We loved the simplicity, the attention to detail and the location! It is off a main road, but very quiet, no street or city lights at night. The space was very clean - This is a fun 'hotel room' - aka nicer than glamping - easy buttons for lights, the cast iron wood burning stove was a breeze... yes the toilet, kitchen, shower is outside... it all makes sense and works well... very peaceful, and sean was very response and helpful.

Charming and efficient cottage with less desirable location than expected
The cottage is very well designed and comfortable. The location is not as desirable as it is situated near the road and pigs which makes sitting outside less appealing: there is a sour smell coming from the vegetable matter in the pig’s pen. That said once inside the cabin it is very charming. Even on very hot days the cabin cooled down at night. (No overhead fan in loft but small battery operated fans can be used).
The kitchen area could be cleaner and the water from the hose had bits of leaves in it so the owner provides spring water for drinking. Also you need to purchase ice for cooler to keep things relatively cool.
Be sure to get the access code as the lock on the door can lock from the outside depending on the setting you choose. The owner does not reside on the property but you can call him. The number is provided in the kitchen area.
All in all I would recommend this property.

If you are a guest who locks themselves out because they don't read/respond to host's messaging (where your door code is listed), complains about the brand of French Press provided (at an off-grid farm cabin in Maine), and is offended we don't live on site to hold your hand...we are not the property for you.
We enjoyed our stay very much. If it had been warm enough to enjoy all of our meals outside that would have been wonderful. We didn’t plan or pack for any rain but when it poured for a solid day, we were thankful for the cabin’s shelter and wifi and umbrella when we went out. Although we brought an infant and a 2.5yo, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this property for such little/young kids unless you’re prepared for spotting them up and down the ladder. We loved the hanging indoor swing and our neighbors- friendly pigs!
Brand new build that is off-grid with a wonderful solar charging station for your cell phones! Clean and functional outdoor kitchen and the best outdoor shower ever and clean outhouse.
Enjoy snorting friendly pigs and awaken to ravens sitting in 100+ year white pines, this place is just magical and a short drive to an amazing food Co-Op and other amenities. You won't be disappointed!
The place is wonderful! I wanted to spend time disconnecting, reading a writing for my studies. Couldn’t ask for more. Enjoyed being inside and outside, taking a shower late into the night with just a flashlight above me, the 7am coffee with a sun shining directly at me, waking up to the birds singing, and many many more. Loved meeting the pigs and having imaginary conversations with them :) Sean was a great host, ultra responsive and helpful. Can’t wait to be back!
Great property to stay at, everything was just as described, had a great time staying here and it's conveniently located for the National Park without having to worry about all the crowds.
The Cozy Cabin is exactly as advertised! Everything was spotlessly clean and incredibly well-organized. I appreciated the complete and thoughtful instructions for the outdoor shower, solar charger, and wood stove, and the setting was just perfect. Spent a rainy day curled up in the hammock chair reading a book from the Blue Hill Book Store, spent the sunny days hiking and exploring on our bikes. Pure bliss.
It was nice to stay on a working farm in a rustic setting. The cabin was comfortable for 3 people and we had no issues with outdoor kitchen, shower and toilet. The solar powered electricity always worked but obviously it was best on sunny days. Very helpful and communicative owner.
We had a wonderful time at the cabin. It was the best of camping and a hotel stay. Close to all we wanted to do, but private enough for peace. I recommend it whole heartedly.
Our family had an amazing time staying for a week at Sean's property. The cabin is small but cozy and most importantly it met all our needs. The kids loved the pig neighbors and the inside hammock and I was impressed with the fact that the cabin's minimalist and eco-friendly design did not take away anything from our complete comfort. Sean was very responsive and took care of our needs immediately and thoughtfully. Blue Hill is a little but away from Acadia National Park, but it is also less touristy and you get a better sense of the "true" Maine experience. Would gladly stay here again.
The cabin was terrific. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it was the perfect balance of comfortable and rustic. The pigs were a constant source of entertainment. We loved them!
Such an amazing place to stay for a long weekend – we loved the wood stove, the bed loft, and most of all the adorable pigs right on our doorstep! Thanks for everything.
My partner and I enjoyed a stay in this lovely, cozy cabin. Like camping but a hot shower and a super comfy bed. The kitchen is furnished with basics. The “ladder” to the loft is at a bit of an angle, making it easier than a straight up ladder. The pigs outside were amusing and entertaining.
This is my second time staying at this wonderful property. It is such a healing experience for me to come to Maine and this cabin provides the sanctuary I need from the outside world. It has everything you need and nothing you did not and that makes for time for great reflection and contemplation. I'll be back next year and I can't wait to return
This is my first ever online review (not something I do) - but, if you have a chance to stay at either of Sean's properties (and soon to be 3rd), I would highly recommend staying. We left NYC for a week in the Northeast and thankfully stumbled on Sean's listing. There is no better cabin experience (or lodging in general) - a beautifully designed and built cabin, with windows looking at the trees, rivers, and the adjacent farm. An outdoor kitchen that has everything you need to make any type of meal. I felt guilty leaving the place to travel around (Blue Hill is a perfect / quaint town), nestled next to other quaint little towns, along the landscape of the Maine coast. If you want to disconnect, get off your phone, grab a book, enjoy the world around you, and spend a few days in peace and quiet, you should be fortunate enough to find availability and stay here.
The cabin was incredible! So cute and clean! Sean was an awesome host and made sure the cabin had everything I would need. It is close to town, but also perfectly hidden away for a nice relaxed escape. The kitchen and bathroom are rustic, but super clean, so this place is perfect if that is the trip you are looking for!! Would come again 10/10!
So many little details that made this a great stay -- shampoo in the shower, nice sheets, all the cooking gear you might possibly need and even wood for the stove! So much more thoughtful than many Airbnbs/VRBOs I have stayed in. The view of the pigs from the window were a cherry on top!
As the listing notes, the outdoor kitchen and outhouse definitely makes the cabin rustic! But if that's something you enjoy (which we do) this is a really great, tranquil experience.
A MUST for those who want to experience Maine’s true beauty
Everything about this place is exactly what I hoped for. The beautiful cabin and outdoor kitchen and shower provide a surreal escape from an hectic life. Sean could not have been more welcoming and helpful during my stay, providing firewood for the wood burning heater, Ice, and even advice for activities. Within short driving distance of Acadia National Park and many more of Maine’s best attractions, my experience here couldn’t have been better. I can’t wait to come back!
Sometimes the simple things add up to a magical experience, which is the case with this beautiful Cabin. Super comfortable Queen bed with decadent linens and blankets, wood stove, and multiple quiet spaces where we could relax and enjoy the amazing natural beauty. Outdoor shower was AH-mazing, and the kitchen had everything we needed. We put away our phones and played several of the many games on the shelf. Lots of small things provided (slippers, towels, umbrella, water bottles, cooler, etc) that made the whole stay a total pleasure.
Beautifully built, spare but with all the necessities, this lovely cabin is truly off the grid. Super cozy bed on a loft takes this place up from camping to indoor glamping. Small outdoor kitchen allows basic cooking but not much more. Small rechargeable lights are all the lighting available. Local town had several great dining spots and Bar Harbor and all of Acadia is nearby. Host was friendly, available and quick to respond to any requests.
