No step, back door ramp entry into HIBERNATION HIDEAWAY that is a wonderful, relaxing log cabin that has had a makeover & is located in a peaceful wooded setting & has so much privacy all around. If rest & relaxation are as important as the convenience of being close to Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge, then take a closer look at this cabin! Conveniently located between Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg, just 3 miles off the Parkway, the main road that runs between the 2 towns. It has a gated wrap-around porch & a roomy yard for your pets & kids' safety.

The peaceful setting with plenty of trees for comfortable shade makes this the ideal location to easily access all the area events, restaurants, shopping & fun things to do. You will enjoy just a short 10-minute drive to either town, all on the main paved roads. Or, if just hibernating is what you like to do while vacationing, you will certainly enjoy the peacefulness & privacy of Hibernation Hideaway.

This wonderful log cabin is nestled in the mountains & located midway between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, and convenient to all the attractions of the Smoky Mountains area. All roads going there are good main roads.

The large gated wrap-around porch has a roof cover so you can enjoy the large wooden porch swing & rocking chairs & 4-person hot tub in any kind of weather. The private yard has a hammock, firepit, charcoal grill, large picnic table & kids' tree swing with open land all around. There are no cabins on either side of the Hibernation Hideaway for all the privacy you are looking for in a mountain cabin stay.

The wide-open spaces around the cabin are wonderful for privacy & a fun place to play games or just relax in the oversized hammock. The fire pit is for marshmallow toasting & outdoor hot dog grilling, or just relaxing. There are chairs & 2 wooden log benches surrounding the firepit.

Enjoy the cozy living room that has a stone fireplace with remote-operated logs that can be used year-round for heat or just for a romantic ambiance. There is a 50" TV, a DVD player & movie library, ceiling fan, comfortable couch, recliner & rocking chair.

The kitchen is well-equipped with all updated appliances, a range, a dishwasher, a microwave & refrigerator w/ icemaker. There is also a blender, toaster, slow-cooker, George Foreman grill, Keurig & regular coffee maker. An abundance of dishes & cookware makes it easy for eat-in-the-cabin meals for 6 people with a dining table with 4 chairs & 2 log-type bar stools at the kitchen bar.

The laundry closet with a full-size washer and dryer & is located on the main level.

The two bedrooms are located on different levels for privacy. The main-level bedroom has a queen memory foam bed, a large closet & a 32" TV, a DVD player, a ceiling fan & large closet. The main-level bath has a tub/shower.

The upstairs bedroom has a king memory foam bed & also a comfortable wooden trundle bed that will sleep 2 people separately, a jetted tub, a half bath with a closet, a 32" TV & ceiling fan.

There are no cabins on either side of the Hibernation Hideaway, just vacant land that offers privacy & can be enjoyed by pets & kids. A cabin across the road can be seen, so you will not feel isolated, but it does not affect the privacy of Hibernation Hideaway. The deck on the other cabin is on the backside of that cabin, so you will only see someone there when they are going to or from their vehicle.

The cabin was very cozy. We loved the outdoor space for our dogs and 2 year old daughter. The hot tub was very nice and relaxing in the cool evenings. We love the location as well and how close it was to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. The host, Geri, was wonderful and very communicative with us on our stay and answering any questions we had. We will absolutely be back.

The cabin was cosy; living area not as big as it appears in the photos. Loved that I could bring my pet. Front porch is awesome, except for the gap by the hot tub where pets can escape. The living area was not as clean as I’d expected. Articles of past renters clothing were found in and under the couch. Floor needed sweeping but a broom was not provided. The water pressure was our biggest problem; you got pressure at first, but it dropped to a trickle very quickly. It was very hard to take a shower or wash dishes. Yes, I contacted the host, who responded quickly, but because we had some water coming out it didn’t seem like a quick fix. Doing laundry, taking showers and washing dishes had to be staggered out to let the tank fill up again; and sometimes that didn’t seem to work. If the water pressure were corrected and it was cleaned better it could be a nice place to stay.

