Beach trip2022,We enjoy Oak Island, It a quiet place and not far from any place you want to go.
This house was a nice house. We enjoyed the pool and the beach access not far from house. The house was well stock and plenty of room for our party of 12. The one and only draw back about house is to many steps to go up and down.People with any legs or back troubles will have a problem.
Our three families go on vacation every year - six adults and five children (ages 8 to 17). Coast is Clear only had one review, but we decided to take a chance on the home and are so glad we did.
Everything has been remodeled and is well-maintained and CLEAN. The steps up to the front door are Trex. Beautiful vines wrap around the steps up to the back porches. The lounge chairs around the pool are in pristine condition, and the pool is well maintained. The hardwood floors have also been recently refinished.
There is a lot of seating inside and outside the home. The outdoor Adirondack chairs are made of high quality composite material and have built-in cup holders. The console table in the great room is full of board games and puzzles. We also love that bath and hand towels are provided!
The homes in front of and behind Coast is Clear are much shorter than Coast is Clear, so we get beautiful beach views AND sound views. The beach access is super close, and even the two less mobile adults in our group can walk it easily.
No home is perfect, and there are a few things that could easily be improved upon. The grill is a very, very small round charcoal grill (think camping grill). Grilling dinner for 11 people proved to be very difficult on it. A $300 5-burner propane grill would be an easy fix, and renters could bring/buy their own propane tank.
The third floor (main) king bedroom only came with one set of bath towels, and needs two sets. The kitchen is VERY well stocked, but is missing a few items like pasta tongs and scissors. There is no shade at the pool.
The water pressure is VERY low in the home, and gets lower as you move up the levels of the home. One time there were three showers all going at the same time, and the guest in the top (main) bath lost water completely. She had soap all over her face, and was unable to rinse her face until someone else finished their shower. We don’t know if this is an island-wide issue or an issue with Coast is Clear specifically, or if it can even be addressed.
I hope that the owners read this, and make the few small changes that would transform this into the perfect beach vacation rental. Because the home is so great, and we will want to stay here again. Thank you for a really fun week on OKI!
This house was everything we had hoped it would be. It's a beautiful and updated home. It was incredibly clean with comfortable beds, bedding, furniture. So many of the beach homes we considered seemed tired and a bit run down. This was the total opposite. We'd certain enjoy staying here in the future.
Note: There isn't an elevator and the kitchen and main living area are on the top floor, along with the master bedroom. This was fine for us but could pose a challenge for others. Also, towels were provided but you need to bring your own beach towels. There are plenty of pots, pans, dishes, glasses, etc. The kitchen was perfectly stocked for people who like to cook.
