We had a nice stay at this cabin. The kitchen is small but we managed to cook an entire Thanksgiving dinner in it. The kitchen was well stocked in some areas and lacking in others. The creek area was beautiful and we enjoyed going down there. The best part was the indoor wood burning fireplace. It was very cold while we were there and we enjoyed making fires. While the downstairs queen was a little firm I thought it was comfortable. Much better than most mattresses at other rentals we've stayed at. The proximity to West Jefferson and Boone was nice but you can hear 221 from the house. I would definitely recommend this rental to others!

Seek refuge at The Refuge!
I could not have been happier with my stay at The Refuge. To begin, Carolina Cabin Rentals was easy to work with. All correspondences were professional and kind. The Refuge is truly that as the cabin is nestled into a secluded wooded area with easy parking. The cabin is warm and cozy. The owners even have the cabin decorated for the holidays! Everything about the cabin is spot on - clean and tidy decor, comfy beds and couches, fully stocked kitchen (they even have a coffee grinder!), grill that made the perfect steaks, relaxing hot tub on the back porch - I could go on and on! My favorite part of the property is the creek side fire pit. You cannot go wrong with staying at The Refuge. I look forward to scheduling another stay!
Very private cabin within driving distance of Boone or West Jefferson
This was a nice little cabin that looked to be well maintained. It was very private and the proximity to Boone and West Jefferson was nice. There are a few drawbacks to the house. The queen mattresses were very firm. Firm to the point where my wife and I decided to sleep in the individual twin beds in the guest room after the first night. If you do not like a firm mattress, this is not the place for you. Also the master bath has no door between it and the bedroom. A little separation there would be nice.

The Refuge is exactly as advertised and very conveniently located. It’s private, even feels a bit secluded. The creek side space is tranquil and romantic. We enjoyed our stay.
The cabin worked well for our family. It’s location was quick and easy to get to from the main highway. The place was as advertised. Our kids enjoyed exploring the creek below and the hot tub was enjoyed by all. One critique is the mattress in the upstairs bedroom was slightly uncomfortable. Overall would recommend.
My fiancé and the couple we traveled with fully enjoyed the use of the hot tub and fire pit. The seller had excellent and timely communication. Close enough to all the destinations we planned to see and the property felt remote enough to truly enjoy a mountain cabin getaway.
We stayed at the refuge cabin in the mountains in fleetwood, NC. The property was great and had a hot tub, grill, indoor fireplace. Great cabin with comforts of home. Great lighted walkway down to the creek with an outdoor fire pit. We loved it!

Perfectly cozy cabin
The location of this cabin is perfect. Private and serene. We loved the fire pit, playing in the snow, and walking all the trails. Our only complaint would be the walls are very thin... Whoever sleeps in the queen guest room will hear every little noise that comes from upstairs. They should consider putting carpet in the upstairs room to help muffle the noise. Other than that we loved it and would definitely stay here again!

The Refuge was the Perfect Getaway
This lovely and cozy log cabin is located adjacent to a wooded area that lines up to a creek bed and firepit. The house was super clean and fully stocked and the perfect getaway for my husband, myself, my mother-in-law and teenage daugther. We enjoyed sitting out at night on the deck, grilling out for dinner and my husband and daugther loved the hot tub after a polar plunge in the creek bed. We loved how easy it was to get to from the Cary area versus Boone and Banner Elk that has much more congestion. We would definitely stay there again. Great location to everything.
The cabin was great for a nice weekend away. It was spotless when we arrived. It is well decorated and comfortable. The location is great as it was 20 min to Boone, Blowing Rock, and West Jefferson.
My husband and I enjoyed the seclusion of this cabin and the peaceful sound of the creek. Location was great and close to many towns that we visited while there. Cabin was vacation ready when we got there and very clean. The property with its very own creek and outdoor area had to be our favorite. We had a great time and already have recommended this cabin to our friends. Thank you!
Nice, secluded little cabin as pictured. We enjoyed our week seeing fall foliage and sitting by the stream. Queen Beds are extra firm and we’re not comfortable. They could use a washer/ dryer upgrade for anyone staying more than a few days.

Lovely cabin
My 4 star rating is because of the cleaners and not the cabin. I loved the cabin. Loved the location and the quietness. Only thing I didn't like is that the cleaners forgot the garage from the previous renter and didn't leave tissue in the downstairs bathroom. I will definitely be renting this cabin again in the future.