Response from VrboOwner on 6 Apr 2026
First of all, Judith, you did not contact me; I am the one who contacted you the morning after you checked in, to see if everything was ok at the cabin & in the conversation, you mentioned low water pressure. I told you that I had another guest, years ago, who said the same thing & I sent a well company to check it. He told me there was nothing wrong with the well or the pressure; it was because the guests were using the dishwasher, washing machine & showers all at the same time & it was hard for the pump to keep up. He said to tell them not to use everything at the same time. I did & that fixed their issue. I told you the same thing & told you if you experienced low pressure anytime during your stay to let me know. I HEARD NOTHING FROM YOU, ONLY AFTER YOU CHECKED OUT, to say you were disappointed with the water pressure. WHAT? Only after you checked out & not while you were there when I told you to let me know????? That sounds like a hint for a refund to me!! Does that have anything to do with your payments always being overdue, once overdue by 20 days? Sorry, I mentioned that, but I just don’t like people making up untrue stories & posting them in a review about my beautiful cabin that I am so proud of & do everything I can do to make it the best it can be for my guests!! I was actually in town on the morning of your checkout, and I immediately went to the cabin. I sent you multiple videos showing that the water pressure was very strong & you had just left. I had 3 nights open after your check-out &before my next guest arrived, so I decided to stay in the cabin & keep an eye on the water pressure…. Guess what, Judith? I ALWAYS HAD GOOD WATER PRESSURE, NO DROP IN THE PRESSURE WHATSOEVER. Now, isn’t that the strangest thing!! …. It wasn’t just an occasional shower or dishwashing for me; I laundered at least three dozen blankets & quilts from my other cabins during those 3 days I was there, IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOU LEFT. Like most of my guests, I'm smart enough not to run the dishwasher, washing machine & showers all at the same time. FOR JUST 2 PEOPLE, you said…. “Doing laundry, taking showers and washing dishes had to be staggered out to let the tank fill up again.” Do you know how absurd that sounds, Judith? And, NO, you did not have to wait for a tank to refill…. because there is NO tank to refill. LOL Now for the cleanliness of the cabin…. I stayed there 3 nights, remember? While I was there, I totally rearranged all the furniture throughout the cabin…Guess what, Judith? There were NO “articles of past renters clothing in & under the couch” or anywhere in the cabin. What did you do with them? Did you take those people’s clothing with you when you left? You should have left them so we could have sent them back to the rightful owners. Gotcha.LOL When moving furniture, I thought I would need to sweep the floors as I moved the furniture, but the ONE true thing that Judith said in her review was that there was no broom…. she was correct, it was missing. I actually noticed how clean the floors were, even under the furniture & thought what a great job the housekeepers were doing. So, no, I don’t buy any of your story, Judith, I know better, I saw for myself, just like the so-called low water pressure that did not exist! Now, for your escape artist dog, there is a railing around the entire wrap-around deck, it there is a place that is large enough for your smaller dog to escape, I believe that would be on you as the owner of the dog, don’t you think? BTW, the pictures were made with my camera, not any kind of special lens that would make the rooms look bigger, what you see in the pictures is what you get…. what a ridiculous thing for you to say, Judith.

About the host

Hosted by Geri

Host profile image
I live in Nashville TN and bought my first property called the Chocolate Moose in the Great Smoky Mountains in 2007. My Daddy would take the whole family there every year for a family vacation from the time when I was just a little kid. Mama would pack a picnic lunch & when we arrived at the Smoky Mountains, we would find a picnic area to eat. I thought that was the best thing ever!!

Over many years, I still have the same love for the Smoky Mountains just like I did when I was young. I had a dream way back then about the wonderful cabins that I saw setting way high up in the mountains & wondered how they looked inside & thought how much fun it would be to live in one.

I loved it all so much from the very beginning & kept that little kid's dream alive over the years of someday having in a mountain cabin & I feel so lucky that I now do. See all my cabins below:

Why they chose this property

My first attraction to this cabin was the wide-open vacant land all around this cabin & the privacy that it offered, yet it was so close to all the restaurants & fun activities in the area.

It was such a nice surprise to see an actual really flat driveway in the mountains & one that would accommodate several vehicles.

It is a true log cabin that needed some upgrading and re-decorating, but that is just what I was looking for as that is what I really like to do. So, after purchasing it, I set in to make it a very special warm, and cozy place to vacation. I enjoyed every minute of decorating & upgrading it.

The location is great, just 3 miles off the main road that runs between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg & all are main paved roads. The distance between Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg is only 5 miles & so it makes it possible to be in either city in just a few minutes.

My first cabin called the Chocolate Moose is in the same area, Sky Harbor, about a mile from Hibernation Hideaway., I think it is an ideal location as it is so close to everything, yet so very private.

What makes this property unique

The large front covered wrap-around porch has rocking chairs & a porch swing. I enjoy taking afternoon naps in that big over-sized swing when I am there & it is one of my favorite places to be because I can enjoy nature even when it is raining.

Around the backside of the covered wrap-around porch is a relaxing 4-person hot tub that is totally private. A gas grill. is also on the covered porch.

Out in the large flat yard is a big hammock that hangs between 2 shade trees, a kid's round swing & a charcoal grill. There are games to play outside, including an old-fashioned family traditional croquet set.

I really love to be able to drive right up to the cabin on the flat driveway as so many mountain cabins have such steep driveways.

This cozy log cabin is located right between Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg, just minutes from either town. It is only 3 miles off of the main road that runs between the 2 towns.
