We had a great time at this property. It was clean, comfy and spacious for our two families to explore the area. We loved being so close to downtown Hill City and the train station!
This is our second stay at this location and it is still the best spot. Hill City has a lot to offer and is in the middle of everything to do in the Black Hills.
Place was great, had everything we needed and very cool to watch and hear the train right out the front. Perfect central location to explore all of the Black Hills!
This is a wonderful property — clean, spacious and a convenient location. We could easily walk to the grocery store or into downtown Hill City to enjoy the restaurants. The house has two huge gathering areas: a spacious living room on the first floor and a magnificent, huge sunroom on the second floor. We enjoyed watching the turkeys from the sunroom. The kitchen was well-equipped with everything we needed.
Wonderful house! Close to everything and so spacious for hanging out too. We loved the decks.
This property is beautiful! The house is well kept and super roomy. The beds were comfy. The kitchen was well equipped.
It's a perfect location for cycling the Michelson Trail and visiting Custer State Park.
We hated to leave!
Location was perfect for the things we wanted to do. The house is spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The owner is friendly and responsive. What more could you ask for?
We had an amazing time and Jill was great! Loved being able to walk to town, watch wild life and the convenience of being centrally located to Rapid City, Custer, Keystone, Deadwood and others. Highly recommend!
Wonderful house and fantastic location with a picture perfect view overlooking the 1880 train. Plenty of room for kids. Hill city is also welcoming with a good variety of shops and dining choices.

We enjoyed staying here very much. Great location, lots of space, clean, and extremely comfortable. Everyone loved watching the 1880 train and deer traveling across the property. Thank you for the wonderful experience. We hope to stay again sometime.

Thanks, Jen! The deer is our favorite part-- walking distance to downtown, but woodsy and private. We also have turkey strut by in the fall. I am glad you all had a nice stay and please do come back to the Hills!
The house has everything we needed for our family. We cooked every day and the kitchen had all the equipment we needed. Also used the Blackstone on the deck. We loved seeing and hearing the train. Would stay there again for sure.
Very nice cottage overlooking the 1880 train station. Watch the steam train get ready from the front porch. Wonderful central Black Hills location. Great host. Nice kitchen, living space, back inclosed porch, and decks.

Thank you John for your kind words! I hope you will visit us again!
Very nice place in a quite area to relax. We spent time on the front porch watching the deer , and train come and go. We spent time in the back sunroom playing games as a family. The house has plenty of space for everyone. The home is centerly located to travel in any direction to various daily outings.
This property worked well for our first visit to South Dakota and all of its attractions. The location was convenient to reach the national parks, Custer state park, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and the 1880's train which is right next door. The property is spacious and the owner was helpful in providing chairs to take to the buffalo roundup so that we did not have to pack and bring them. We appreciated the proximity to Main Street Hill City.

Liked: Check-in, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Cleanliness, communication
Just a few things we had trouble with. The refrigerator kept freezing the food, the stove was not easy to cook on and took a long time to cook the food, and no pots and pans with lids to fit. The people are very friendly and try hard to please you. There are a lot of stairs if you can't do stairs, you won't get in and hard to unload suit cases and groceries.
The house was in a great location - it is less than an hour from Custer, Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Spearfish Canyon, Deadwood, Wineries, etc,. Within walking distance of main area of Hill City, but far enough away to be quiet. The house was very nice and better than the pictures portray. Kitchen was well stocked, beds were comfortable, and many supplies were provided. We spent much of our time on the front porch and front picnic table overlooking downtown, the train station, and the many deer that happen by. We would definitely stay here again.

Our family bought this house after Hurricane Katrina sent us north for a couple of years. We loved it, and decided to keep it for summers. We hope to someday move here permanently.
Why they chose this property
Proximity to downtown Hill City, but still feels woodsy. We love the burgeoning arts scene in Hill City, as well as the small town feel. Swimming in the lakes, fishing, hiking and biking the trails are favorite summer past times.
What makes this property unique
This home has a great view of downtown, and yet deer walk by the window in the early morning and evening. We love the open great room, with the catwalk crossing overhead. We love that it is comfortable both for adults and children. The fireplace when it is cool/cold is lovely.
