we stayed while the weather was snowing and it was beautiful. the cabin was well stocked and very comfortable. the host was very accommodating. we had to call on him several times and he was always quick to respond to our needs. couldn't have asked for anyone nicer! the stream in back was so beautiful too. the location was convenient to other attractions, stores and restaurants. went tubing and had a blast.

Not much privacy
Properly manager came by 3 times unannounced in 3 days asking questions. This is more of a single wide trailer than a cabin. It was ok.
My two best friends and I stayed in Mountain River for a long weekend, and it was exactly what we needed! The cabin is extremely clean and stocked with everything you need (even plenty of towels for 3 women!) The property owner Shane is super helpful, readily available if needed and even went in to turn the heat and lights on for us as we were arriving after dark. We were able to get firewood from him as well. There are other cabins on the property, but they are far enough apart that privacy did not feel like an issue. The hot tub is in great working order and is covered on the deck facing the river. The deck is huge with several rocking chairs and a patio table with chairs. Sleeping in the loft area may not be comfortable for some adults, but since I sleep like a rock through the night and wouldn’t be climbing up and down in the dark it was fine for me.
LOCATION, location, location! The cabin is minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and many great places to visit! We hiked at the Linville Falls (a national park) and visited the Linville Falls Winery. It is also close to Grandfather Mountain, Banner Elk and Beech mountain (Fred’s Mercantile general store at Beech is a gem!)
I’d love to come back and stay here with my husband and son during warm weather and take advantage of having the river in the front yard. Mountain River cabin is awesome!
Loved being at such a peaceful place. Brought all we needed. Never needed to leave. Grill and fire pit convenient and grilled several times. Kitchen had what we needed. Would bring spices along. Towels super soft. Enjoyed the hot tub. Would consider buying a lot but no longer have spots on the river available. Will be back with just the two of us.
We were celebrating my Daughters birthday and wanted to rent a cabin close to an area to snow tube. We found these beautiful cabins and were so excited! When we got ready to leave that day we got a notice the hot tub in our cabin was not working and that was one of the main reasons we picked that particular cabin. When I messaged Shane back he was so kind and accommodating. He had a different cabin although smaller and gave us the choice to switch if we liked. We did take the smaller cabin and it was wonderful! The view of the river behind each cabin on the property is amazing. Shane was so kind checking in on us by text a couple of times though out the stay. Also the linens were soft the bed comfortable and the place was so clean! I would highly recommend this property!
My husband, brother and law and I rented this cabin for Christmas week. Cleanliness of the cabin was great! Super cozy and up to date. Owners were amazing! Easy to communicate with and even showed us some amazing gems around the area. The huge patio and river view was amazing. I was so disappointed that it wasn’t going to snow but the beauty of this place not covered in snow made everything worth it. Thank you to Shane and his family for being outstanding hosts, we will be back!
My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights for our 10th anniversary. We loved the location and the proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is small, but had everything we needed. The other cabins are much closer than they appear in the pictures, but it is a quiet area and we barely saw or heard anyone else. If you're looking for good food, the Italian restaurant just up the road has amazing pizza! Its simply called Italian pizza and pasta or something similar.
This cabin was great for two adults and a dog but would be crowded with any more than that. Had everything we needed, including a jacuzzi. The grounds were nice, with a stream running right behind the cabin. There were a few other cabins a little closer than I expected but that was no problem. It was a little out of the way for the places we wanted to visit (Banner Elk, Boone, Blowing Rock), but the location was clearly indicated, so that was on us. The Manager Shane was wonderful and we would highly recommend this cabin.
Perfect birthday getaway and location to sugar mountain
We LOVED this quaint cabin! Complete with an indoor fireplace and hot tub on the deck, this place was a great match for what we were looking for after having snowboarding sessions at Sugar Mountain. It was not a far drive from SM and was a great location that made us feel like we had our own private oasis in the snow. The water was a nice calming feature and overall we felt safe and warm staying here. The property manager was Also very kind, helpful and responsive, making us feel right at home. We highly recommend and would love to come back! :-)

Beautiful River spot!
Very fun ‘tiny’ cabin property on a gorgeous river with a little creek and a hot tub to soak the sore away from all of the fun snow activities near by.
Would also be fun for a summer time visit to play in the water!
Be sure to bring books, dvds and games and do your research before coming to the area as you probably won’t be able to make calls or look online.
Our family of 4 was a perfect fit for this spot.
Our family (2 adults + a 5yo) enjoyed a cozy, long weekend at the Mountain River cabin. The kitchen was well equipped, the living space was comfortable and Shane was easy to communicate with. Our little one had fun exploring the large backyard and my husband enjoyed fly fishing in the river. We were thrilled to have snow on the ground for our entire trip—lots of fun sledding at Beech and hiking at Linville Falls—and were surprised to awake to a fresh inch on departure day. Shane went out of his way to help get us city folk (read: our SUV doesn’t have 4WD) up the icy entrance hill. Would recommend this cabin as a great base for exploring the area.
I surprised my husband with a weekend away for his 50th birthday and the cabin did not disappoint. Beautiful, river view, amazing hot tub, cozy cabin and fireplace. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. Hopefully we can come back!
So lovely being on the river. My husband is a fly fisherman and this was perfect. Caught some great fish. He does catch and release. I was able to watch from the porch. Just heavenly.