Lovely Cabin!!!
We enjoyed The Refuge so much!! The creek down below the cabin and the fire pit area is truly stunning. The path lights up at night and it's a very romantic and peaceful atmosphere. We were able to relax and get away from the stresses of the world. The hot tub was amazing and the fireplace inside the home made it very cozy at night. The cabin was very clean when we arrived. The cabin was close enough to town for groceries and far enough away to unplug. 5 star rating and we will be back!!
We had a great week at this cabin! It was clean and well appointed! The creek area with firepit was a hit with our two grandsons! They enjoyed exploring the creek and woods then roasting marshmallows in the fire pit! Secluded but very short drive to Boone, West Jefferson,Blowing Rock and the Blue Ridge Parkway! We enjoyed the hot tub and front porch in the evenings. Internet and satellite tv worked well as did all the appliances. The response time back from manager was prompt and very helpful! We had no issues and highly recommend this beautiful cabin!
Really clean and enjoyable. Perfect place to take some well deserved relaxing time. A bit smaller than displayed on the pictures though and would need some more outdoor dining space.
Great private mountain escape but close to Boone and Blowing Rock
Cozy cabin with private walk down path with firepit and picnic area with wood - 3 bedrooms with hot tub on back deck and a couple chairs and rocking bench on front porch.
Neat and clean and met our needs - hot tub cover needs to be replaced since it is split down the middle and dirt/debris and styrofoam from the cover keep getting into hot tub.
Staff were all helpful and accommodating to meet all of our needs.

Great Remote Location
My family spent a week at the refuge and it was one of the best vacations we have had. The cabin was great. If you want a peaceful and relaxing time, this is the cabin. All you hear are the birds and the water from the creek below. We have daughters ages 7 and 10, they loved exploring and the campfire by the creek. The cabin had a well stocked kitchen and spacious bedrooms. It is about 20 minutes from Boone. They are just finishing construction off the highway in which they added u-turns making the drive so much quicker to town. We will definitely book "The Refuge" again in the future.

Great Outdoor Space
Spent 3 nights at the Refuge and really enjoyed it. The outdoor space down by the stream was exactly what I was looking for when I wanted to spend some time with a few close friends. I even setup my hammock and spent the night by the fire pit. Cabin and amenities were as described and check in and check out went exactly as planned. One downside was that the trash bins were full before I got there so there was little to no available space for our groups trash. We managed but would have been good if those were empty. Linens were in the dryer and didn't find that out until the second day but again we made due. Overall a great experience and would gladly stay here again.

Jacuzzi temp only got up to 88 degrees and cover was ripped and heavy (water logged). Couldn't get any channels in bedrooms after a certain time? Firepit and stream were very nice!

Very upset!
The reason we rented the refuge was because of the hot tub; which did not work!!!! After skiing and snowboarding all day we went to use it and the jets would not work and then the water was cold. The picture of the hot tub looked much larger then pictured. The washer/dryer was extremely tiny you could fit maybe 2-3 towels and could only wash or dry but not both. The amount of towels given was hardly any to begin with. Also, the comforter had stains all over it and didn't look like it had been washed we had to sleep with a sheet because there were no additional blankets. No additional paper towels and very minimal dish towels. For the price we paid we could have saved money going to a hotel which in the future we will probably end up doing. We called twice and left a voicemail and still have not heard back. I'm extremely disappointed.

Hi Ashley,
We were disheartened to hear that your expectations were not met during your recent stay at The Refuge. We invest heavily in our Quality Control Departments, in our on going effort to ensure our guest have the finest in vacation rental experiences. We host over 11,000 arrivals and departures annually and your experiences are in the extreme minority, but they are a priority with us. In order to identify a possible system or communication breakdown we researched our phone calls for the dates of your stay, unfortunately according to our logs we received no calls from the number listed for your arrival number ending 2501. Is it possible another number was used? When you made the booking an email was sent to the address on file explaining the number of towels and wash cloths per person. The washer and dryer is a stack unit and is rated for the occupancy of that home which is 6. We have asked maintenance to check the temps and overall condition of the washer and dryer. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. As stated earlier we are very disappointed that your expectations were not met. Our guest satisfaction is paramount with us and when we are aware that a guest needs are not being met we make every effort to correct that as soon as possible. Thank you for your input and we hope to service your needs again in the future.
