Wonderful condo but very noisy complex
The condo and host were great. This condo is huge and has everything you could wish for, incredible view from the balcony, really comfy bed, having two bathrooms is a bonus, the air conditioning works well and their were lots of lovely little touches like a beach bag and boogie boards, we also loved the coffee machine and giant fridge freezer. The parking, reception, gym, pool and location are also fantastic. Our main issue was the noise, it felt a bit like we were staying in a building site. My heart sunk when we arrived on Thursday and I noticed the condo directly above us was being renovated. The workmen were drilling, sawing and banging on our ceiling until 9pm, not ideal when you are severely jet lagged (we had travelled from England). I had to find the security guard to get them to stop. This is when I discovered the hours for works are 8am-5pm Monday-Saturday.
These works continued from 8am the next day all the way through until 5.30pm at which point we and all our stuff were covered in tile saw dust while sat on our balcony so I again had to find the security to get them to stop.
I contacted the host who informed the GM about these works. They still took place all day Saturday but they stopped at 5pm and the security guard assured me they were finished. We did the road to Hana on Sunday which was great and stopped at Mama's Fish House on the way home, I highly recommend both. We wanted a chilled day by the pool on Monday after a lot of driving the day before but unfortunately works had now begun on a balcony overlooking the pool, I'm not sure exactly what they were doing but the machinery was so loud and this went on all day. We made a point of getting out early and coming back late on Tuesday and Wednesday to have a break from the noise, Honolua Bay for snorkeling and Black Rock Beach for chilling were some of the highlights. We did the Haleakala sun rise on Thursday which was stunning, you have to get up at 3am so we were looking forward to a nap on our return to the condo. Unfortunately they had now started ripping out the condo below us including all the floor tiles. The drilling and banging was horrendous and this continued all day. Thursday night was our last chance for a big one so we walked down to Ekolu kitchen for dinner then hit up Diamonds bar for a few more drinks which were both great.
We really wanted a lie in Friday morning, no chance, the banging and drilling started promptly at 8.05am and continued all day.
