This was the perfect place to stay. We were at our day's outing in just a few minutes but out of the crowds in a peaceful location when we were done. The unit was clean, comfortable, and a great size. It had everything we needed and more.
Thank you for sharing this house with us. First, the location was on the quiet side of the island and out of the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor which we loved. The town was a short walk and had restaurants and shops. We loved the Clark Point Cafe for breakfast. We also liked Eat a Pita. The ice cream shop had great blueberry pie. Second, the house is beautiful and the decor and details were very thought out. You had a view of the Harbor from the 2 decks . The house was clean and very spacious. Third, Christi was easy to communicate with and responded promptly

First time visitor to Southwest Harbor
Overall the rental was clean, comfortable and had nice relaxed feeling. We were disappointed with the tight shower and small bathroom. The living space was roomy enough for two people. The king size bed was comfortable. We did not realize that this area had restaurants closing for the season, however did find the local restaurants friendly and reasonable prices. Being on site with the marina, people should be aware of the early morning traffic on the docks. Althought, not enough to deter us from renting there again.
We very much enjoyed this cottage and found it to be well organized and had everything we needed. We were very comfortable there. Slept great on great sheets ( not polyester! Yea!) Very quiet. We did have to open the windows when we arrived due to heavy fragrance and cleaners, took several days to get rid of the smell. Lighting could be better in the bedroom if you like to read in bed. But really, I would happily stay here again and felt the owner really tried to think of everything you would need. Some of the photos need to be updated as some furnishings such as couches have changed. It was truly a comfortable lovely little cottage. Thanks!
This is a great one bedroom house for a couple. Christie gave us helpful info, and we enjoyed having a kitchen for meals and picnic prep/ While the kitchen is basic, it was very well-equipped. Bed is king-size and comfortable, shower was great. The lighting could be a bit brighter in the bedroom as we like to read at night before bed. Also the washing machine is located next door and is a pay machine, which I did not realize until we arrived. No big deal, but just mentioning. We would definitely stay here again. We loved SW Harbor.
Charmingly rustic on the outside, the property is up-to-date and thoughtfully decorated on the inside. The bedroom is very spacious and the open-plan living room, dining room, and kitchen is very comfortable. We appreciated the little touches: a selection of books and games, TVs in the living room and bedroom, and an apron in the kitchen. There is a laundromat next door and be sure to bring a roll of quarters because there isn’t a change machine. There are several good restaurants within walking distance, along with a gourmet/wine shop, a small grocery store, and a bakery.
The Boathouse Cottage is very nicely maintained, clean, spacious, and comfortable. It’s located only a few blocks from the center of Southwest Harbor, with a good selection of restaurants and several lovely shops, including a terrific little wine and cheese shop. We prepared most of our own meals at the cottage and the kitchen seemed well equipped for our needs. The location is right in the middle of the commercial marina area, which wouldn’t ordinarily be our first choice, but we thought we’d give it a try this time. Bright lights from the marine store across the street and the lack of a quiet outdoor sitting area were drawbacks for us, but with windows closed the cottage was fairly quiet inside. We did put up extra covering on the street side bedroom window to reduce the light at night. Being country folks, we like it dark at night. All together, it’s a trade off between location convenient to shops, restaurants, and the Island Explorer bus line versus a more secluded, quiet location. The cottage itself is very nice and the pricing is more than fair.

Great cottage in the less busy town of Southwest Harbor
Perfect little cottage with a short drive to Acadia and other points of interest. The home was well stocked with items that made it feel less like a rental and more of a place we could call home. Bathroom is rather small, but we had no complaints. Only a 15-20 minute drive to the park this was everything we hoped it would be.

Great Spot
We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was very roomy & bigger than I expected. It was clean, nicely decorated and appointed. The cottage is part of a busy working marina. We were able to get lobsters from the guys at the marina dock. Everyone was very friendly. We enjoyed sitting & eating on the patio, watching everybody go by, and listening to the music from the nearby restaurant. Also, loved the short walk into town.

Wow!!!
Me and my family had a fabulous time. Clean and cozy. Could not be any better! Right on the water. Walked to the restaurants and all of the really cool shops. We walked right to our boat that we had docked in the beautiful marina!! We had so much fun, and will be back again!!!!
About the host
Hosted by Christie Dysart
Hi! My name is Christie Dysart. I have been fortunate enough to be a stay at home mom and am sending my eldest to college later this year. Six years ago we decided to purchase a summer cottage here in SWH. We'd been staying at my in-laws for many years prior to that. Our children are student athletes so we're not able to spend the whole summer at camp. In order to off-set costs we began renting our cottage. It was so successful that we booked fully and began looking for another so that we had a place to stay on the weekends. I now own 3 properties and manage 3 others. It's become a part-time job that I love! The guests that I've helped over the last 5-6 yrs. have been delightful! I'm so happy to be part of planning many families Maine summer vacations! Over the years we have made many friends and I see the same families year after year. I love my Job!!
Why they chose this property
This property is a bit unique. It's part of our marina complex. It's been housing for a boat captains family, a boat dealer's office and most recently the residence of one of our marina customers. It's the perfect location! Within walking distance to all area shopping and restaurants. Just steps from an amazing summer gallery of local lobster fishing boats and amazing cruising yachts! Acadia National Park completly surrounds SWH, Bass Harbor Head Light, Echo Lake, Somes Sound, Mt. Saviour, the list goes on. We are just 20-25 minutes away from all of the best park attractions such as Thunder Hole, Otter Cliffs, and Jordan Pond.
What makes this property unique
This quaint cottage is all about comfort, we have provided all of the perks of home comfort in an exciting local.
