Unfortunately this stay didn’t turn out as plannned. We arrived at the house at the end of a long work day and were ready for a hot shower. The place was as expected, except for the bathroom. The tub was FULL of what appeared to be dog hair, as was the under side of the toilet. Quite unsettling, to say the least. We were desperate for a hot shower before grabbing a meal, so I attempted to clean out the tub. To add to our disappointment, the drain in the tub did not work, and it was impossible to stay. We notified the owner, who apologized, and agreed to address to drain issues (and cleanliness issue) that night. He sent us a video of the drain working (and his bare feet in the bathroom.) We then had to find a hotel that was pet friendly, (twice the cost of the vrbo room) and managed a shower and delivery for dinner. Not a good night.
We decided we were not interested in going back to the house, and let the owner know the following day. NOW the really disappointing part ... because I was unaware of the cancellation policy, the owner determined he should keep over half of our payment because I didn’t free up the rooms online, although I had texted him to tell him we weren’t returning. Not to mention his calendar was wide open. It was an expensive lesson ($200)
I will add, we have had great success with booking places on vrbo, and will continue to use the sight. Sadly in this case, it was not a good experience.
