The Hickman-Bond House. A Prairie style home by Disciple of Frank Lloyd Wright

Restored 1915 Prairie style home located in Hannibal's Maple Avenue Historic District, within walking distance from downtown Hannibal and the Mississippi River.

Cozy yet elegant, this home is perfect for a Family Vacation, Friends Reunion or Romantic Getaway.

Features: Spacious Living Room with wood burning fireplace and built in bookcases; Dining Room that seats 6+ people with serving sideboard and french doors; well-appointed Kitchen with everything you need to make and serve wonderful meals. 3 Upstairs bedrooms are spacious, with carefully selected period furnishings, new plush mattresses, and comfortable fine bedding. We are Pet Friendly for pets who travel well ($75 per pet fee; advance approval is REQUIRED, subject to House Rules). Free WIFI and Roku TV.

The house has many fine details - such as the woodwork in the Living and Dining Rooms, a well crafted staircase, book shelves surrounding the fireplace, a built in ironing board and shoe shine closet, the small library in the cozy "Old Nursery" and the "Away" space in the upstairs hallway framed with windows.

This home is perfect for guests who are seeking an authentic historic home experience. In the home's renovation we have preserved as many original features as possible. These historic features (such as original woodwork, windows, sinks and toilets, tile, hardware, original kitchen countertop etc.) show their age in the form of patina. Our design approach is to be sensitive to the homes past and embrace its authentic historic features. We do not rip everything out and create a modern day home inside. Yet we have many modern amenities in the home, such as Central Air Conditioning (1st floor), WIFI and Roku TV.

Folk arts festival stay

Met my brother and sister in law and their little dog for a long weekend. We enjoyed the festival and other area sites. The mansion on the hill has a great tour. The house was comfortable and historically interesting and offered a wonderful living room area to gather to talk.

We totally enjoyed our stay at the Hickman Bond house! It was just as the listing stated. In a unique neighborhood of mansions and turn of the century homes. Close to down town Hannibal, restaurants, the pier and shopping. You will not be disappointed!

Historical wonder

We came to go to the steam punk festival in Hannibal, Missouri, And found this gem to stay in for the weekend. Every bit of this house is charming and a delight to the eyes. There was ample space for our group And everyone enjoyed the house and its amenities. It does have a few old house quirks, but that’s to be expected and a wonderfully charming old home. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful historic home.

This is a lovely old home, beautifully restored. The host was great and the home has everthing you could possibly need. Comfortable beds, kitchen well stocked and nice seating areas. The fireplaces, wood trim and doors are beautiful. Bathrooms have very ornate toilets, sinks and clawfoot tubs. Everything is very clean. It was within walking distance to downtown tourist attractions, shopping and great restaurants. Would highly recommend.

This home had distinctive historical architectural detail. Bedrooms were large and comfortable. Kitchen had modern touches while staying on theme. Kitchen chairs were historic, but uncomfortable. Shower water pressure was appropriate for house age. Kiddo got a kick out of the pull chain toilet flush.

Due to an issue with this property, we were unable to stay here, but the owners informed us in plenty of time. They had another propety in thr area that we could stay. They were great with communication. The house was cleab and well taken care of.

A beautifully restored home

This property was absolutely amazing. I was completely obsessed with it. I loved all of the little old home touches that were still there in the house. The neighborhood is a tad run down but that is one thing I love about what the owners are trying to do here. There are a ton of renovations going on in the neighborhood right now. We did not feel unsafe at all. We went for walks around the neighborhood to look at the homes. There is plenty of outdoor lighting and cameras. Plenty of room and great additions like the keurig and assortment of coffee. The front porch is great for just hanging out. The owner was wonderful about staying in touch. We were so happy to be able to bring our dog along with us as well. I highly recommend this property!

Childhood memories

Can not really think of any thing to criticize. Security for those who are not Hannibalians was EXCELLENT. Locks on all doors are very secure. Excellent preservation yet modernized for today's technological environment (Internet access/ gas heating as opposed to the coal heating that existed when I lived there and modern utilities (when I lived there diaphers were still cloth so you can guess about washing machines and stoves and stuff like that). Yet everything else reflected the time of when the house was built (I lived there for 6 years back in the fifties).

It was a nice quiet house that was nice and comfortable to visit with old friends. Wasn’t a long stay and very cold weekend so we stayed at the house most of the weekend and was very inviting.

Charming, classy and cool!

This home has been beautifully restored. We loved all of the original hardwood throughout the home. They have decorated with antique furnishings, decor and even dishes. We felt safe in the home and the neighborhood. It was fun to walk around the area and see other beautiful homes that have been lovingly renovated.
