I so enjoyed my recent stay at Gecko Cottage! It’s a lovely little spot with all needed conveniences, and an easy walk to downtown Gulfport. Access was super simple, too.
Really enjoyed our stay. It’s a great location in nice little town. Our tv in the living didn’t work after the first day but it wasn’t a problem as we had service in the bedroom and we were gone a lot. We would definitely stay there again.
House was perfect for myself, husband and 13 year old! Close to great restaurants and downtown Gulfport! House was very clean. My son loved the use of the bicycles! Would definitely stay again
Property location was amazing and really enjoyed the bikes….kitchen a little sparse and bathroom tiny We adapted and enjoyed our stay!!! Thanks Gulfport love the town and the vibe !!!! We will be back next year as we have family around the corner!!!
This is a very clean and cozy cottage, I didn’t give it 5 overall because when we went to use the grill our last night we found it dirty and that it used briquettes instead of propane…. Our fault for not checking earlier… the cleanliness of the grill is on the person that didn’t clean up after themselves, but a description of the grill would have made us aware to buy some briquettes…
Our learning experience, next time we’ll check when we get there.
I recommend this place for staying on the fact of what it offers in overall cleanliness but also the communication… check in was clear and no problems, we had an issue with the WiFi the first night… as it was late, I emailed thinking it would be morning before it was resolved; no, it was fixed and working within the hour… and then there was the privacy of the yard area… our small dogs were able to enjoy the freedom of being outside….
We hope to stay next year as well….
This cottage is perfect for a couple that wants to be able to Enjoy all the fun in the Historic Waterfront area on foot. The Cottage is well prepared for an enjoyable stay. We would defiantly come back
Very nice comfortable and clean cottage. Private residence in a great location. Very close to the downtown restaurants, stores, beach and activities. Private patio and washer, dryer easily accessible. The only negative was the Wi-Fi was spotty.
The house was small as we knew in advance but it was a perfect oasis for us and our small dogs. The front and back yards are both fenced so we could sit outside without worrying about the dogs. The location is across from the park so walking our dogs there was a daily ritual.
Super convenient location. Loved the front and back patios. Perfect with our dog. Bikes were real nice! Expand the bathroom a bit and it would be perfect!

Three days in Gulfport
The property was conveniently located near the home of a friend on Beach Boulevard South. The AC functioned perfectly as well as the ceiling. On the negative side the bathroom was substandard. The shower with the cracked tile and missing bar rack was ok. But the sink with no stopper and about the size of a bento box was a pisser! The toilet wedged into a corner required me to use it side-saddle with plastic folding doors wide open to the kitchen so my knees would not be squeezed into the wall. There were no ice trays and the ice box apparently had no capability for making ice even as the outside temperatures soared into the nineties. The futon which I avoided in the living apparently had a good bit of sand scattered about it. For the backpacker or the hostel dweller this establishment might qualify as superior, but it is not a property that I could recommend to any of the 120 of my holiday card recipients.
We enjoyed our brief 3 night stay in this quaint cottage conveniently located. The bed is comfortable and the fenced patio is secure and affords guests some privacy from other closely situated neighboring homes. We would have liked to have a light source in the patio, but suspect its absence helped keep flying insects away. Overall the property was sufficient for our needs, but it is small and probably not suited for a family, I would describe it as an efficiency unit, and in our case that was all we really needed. The neighborhood is quiet and safe and we walked downtown with ease in just minutes. Gulfport is a funky little town and we enjoyed the local restaurants, cafes, shops & pubs.
Plenty of positives about this property. It was very clean and Bob communicates very well and check in was easy. The kitchen was nice and well stocked. The king bed in the bedroom is very comfortable and the bedroom provides plenty of space. The fenced patio with very nice table, chairs and umbrella is a real plus. Wound like to give 5 stars but the bathroom is terribly small. Shower is fine but sink is small and you cannot sit on commode and fully close door.
I rented the property for my daughter that was visiting us for the Holidays with her dogs. We loved the house with all that we needed available and very cblean. The property has 2 outside areas enclosed by a private fence that our puppies safely enjoyed (they are both under 10 pounds but no under the fence spaces or wholes for them to escape). Very quiet street with a green area or park accross the street. Property is within a walking or bike distance from Gulfort downtown area. . 4 nice bikes are available to be used.
Thanks for allowing us to rent your nice property, my daughter said will love to stay there again when she returns.
Thanks again,
Amaya
First time traveling with a Sr dog and this was exactly what i needed. Right size and easy access, and bonus dog park a few blocks away. Entry lock was ideal, I’mgoing to invest in one for home.
We enjoyed our extended stay at the cottage. It was very clean and equipped with everything we needed. The washer/dryer and bicycles were a nice plus. It was great to be within walking distance to downtown Gulfport and the beach. Robert, the owner, was helpful and available for questions. Due to the coronavirus closings we decided to leave a few days early. Robert refunded us the daily rate for those dates which we really appreciated.
Clean, comfortable place to stay. Had everything we needed. Very comfortable bed. The bathroom is very small and might be awkward for a larger person not able to close door completely but it was ok for us.
Walkable to the intercostal waterway and restaurants and shops. 15 minute drive to St.Pete Beach.
We spent two fantastic weeks in the Gecko house cottage. As others have said the bathroom is small but certainly adequate. We have two small dogs and the location right across the road from a lovely park was perfect. The cottage has a fenced in patio which we and the dogs loved. Robert.is very helpful. He’s not intrusive but available when you need him. He starts you off with plenty of essentials and even coffee and a bottle of wine. It’s a great place to stay. Very neat and clean and walking distance to Gulfport (about 1/4 mile) which has just become our favorite town in Florida.

Why they chose this property
This property was originally a carriage house for the main house, which was built in 1926. The property is newly renovated, with two enclosed paver patios for privacy. Plenty of parking and a short walk to downtown Gulfport.
The house is located in Gulfport. Gulfport is a very quaint, small, friendly beach community very close to downtown St Petersburg and St Pete beach. Itis full of parks, piers, culture, and delicious dining. The colorful town is buzzing with activity from Fresh Markets every Tuesday showcasing fresh produce, breads, seafood, and condiments to Art Walks the first Friday and third Saturday of every month featuring musicians, artists, and food vendors.
Gulfport celebrates several annual festivals including Get Rescued supporting pet rescues in February, SpringFest highlighting local artists in March, a 4th of July parade, and a Labor Day street fair called Gecko Fest.
Visitors can mosey through the Clam Bayou Nature Preserve, take in the view from Williams Pier, or explore the historic Waterfront District’s varied shops and restaurants. Reviewers rave about Isabelle’s, O’Maddy’s, Tangelo’s and Neptune Grill to name a few.
Locals enjoy recreation at Skyway Fishing Pier and Egmont Key State Parks, let loose at the local Casino, and celebrate the arts in galleries along Beach Blvd. Be sure to visit the All Veterans Memorial Park, which pays tribute to veterans from each branch of the military.
