Other things to note
We live upstairs in the main house; I have a corgi mix named Benjamin. The dog is pretty quiet and very friendly, but you will almost certainly hear us on some occasions. But like you we sleep in on the weekends, and we all go to the upstairs for bed by the time you are home from your evening out on the town. We will observe quiet hours from 10PM - 7AM, and ask you to do the same.

You will have access to the entire guest suite and can come and go as you please. You can use the BBQ, and patio with outdoor dining.
Interaction with guests
As a host I can help you with ideas of places to go and things to do. You'll be able to reach me by phone or text, and I am often on site in my home. I am happy to help you with anything you may need.
The neighborhood is quite, and we are a pretty mellow family. While the back yard is shared you will likely have it mostly to yourselves. We have a friendly small dog, Benjamin, and 3 adorable cats that go in and out to the back yard, and love to meet new people! REGISTRATION NUMBER: 19-228230-000-00-HO

We had just returned from New Zealand and we were exhausted. The unit is comfortable and the bedroom is dark and good for sleeping at odd times. The location was close to our friends and convenient. Easy to park on the street. No issues whatsoever.

Thank you for staying Kenneth. We enjoyed having you. I'm so glad it was the perfect place to rest up after your long flight. We'd love to have you back any time!
We had a fantastic stay in Portland. Martha greeted us when we arrived and made sure we knew how everything in the apt worked (including the TV) and she was always available by email or text for any questions.
Public transportation is conveniently close (several block walk). Grocery store on Broadway. No washer or dryer but a super hip laundry mat called Spin is easily accessible by public trans or Lyft. Best of all the the bed was really comfortable - had excellent sleep. We would absolutely stay here again if we ever revisit Portland.

I stayed for three weeks at the start of Autumn 2025 and had a lovely time; this is an excellent choice for anyone visiting Portland.House: as the listing indicates, this is a fully furnished basement suite and is well maintained with central AC/heat at 68F. The owner lives upstairs in the main house, but they are rather quiet; you'll only hear the adorable clacking of their pets' feet on the floor above you. The photos are accurate to the unit. You might occasionally need to kill a small spider or similar. 10/10: if I ever return to Portland, I will look to stay here first.Location: For those familiar with Portland, it is close enough to Lloyd for a 5 minute walk to the A/B loop and 7 min to the MAX, which is great. For those unfamiliar with Portland, Lloyd Mall and the Safeway above it is a consistent place for the homeless (at least since 2022) so it might be unsettling to some, but unlike other cities, in Portland they tend to keep to themselves. Like I said, the house is far enough North that it isn't a problem, and, if you are still uneasy, just walk West a few blocks and then South, instead of South and then West on your way to the tram/MAX, to avoid them completely. Truly a nonissue, but worth knowing if you aren't a local.Owner: Very kind, friendly, and accommodating; she responds quickly and was absolutely wonderful!Overall: This is a true hidden gem in a nicer, tranquil neighbourhood, and I fully recommend it as a first choice for staying in Portland.

Portland's Pungent Pee Pee Palace
There are several important things that the property pictures do not show, nor do the details describe or disclose.
#1 - The VERY strong smell of animals. So bad that I was going to dab some toothpaste under my nose just to be able to sleep in the overwhelming odor. The blue couch from the old profile pictures is now all scratched and shredded up, proving the existence of a cat(s).
#2 - Spiders & webs. Immediately upon entering, my husband killed 2 that were very visibly living in corners with webs dangling in the shower, doorways, room corners and baseboards.
#3 - Private entrance is misleading! While there is an external "private entrance" leading to the rental, there is also an internal private entrance from the main house going straight into the rental. The door is only able to be locked from the other side and therefore the rental may be accessed at anytime by anyone on the other side of the door.
Due to reasons # 2 & 3 we never resorted to the toothpaste idea but rather we opted to pay money (that we hadn't budgeted for) and sleep elsewhere because we were in need of a good night's sleep & unfortunately my child is highly allergic to cats.
I'm still baffled that this property was rating 5 stars. The only possibility I could come up with is that perhaps when the nearby homeless want to get out of the elements or take a shower, they rent this affordable location and are very impressed.
Important info for you:
There still may be a large spider under the master bed as well as one over the shower head as we discontinued our extermination project prior to leaving.

It’s unfortunate that some people clearly have distortions and confusion and unwarranted fears that make them unsuitable guests, and unhappy people perhaps. The rental does not have pets allowed inside, or pet orders. I have great reviews and happy guests. Too bad, you can’t please everyone, and some people will never be pleased at all. Ces’t la vie!
This rental is perfect for a stay visiting Portland if you plan to use public transit! Only a 10 min walk from a MAX light rail station, it’s a quick zip to downtown and why where else on the line. There is also amazing food and drinks on NE Broadway. The rental is very comfortable, had all the necessities, and lots of helpful brochures for exploring Portland. If we come back, we will definitely stay here again!
Cute , quiet neighborhood and everyone was very friendly. Close to everything downtown. Great place to stay for my daughter and me. Loved the mushroom nightlights 💙 would stay again!
The property in Irvington was in a great location in a beautiful neighborhood! The neighborhood was very walkable with lots of blooming trees, shrubs & flowers. The listing and photos were accurate & our host was available as needed. Would definitely stay again!
The property is very nice, well appointed, comfortable. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. E.g, we needed somewhere to leave our luggage for the day on the last day of our trip and the owner obliged. The property is in an excellent neighborhood very close to restaurants and shopping. It is about 1.5 to 2 miles from central Portland so transport is usually needed to go there but bus system is great. The only minor issue that we noted is that since you are in a basement apt, you get no sunlight in the morning so better set your alarm. Also you have no control over thermostat so air conditioning can get cold and it is a bit loud. But we enjoyed the apt., loved the neighborhood, and appreciated the kind owner.
My family of 4 stayed here for 4 nights and it was a perfect spot for us. The neighborhood was very quiet and walking distance to shops, including Peet's Coffee, which is my husband's favorite. Public transit was close, but it was easy enough to drive and park in the city that we didn't need it. Martha was a great host.
A very cute little downstairs apt with separate entrance. simply but nicely furnished. The bed was *very* comfortable after walking all over NE and SE Portland. The kitchen was adequately equipped for cooking basic meals if needed - and Safeway is only a couple of blocks away -- but since Portland is a such a foodie paradise we elected to eat out/take out. An easy walk to restaurants, coffee shops, etc. Would love to stay there again!
Nicely decorated place. Loved the size of the kitchen and bedroom. Martha was friendly and helpful.
