Had a wonderful stay at Playa Espinar. Home was beautifully appointed and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Beautiful quiet beach and within driving distance to many sights (waterfalls, surfing lessons). Highly recommend - would love to stay again.
Beautiful beach to enjoy in a quiet location that is close enough to many amenities. Best feature - location! The house was clean & well equipped, providing ample beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, toys, for la playa. It should be mentioned that during our visit the sea was too rough for swimming with the exception of 1 very calm day out of 7. Many other beautiful beaches to explore, and maybe during other times of the year the waters here are better for swimming. We still had a wonderful time. Don't miss the bioluminescent bay!
Our family of 9 enjoyed our time in this wonderful home. Plenty of room for all of us. The beach was so much fun. We felt like we had it all to ourselves.
Three families stayed here for the week. We had a blast on the beach, easy driving but everything we wanted to do was close to our house. We really didn’t have too many plans other than relaxing in the sun and swimming in the ocean.
This is a w wonderful property with all the amenities- house is perfectly located and the views are just breathtaking- the hosts were so wonderful and communicative!
And the Sunsets! To die for!
We Loved it and will be back for sure!
Thank you for everything! Our family had an amazing time!
Six of us stayed here for a week in February. Everyone of us enjoyed the location enjoyed the house. Two restaurants nearby to walk to. Grocery store within driving distance. Walk right out to the beach and right out to the ocean. Great walks on the beach. Room for all six of us. We never felt crowded. Great decks to sit on with great views and a great sunset every night.
Wonderful stay, great weather, lovely people. We were a large family group and the property was right on the beach so the little ones had their fill of swimming and surfing. There are a few little things that would improve the property, soap holders in all the showers, new medicine cabinets and increased seating in the living area. Gracias to Agapito, the very gracious caretaker.
We just returned from our family vacation, The house was great! Booking to arrival was a breeze. Love the house, plenty of space for our family of 9, my husband and I, grown children and granddaughters ages 9-12. The house was spotless, and had lots of amenities. Agapito met us on arrival and showed us around, he was so welcoming and helpful. The beach was so nice, had it all to ourselves. The girls loved boogie boarding! The view was beautiful, and listening to the waves was so relaxing. Restaurants and stores so close, and a great bakery right around the corner. I highly recommend this house!
My family and I stayed at this location and instantly upon arrival we were all impressed. Phenomenal view and access to the ocean. Multiple spaces to unwind as you drink a cafecito while you watch the waves rolling in. Kichen has everything we could need for our stay and more. Property manager was attentive and kind. He offered suggestions of where to eat and things to do. Space was clean and welcoming. I could not find one negative thing to say if I tried. Extremely happy with our stay. Family is already asking when we could go back, but only if we stay at this location.

Beautiful quiet beach and roomy, comfortable house.
The house was exactly as advertised and the beach was lovely. The owner left excellent information on the area, including restaurants and shops and surfing beaches. The caretaker, Agapito, was wonderful and met us at the house late-night to check us in and show us around. We had everything we needed including beach towels, chairs, and beach toys.
The fence between the house and the beach was damaged and a temporary plywood structure was in its place but the owner informed us of this in advance and deducted 10% from the rent for the inconvenience. I very much appreciated their forthrightness and honesty in this matter.

I was never told until I arrived to the house that the beach was blocked from the front of the house
I asked the owner for some kind of compensation for the inconvenience of having a barricade wall in the front of the house which did not let us enjoy the beach and they never responded. We should had been told even if it just happened and given the option to get out of contract since the condition of the listing on HomeAway was not the same as we encountered in person

We appreciate the feedback and apologize for the inconvenience while we repaired the gate to provide direct access to the beach safely from the property.
We recently experienced some storm surge damage to our beach fence. We have installed a temporary fence while we wait for permits for the permanent fix. Please note that the home was not impacted in anyway. The views are still spectacular. Direct access to the beach is still available, but it is not aesthetically as pleasing as we would like.
This house is amazing. Great views. Very comfortable and has everything you need for a beach vacation. There are lots of beach towels, chairs, an umbrella, boogie boards and SUP boards. Crash Boat beach is only 20 minutes away. Nathan, the host was very accommodating and responsive to any questions we had before we arrived. Once we were there we had no reasons to contact the host. We had a great stay. We wish it was longer.

