The Stuga was absolutely divine! The whole cottage was perfect. Comfy beds, complete kitchen and relaxing living room. We will be booking this cottage again.

Delightful retreat

What a lovely place! We were welcomed by the host upon arrival and she even gave us a few local recommendations that were good for kids for our weekend. The cottage was perfect for our family of four, and had all we needed to cook meals and relax together during our stay. The kids (5 & 3) really loved the swings on the property and the beach was great for viewing sunsets and stars. The eat-in kitchen was cozy, but it was also nice to have the outdoor table and chairs to enjoy a nice evening. Especially appreciated were the puzzles and books, lots of linens, well stocked kitchen, cozy decor, and kindness of the host! We had an excellent experience and would stay here again.

Relaxing weekend

Perfect little cottage

We were looking for a small, quiet place on the water to get away from the city for the weekend, and this was exactly what we needed! Everything was quaint, comfortable, and clean. We enjoyed our stay very much!

We had a great time visiting the Stuga. A very charming and cozy place perfect for the 2 of us. Well stocked with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. A nice launching pad to see the rest of Door County.

Cute and Charming

Charming cottage with sweetest host. We did not get to enjoy the outdoors much due to weather and bugs, but the yard was large and had everything you needed. Would definitely recommend if you want to be away from it all, but next time we will stay more centrally located in Door County.

It was a great place to stay. The host was very responsive and helpful. The place was very well equipped with everything you need for cooking. The view from the house to the lake was very pretty as well, and you can make a little bonfire to relax with the view of the lake. The host had all the materials for making a fire and they even left some things for s’mores . We definitely come back.

Anniversary getaway

Barbaro is a very warm and welcoming hostess! All comforts of home are provided, access to wood and the fire-ring near the water are great features! The quite neighborhood makes the 15-minute-drive to Sturgeon Bay so worth it! We will definitely consider booking a stay here again in the future, we truly enjoyed our stay!

We loved our stay in the cottage! We could not think of anything else that we could have needed or wanted to make our stay more comfortable or enjoyable. Barbro is an amazing host and has truly thought of everything! The highlight for us was the bonfire in front of the beautiful water. Thank you for providing such a perfect place to stay after full days of exploring Door County!

Loved it!

We were extremely pleased with the cottage! Although it was small they efficiently used every available space well! It was surprising that there were 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms! The location was very nice and quiet. Beautiful view of the lake! Highly recommend this location for a nice quiet getaway!!!!!!

Peaceful VRBO

This area is so peaceful. We sat by the water even when it was a bit chilly. The view is spectacular. The house is small but for just perfect for the 2 of us. You’d have to walk a few yards and pass the main house to get to their backyard where the fire pit is and the stairs to the water. The area is quiet and not busy at all and no traffic We enjoyed the fall colors and scenic driving entering Idlewild .

Absolutely Delightful!

It is a wonderful cottage that is very reminiscent of the stugas our family has stayed in in Sweden. Was in a very quiet and beautiful area. It was the restful peaceful atmosphere that we were looking for away from the hustle and bustle of the city/suburbs. I have very severe asthma and I had no problems whatsoever here and actually breathed better here than at home! We’ve already recommended this place to friends and family was delighted by the pictures we sent them.

Quiet, Relaxing and very clean

Great cozy place to stay if your planning on visiting Door County. Owner’s home is on the water with the Stuga at the front of the property. You have the property to yourself with the big backyard and fire pit, no beach, fully stocked kitchen and all the comforts of home. Barbo couldn’t have been nicer

Cozy & Quiet

This little cottage nestled in the woods, surrounded by wildlife (saw 4 deer in the yard and 7 wild turkeys!) was very clean, and quite. Beautiful yard and outdoor seating area! Very well equipted with everything you will need in the kitchen and bathrooms. The only downside were the mattresses in the small bedroom need replacing.

Perfect in every way

We could not have asked for a more comfortable place to stay, better location, or more welcoming host. In this cozy stuga, Barbaro appears to have thought of everything. Full access to their waterfront and firepit, and a quiet neighborhood that is still convenient to the state park, Sturgeon Bay, and everything up the coast. Cannot think of a single gripe, and the rate is more than fair for such a lovely property. (With a separate half bath for our kids, even!)
