Great getaway for my family! Kathie was very helpful and reponded quickly with any of our questions. Wolf lake and the cottage gave us a relaxing week. The cottage was perfect for our family of 5! Between catching bass, floating on the sand bar, and bonfires every night, we are grateful we were able to stay for a week.
Kathie was great with communication leading up to our visit and upon arrival! Highly recommend this place. A/C in the bedrooms was wonderful on hot nights! A great cabin right on the lake! Beautiful sunrises too!
Had a great time.. really enjoyed the stay.. We had 7 guys fishing for 2 days on the Pere Marquette and the location was perfect.. The place was everything as advertised..
The house was perfect for our needs. Property was peaceful and amazing views. Owner was very nice and very easy to communicate with. Lots of nice days trips as location was near lots of other things to do. Highly recommend.
This was the 5th year we stayed at the sunrise retreat and as always loved every minute of it! Kathie and Bob are the best hosts and I feel like family when staying there. This year was a little different as we had our 10 month old daughter, and she absolutely loved playing in the wolf! Can’t wait for next year!
This house was clean and beautiful with an open concept. The lake was amazing with warm waters and a sandy swim area. The fishing was pretty good with lots of bluegill and largemouth bass. Communication with Kathie was great and she always responded promptly. My family loved the week we stayed on Wolf Lake. Be sure to visit Jones Ice Cream.
This was our 4th year staying at sunrise retreat and as always it was exactly what we were looking for. Kathie and Bob are great hosts. Wolf lake will forever be in our family and being able to stay at a place that feels like home is a great feeling. We fished every night to have a fish fry on Friday and of course got ice cream at Jones’ as much as possible!! Can’t wait to be back next year!
Our family was very comfortable sleeping seven of us. 3 couples and one individual on the couch. Never pulled bed out of couch to try. Everything we needed was there fir us including kitchen items for cooking. Plenty of seating for family and friends to enjoy. Already booked for next year!!
We enjoyed our time boating, fishing, floating, and swimming. It was nice being able to be up on the deck and watching the kids play in the water. With the house in a large no wake zone the kids were able to venture far out and feel safe. There were plenty of toys and games for us when we weren't in the water. A minor drawback was a lack of an outside hose, it just took a little extra effort to keep the sand out. We were extremely fortunate to have a bald eagle on top of the house for some good close ups.
Great lakefront location, make sure to read all amenities as this location is off grid. Lake is very shallow with lots of seaweed, good for fishing but not swimming… at least not for me.
My husband and I have stayed at Kathie and Bobs for 3 years now, and every time we are always in love with it. Our whole family (50+ People) rent around the lake for a fun relaxing reunion. We always go fishing on The Wolf and caught some monster Bass and Bluegill this year for our fish fry. We can’t wait to return next year!!
The property was great the lake was awesome great place for the 4th they light fireworks for 3 days only problem was we had 1 hot day and no AC in the house just small ones in the bedrooms but still was an amazing stay the rest of the days were nice and cool. We will be staying again.
The property was as described. Finding the place can be a little tricky with the winding-shared driveway. A few things needed addressing, but Kathie was quick to respond. It was a little odd that Renee (the cleaner or house caretaker) stopped by unannounced to see if anyone was there/ anything else was needed. The three trucks with trailers in the front would have answered if we were there. Regardless, we had a great time at the cabin. The location of the cabin to the Little O ORV trail was perfect for my group of riders.
The house was just what we needed for our riding trip. We got the best of both worlds with close trails and the lake right out front. Everything was clean and well taken care of and the owners were very nice and responsive to any questions.

Disappointed and Unsatisfied with Owners Response to Emergency
The water by their dock was mucky and dark so you couldn't see to the bottom well. My grandson tried to run out to hop on the owner's paddle boat with me and was stabbed by a rusty rod of some sort. It was anchored in the water near the dock. I had to take him to the Urgent Care and since the wound was so deep it caused an infection and left small rusty metal particles in his leg. I called the owners the next morning. They sounded concerned but never came by to see what he had gotten hurt on and never removed it from the water our entire stay. When we left it was still in the water. Because the wound was so deep my grandson had to have more antibiotics through an IV and X-Rays and is still following up with doctor visits. The owners are not paying for any of the medical bills and their homeowner's insurance company denied the claim. Because they are providing kayaks and a paddle boat they should at least know if the water between the land and the end of their dock is safe. I am disappointed at the owner's lack of response to his injury.
We enjoyed our visit so much! It was exactly as described. We had a couple of glitches that were completely out of anyone's hands, and the property owner handled it all amazingly. Communication was great. (Refrigerator stopped working, they had it replaced right away!) Make sure you go to eat at Barski - amazing food!! The lake wasn't great for fishing - that's the only drawback, but that's just a small thing. Thanks for a great time!!

Why they chose this property
This cottage has been our family's retreat for the past 20 years. We have enjoyed countless hours of fun, relaxation and being together with friends and family. We want to share this experience with others. Stepping away from the electronic control of daily life and just sitting - watching the lake, listening to the birds, watching an eagle fishing or catching a glimpse of a deer taking a morning drink- this will refresh your being!
What makes this property unique
Every room offers a lake view. The cottage is at the west end of the this all sports lake allowing for spectacular sunrises and quiet evenings as our end of the lake is a no-wake zone. A private drive set off the main road, and distance and privacy between neighbors make this the perfect place to be able to enjoy a Northern Michigan lake vacation without the worries of crowds. You can enjoy isolated privacy, explore the many back roads and trails, or just take in the natural beauty of the area. Ludington, Manistee and Traverse City are all an easy drive for those that prefer to venture out.
