See and Do on the West Coast The area offers an authentic West Coast experience with saltwater swimming, crab fishing, hiking, and excursions along the Bohuslän coast, but also features the vibrancy of city life with restaurants, shopping, concerts, and cultural events.
The Kalvön Nature Reserve is a 10-minute bike ride and about a 25-minute walk from Villa Erik. The nature reserve features beautiful hiking trails and coastal nature.
City centre Uddevalla is about 30 minutes away. There are year-round activities here, a charming city centre area with cafés, shops, and restaurants, as well as the popular boardwalk along Byfjorden. Uddevalla also offers cultural attractions, a cinema, playgrounds, a public swimming pool, and several family-friendly activities. During the summer, concerts, events, and activities are often held in the city centre and at the harbour.
The popular Hafsten Resort is about 20 minutes away. It offers a wide variety of activities suitable for both children and adults: a pool area with a water slide, a high ropes course and zipline, mini-golf, paddleboarding, tennis, and kayak and SUP rentals.
Hafsten also has a beautiful swimming area that’s free to use. It features a pier, a diving tower, and a nice playground. There are also lovely hiking trails and scenic viewpoints in the surrounding nature.
From the Skår ferry terminal, you can easily and free of charge take the ferry to Finnsbo, Lysekil, and Gullmarsfjorden, as well as on to some of Bohuslän’s most popular destinations.
The crossing takes only about 10 minutes, making it easy to explore different parts of the coast during your holiday. On the other side, you’ll find Lysekil with its cosy restaurants, shopping, concerts, and well-known attractions such as Havets Hus and the Stångehuvud Nature Reserve.
A 15-minute drive from Villa Erik brings you to Fiskebäckskil—a popular destination and a classic West Coast community with narrow alleys, captains’ villas, blooming gardens, and small piers along the water. Here, you can stroll among boathouses, cafés, and restaurants. If you continue west on Skaftö, you’ll find Grundsund, a charming old fishing village. Here you’ll find a picturesque harbour, narrow alleys, closely clustered boathouses, restaurants, and an authentic West Coast atmosphere.
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can rent a kayak and paddle out to Bassholmen from Kärlingesund, about a 15-minute drive from Villa Erik. Bassholmen is an idyllic little island located in the middle of the beautiful Nordströmmarna straits, near Uddevalla, Orust, and Lysekil. The island is a nature reserve with both hiking trails and picnic areas. Several species of seabirds live here, and during the summer months, cows graze freely along the beautiful beach meadows. On the second Saturday in July, Bassholmen Day is always celebrated with activities in the harbour, and the beautiful wooden boats hoist their cotton sails and sail out into the currents.
The area around Bassholmen and Nordströmmarna is protected and often calm, making it a gem for kayaking and suitable for both beginners and experienced paddlers. The easiest way to rent a kayak is at Bokenäset (through Bokenäset or Upplevelsebolaget) or Flatö Kajakcenter.
An hour away lies the Nordic Watercolour Museum in Skärhamn on Tjörn—a vibrant old fishing village that is now the island’s main town. Here you’ll find a charming mix of white wooden houses, modern restaurants, and a bustling guest harbour. The Nordic Watercolour Museum is an international art centre that’s also known for its award-winning architecture.
Gothenburg is about an hour and a half away and is Sweden’s second-largest city, often called “Little London”—a coastal metropolis known for its trams, fresh seafood, and laid-back atmosphere. Here you’ll find everything from Liseberg, the Nordic region’s largest amusement park, to museums and Feskekôrka, which is famous for its fish and shellfish.
