Sunset View, our genuine log cabin, is nestled in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, just off the 441 spur. The semi-secluded cabin sits almost at the top of a mountain, giving a sensational view and a simply heavenly feel. Yet within 10-15 minutes, you can be at any of the major attractions of the Smokies.

The log cabin was built by the renown photographer of the Smoky Mountains, James Thurston. Its suite-like floor plan with large rooms containing open beamed cathedral ceilings, along with a warm, cozy décor make it the perfect cabin for a family or two couples. Each bedroom has its own attached bath.
You don't have to leave behind your four legged family members either. Sunset View is Pet Friendly! (Sorry, dogs only.) A large Pet Porter is stored in the lower level closet to be used when the family wants to go out for the evening, yet be sure 4-legged family members will be safe, as well as the cabin. $75 pet fee is based on a maximum of 2 dogs. Contact owner for consideration of 3 dogs.

Sunset View is a cabin you'll want to return to again and again for a special relaxation and peacefulness that you can only experience from a porch swing, while watching the sun melt over the mountaintops.

** Major Holiday stays require a minimum of 4 nights, some only 3 nights (Memorial Day, President's Day, Labor Day, etc.) ** Wednesday before Thanksgiving must be booked with Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Eve must be booked with Christmas Day.
** Extra Adult Fee - There is a $20 (per person, per night) fee for each adult over the number 6. **

The cabin was awesome my wife myself and my son really enjoyed it especially the hot tub the big porch with a beautiful view and the cabin was so comfy I would definitely recommend staying here if you want a nice relaxing place to stay on your getaway! Thank you to the Curnick family for renting there place out to us!

Great location, beautiful sunsets

Nice cabin, love the layout and it being pet friendly was a bonus! Although our dog didn't enjoy being away from home as we had hoped, we had a great stay! We saw mama bear and her 5 cubs right in front of the cabin!

Really enjoyed our stay at Sunset View. This cabin had everything we needed for ourselves and our fur baby to be comfortable. The beds were very cozy too! I got some ofmy best sleep in many months during my stay. The location of the cabin can’t be beat either. It is off the main drag, but far enough to feel like you are getting away from everything. They have an extensive collection of VHS and DVD’s. This was fun for myself and my now adult son as he grew up before streaming service was a thing. We were able to watch a couple of our favorite movies on VHS just like we did when he was little! Brought back some nice memories. Also worth mentioning was the Sunset view. The cabin is very appropriately named. It was nothing short of remarkable!

Wonderful cabin with great views

We absolutely loved Sunset View. The cabin was a true log cabin which was exactly what we wanted. The views of Pigeon Forge at night were stunning. I loved the decor in the cabin, as well as the vaulted ceilings and the fire place. We visit Pigeon Forge about 6 times per year, and this was one of our favorite cabins because of the location. You are right between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.

Great weekend outside Gatlingburg/Pigeon Forge

Cabin was really great. Online photos are outdated and don't show off how nice it is. We had 6 people but you easily could have slept 8. Porches and view great. Location between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge was great. The only drawback but the owner's seem to have a dog and did not clean up enough after the dog. It wasnt a big issue, but there was dog hair in places.

Cabin vacation

The cabin was great, there should have been dish cloths, & a little upgrade wouldn't hurt. The beds were fairly comfortable & we couldn't get the tv in the living room to work. Overall, we would go back. Next time we will take our own dishcloths & laundry detergent.

Great View as promised but....

The cabin is quite lovely! The view was breathtaking just as promised! The cabin was clean and well stocked with kitchen necessities. The owners are quick to respond! Renters will hear road noise if you sit on the deck. It’s not bad but could change depending on the time of year you visit (based on tree cover and peak travel seasons). The beds in the cabin MUST be addressed! This is mentioned in other reviews. One is completely worn out and the other is extremely hard. They need to be replaced bottom line!

Use caution in the winter

We read a lot of reviews about the dangerous road leading to the cabin and weren’t really worried about it, as we have a truck. The night we came, a winter storm hit. We were lucky enough to make it to the cabin safely but saw many vehicles stuck, and even witnessed one hit a tree coming down. I would be careful about booking in the winter. The cabin was pretty and had a beautiful view. The only complaint we have is that the bed sheets did not seem to be clean. We got into bed the first night and felt something grainy, lifted the covers and saw what appeared to be specs of dirt and hair. The owners were very helpful and gave very clear directions on how to get to the cabin. Our favorite part was the hot tub and the wonderful view. Overall, it was a pretty good stay.

Cute 2-bedroom cabin, beautifully decorated. The view was just what we wanted - just beautiful. Enjoyed the swing on the deck. Hot tub fits 4 but probably better for just 2.

The view was amazing! The cabin was well stocked with everything we needed. We loved the hot tub and the card table downstairs. Had to give 3 stars for cleanliness beacuse the shower liner upstairs smelled so strong of urine and the sheets had a bad(dirty) smell.

Spicy of nature

We had a wonderful time, enjoyed the mountains and got to see a bit of nature’s bears. Could have had a bit more yard from the back door and hot tub. A little too close for bears walking up on you. Other than that we had a really nice time.

You get your money's worth

The one complaint I have, is that the property could use some 'updates'. That being said, for the price you pay, you can't ask for a better spot. Very dog friendly, and plenty of space to walk them. My Shepherd spent a bunch of time on the back deck looking at wildlife. It's also a decently quiet road, without a lot of traffic.

Awesome View! Exceptional Stay!

Definitely a little piece of heaven right in between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. So nice to have a little relaxation and peace amongst the busier city areas. Gorgeous view! Made breakfast every morning and ate it out on the porch. Very spacious and ckean. We absolutely loved it!

Perfect Location with Breathtaking Views

We had a wonderful time during our stay. The views from both porches are absolutely breathtaking. The cabin was clean and cozy. The fireplace was the perfect touch to a fun family night in. The location is close to both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge along with Smoky Mountain National Park. I definitely recommend staying here.

Alice’s cabin was perfect. The neighborhood was great. View outstanding. A true cabin vibe up here in the mountains. Plenty of space. Loved using the fireplace. Top porch balcony was our favorite place to sit. Zero complaints.

Last trip as family of 3

We had a great time at Sunset View. It was in a great location in between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Close enough to everything, but far enough away to get the mountain/cabin life. This location was perfect for what we were needing for our little family trip. Look forward to staying here again.

Best Fall Trip

This cabin was absolutely perfect for my little family. Everything we thought to bring was pretty much here already. And it has the best view off the back deck, my kids (3 and 4) loved to sit on the swing. Would recommend to anyone. Plenty of room and laid back stay.

Charles and Alice Curnick live in Louisville, Ky. Charles is a retired maintenance man from Jefferson County Public Schools and Alice is a retired elementary teacher. Both love the great outdoors. They live on a mini-farm with 3 horses, 3 labs (one yellow, one chocolate, and one black), 4 cats, and 'too numerous to count' goldfish in their backyard pond.

Why they chose this property

We visited good friends, who are now our neighbors, for a weekend visit back in February 2005. We fell in love with the mountaintop and the fabulous view from it. One truly feels closer to heaven in the mountains!

What makes this property unique

We have made our cabin more than just logs and furniture. Everyone who stays tells us how warm and cozy it is. It is 'home away from home'. A very short drive from the Smoky Mountain Parkway, right in the middle between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. We are just 10 minutes from Dixie Stampede and Dollywood. For the nature lovers, the location of the cabin allows quiet morning and evening walks up a picturesque mountain road. Only a 30-40 minute drive to Cade's Cove. 20 minutes to Five Oaks Mall and many shows in Pigeon Forge.
