About this property

Cabot Cabin on a Quiet County Road

Our cozy 1830's cabin is on an old farm and just down the road from a breathtaking view over the Northeast Kingdom. In winter, cabin stays at 65 degrees. Very quiet, with virtually no traffic but the mailman once a day. The house is undeniably rustic, but charming and furnished with well-loved antiques. Open floor plan -bathroom only room with a door. Kids 7yrs+ welcome. Not near any downhill ski areas, and the rental is for the cabin and lawns, not whole property, and on unmaintained farm land, so are some old sheds and barn on land that are not accessible or safe for guests, though there is a front and side lawn that are kept mowed in the summer with seating, etc. November 1st through May 1st, guests will need snow tires or AWD / 4WD. Additionally, during "mud season," March 15 through April 25, you MUST have 4WD or AWD and a higher clearance car/truck. Some reviews of our property on Airbnb: "What a fantastic, cool, unique space to stay in. This older cabin has some really interesting antique décor and books, and I loved the unique lighting; it truly added to the rustic feel of the home. The owners really thought of everything when designing the space and stocking the space for guests, and we really appreciated the little extras. This is the perfect space for one couple and possibly one to two older children, and easy enough to find ... And what a beautiful view to wake up to! Cabot is a great little town with a small market and Harry's Hardware (hardware/bar/live music venue). We would be very happy to stay again here if we are in the area!" - Monica. And another from Lindsay: "Jennifer's house was perfect for a weekend getaway. Every nook was beautiful and perfectly decorated and the entire house felt cozy and comfortable. ... It was so relaxing to hike all day and come home and cook dinner together and cuddle up on the couch with a nice book and not even think of missed calls or meetings. The house is close to Groton State Forest, Kettle Pond State Park, and Peacham Pond ...Our stay was perfect and we loved the beautiful scenery - we can't wait to come back!" and finally one from Lucas: "The cabin was beautiful. The open floor plan worked well for us. Perfect for a couple or small family. Jennifer was an exceptional host and was very responsive when we had questions. We loved exploring the area and thought it was a great introduction to Vermont. Would definitely come back."

About the host

Host profile image
My family has owned this house since 2001. We love the house and the land and are so happy that others are able to enjoy it as well. It is a magical place! We are super hosts on Airbnb and have a five star rating so if you would like to hear more about what others have said about our property, you can read our excellent reviews there.

Why they chose this property

This cabin was built sometime around 1830. It has such a sense of history about it and we have even met a woman who lived there back in the 1930;s before it had electricity or running water!

What makes this property unique

The land and house are very private with very few cars passing all day and you can see more stars than you can imagine! There are two small family dairy farms at each end of our road and the views from those farms are famous, even for Vermont- almost every year, we find one of these views in a Vermont scenic calendar. We are near a lot of hiking, lakes and ponds, and various festivals, from beer to music, happen all summer, and cross-country skiing and snow-shoeing in the winter.
