About the host
Hosted by Dana Fallentine
I manage a few properties in Southern Utah, and my husband Matt is a software engineer. We enjoy hiking, boating, kayaking, canyoneering, and love Zion National Park! We have 4 children, two college kids, a high-schooler and our youngest is in middle school.
Why they chose this property
I love this property because it is central to all that Southern Utah has to offer! We love the amazing location and enjoy spending weekends and at least a full week a year in Southern Utah. We are avid hikers, and our favorite spots are the Zion Narrows, Angel's Landing, Bryce Canyon National Park, Sand Hollow State Park, the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Snow Canyon's lava tubes, and Pioneer Park in St. George.
If you make it to Zion Village, be sure to walk along the river at the Zion Narrows! We like to rent bikes on our way into the park, or we bring our own. We load the bikes on the free Zion shuttles in groups of 2-3 and meet up again at the Temple of Sinawava. We park our bikes in the bike rack and hike to the Narrows (this is an easy walk on a mostly flat, paved 1-mile trail). Once the trail ends, we change into water shoes and hike as far as we can (usually 2 miles with kids on a warm day). I pack blow up water floats in my backpack for the kids and let them float down. This is a kids paradise, where they can climb rocks and splash water. Please note that you do not need a permit to hike up the Narrows from the Temple of Sinawava.
When we get back to the base of the Temple of Sinawava (yes there are restrooms & water), we hop on the bikes for the ride down the canyon. Before the next stop (Big Bend) you will see an unlabeled Menu Falls. It’s easy to miss, so keep your eyes open for the little path that will be on your left.
Be sure to move your bike to the side of the road (ok, the shuttle drivers like you off the road) and hop off your bike when a shuttle is behind you. The view is perfect to get a family picture of everyone on bikes as you approach Big Bend.
We ride down to the Zion Lodge and have lunch. After lunch, we continue down the road, and at Canyon Junction, we navigate onto the official bike path.
Please note that Zion Village Resort is still under construction.

What makes this property unique
There are some amazing views of the Zion Mountains! You can see the Kolob Mountains and the Zion mountains from the back of the townhouse. This location is central if you want to visit Zion National Park, the north rim of the Grand Canyon, Sand Hollow, St. George, Snow Canyon, & Bryce Canyon. There are 12+ golf courses within 20 miles of Zion Village. Lake Powell and Antelope Canyon could be visited on a day trip. Brianhead Ski Resort and the Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City are fabulous seasonal options. The Red Cliff Recreation Area and Quail Creek Reservoir are great places to explore. There are hundreds of miles of biking and hiking trails nearby.