Not a “10” property but the view certainly is!
The view each morning brought smiles and much joy! If you want to do day activities, many are back toward San Juan and driving gets tiresome. Plan ahead.
We came for the July 4th week with 2 families 4 adults and 5 kids. Everyone had plenty of room and the location was perfect. The house has incredible views and everything you would need for families on the beach. There are a few restaurants nearby and everyone we met was very friendly. The house was a bit dated and could use a slight remodel but it worked well for our group. I did notice an extra $400 fee labeled "Owner fees" after I booked which I've never seen before? I asked the owner what it was and never received an answer? I would highly recommend this home especially for the price. Can't beat the view!
Wonderful beach which we all enjoyed very much. There were plenty of beach towels, beach chairs and great paddle boards. We just needed more indoor table seating and some comfortable outdoor seating on the fabulous decks overlooking the water.
Wonderful vacation on the beach and close to beach towns!
This beach house had everything we needed - fully stocked kitchen, plenty of towels, comfortable beds, patio furniture, beach chairs, cooler, beach towels, umbrellas, beach toys, paddle boards, etc. etc.!!! The rooftop overlooking the beach was the best! We enjoyed the beach right at the house, but also ventured out to some fun beach towns around 30 mins away - Rincon and Isabela. We also drove about an hour to La Parguera and rented a boat, toured the beautiful cays/islands, beaches, and even snorkeled a bit. Such a beautiful island with so much to explore! Thanks to our wonderful hosts who gave us tons of great suggestions!!! Highly recommend this part of Puerto Rico, away from the hustle and bustle of San Juan (although definitely need to spend a day in Old San Juan)! Best restaurant nearby was Mahi Mahi! Thanks again for sharing your beautiful home!!!
I cannot over-emphasize enough how amazing this property is. Right on the beach! The view from the porch is stunning. If Only I could wake up every morning and drink my coffee from the porch and watch the birds dive into the ocean!! The property was clean, the property owner was very informative, and the property had everything we needed! We hope to be back!!
Best family beach trip ever! The sea was perfect, (even for the 4 y.o. who learned to snorkle, btw) sandy, relatively calm and clear waters, NO seaweed.
We paddleboarded with turtles, then saw one come ashore to lay eggs! AMAZING! We saw dolphins too, and could see fish in the surf. Some guys were training their horses to be comfortable on the beach and in the water....don't see that everywhere. Oh, and beautiful sea glass washes up every day!
The house layout is perfect for us...6 adults and 3 kids. It is very well stocked with kitchen appliances, towels, linens, beach toys, even umbrellas and paddleboards. The porches were just beautiful, of course the view at sunset was jaw dropping. I highly recommend this place!
Just to note, the beach retainer wall in front of the house was damaged by the January earthquake (I think) and with Covid-19 restrictions, has not yet been repaired. It was no big deal, we were allowed to use the neighbors beach access.
We didn't want to leave!
The hospitality of the host the beautiful beach the incredible well equipped home was amazing. Would go back in a second. Plenty of space for our mission group, a wall deserved treat after all the hard work.
Casa de playa , cómoda, lugar tranquilo, buena vista, limpia, tiene de todo. Comunicación excelente. La pasamos muy bien. Recomiendo 100%

It was okay.
When we checked in there were several cockroaches in the home. I informed the vrbo contact and was told they'd get back to me regarding an exterminator. No word for over a day until I reached out again and they informed me they had someone scheduled to come out. We were also told we'd get another set of keys and that someone would come unclog a bathroom drain and neither happened.
Overall it was a lovely house and everyone enjoyed themselves but the communication was lacking follow through.

About the host
Hosted by Nathan & Melisa
Melisa and Nathan live in Minnesota with two toddler boys. Melisa grew up in the neighboring town of Aguadilla and has family members in the Espinar neighborhood.
Why they chose this property
We purchased a home in Barrio Espinar after looking to purchase a beachfront property on the west side of the island for over 10 years. We chose Aguada because it is not overly Americanized like the neighboring town of Rincon. It has an authentic Puerto Rican atmosphere - complete with the morning crowing of roosters, coquis and a local panaderia (bakery). It is where the locals go to visit the beach, eat at a seaside restaurant and to escape the city.
What makes this property unique
The home is extremely livable and directly on the beach. We have small children and are able to relax on the beach. The yard is enclosed with a fence and has a gate to access the beach.
