Welcome to Sunshine Cottage

A bright, cheery welcome awaits you in this comfortably cozy cottage. Completely renovated from the studs out in 2018, Sunshine Cottage has 2 bedrooms with en suite full baths. The living room has a futon. The open plan living area leads to a large deck in back overlooking woods and a meadow graced by a wet weather stream. The large side yard is perfect for children to run and play and features an outdoor fire pit. A 2 minute walk down the quiet, dead end street brings you to the deck on the river with your own swimming hole (Average depth 4 1/2 to 5 feet, no diving!) complete with a natural cut to launch your kayak.

Sunshine Cottage is equipped with central heat/air, Wifi, Direct tv, washer/dryer, charcoal grill with your first bag of charcoal supplied, all new appliances (fridge has ice maker,) ceiling fans, wood burning fireplace with firewood supplied, 2 parking areas, LED lighting. A Britta pitcher in the fridge makes sure the coffee and tea supplied tastes just right.

Great Stay

We enjoyed our time at the cottage. The cottage has everything you need for a stay. Just be prepared to live out of suitcase because of no dresser with drawers.

Sunshine Cottage

My husband and I were in town for five days to house hunt in the area of Mentone. We stayed at the Sunshine Cottage with our boxer dog and it was just so comfortable. The cottage was immaculate and the host was very available. We will come back again.

Nice getaway

We really enjoyed the property and location. The only thing I would complain about is there were no hanger in the closets and no chest of drawers to put our clothes. Otherwise, we had a great stay!

It was a sisters reunion! The Sunshine cabin was the perfect place for us to eat, laugh, take a walk

Our stay was almost perfect. The only thing I can think of, that would have made our stay perfect, is down pillows as an alternative to fiber filled pillows. Small thing, but would have made a huge difference in our sleep.

The Yellow Cottage

We enjoyed our stay at the Cottage. It was as pictured and described. It was spotlessly clean. We loved the solitude and the quiet location. The cottage is adorable. We loved the cabin feel and the use of natural and refurbished materials! Susan, the property manger was great! We hipe to stay again this fall.

Just to get away

The cottage was very quaint and extremely quiet. We didn't see anyone on the street we stayed on the whole time. Very small town with a few restaurants the Wildflower cafe was fantastic, I had the Prime Rib with blue cheese it was the best and the service was second to none. We would go back to both the cottage and Wildflower Cafe.

Country Paradise!

This cottage is absolutely amazing! Very comfortable, peaceful and quaint! The cottage provides all essentials during your stay. We only stayed for 4 nights and wish we could have stayed longer! My kids loved the area! Mentone is an adorable little town and just a short drive to Fort Payne. Desoto State Park is a must if you’re visiting…swimming, waterfalls and lots of trails! Highly recommend this cottage!! We hope to be back soon.

Clean and cozy cottage near restaurants

Susan's cottage was spotless and cozy for our 2 night stay. and she was fast at responding to messages. We happened to be in Mentone during some really cold weather so unfortunately didn't get to enjoy the outdoor amenities afforded at this place. The cottage is just a turn away from the main drag of Mentone with many restaurants and was easy to find. I'd recommend that you screenshot your check-in info prior to your arrival, as some cell reception can be spotty there and our Vrbo app had a hard time pulling info up while I was standing at the front door! (don't be like me!) Thank you for the cozy stay, Susan!

Perfect stay at Sunshine Cottage

My husband and I traveled with our small dog north to visit two of our children. We used this cottage as a stopping point so we could gather. I had no knowledge of the area and found it was a camping area. That was perfect! It was so quiet. The cottage is not fancy and that was exactly what we needed. It was very well maintained and had a huge yard. It had everything we needed to make meals and used the local market to buy everything we needed. Added bonus is that it had a small Christmas tree. Host was great with communication. Rules were brief and straightforward. Hope to use this cute cottage for future stays!!
