Super clean home and it was stocked with plenty of everything you need! Communication was great from the hosts. We arrived late in the evening on our check in day and we were thankful a porch light had been left on for us and there were automatic lights as we approached the doors. The kids enjoyed the pool after a long day at the beach and we watched some of the stocked movies as a family winding down for the evening. Awesome hosts and awesome stay.
One of my favorite trips! Beautiful island and lots of quality time with the family. The home was perfectly located with easy and quick beach access. The pool was refreshing after being on the beach all day. And the house was extremely clean. Plenty of space for everyone including the fur babies. I would definitely recommend!!!!
This home had all that we needed for a family vacation. The pool was a perfect escape from the beach for our kids. The owner was on point with all that we needed - timely communication, clear instructions on check-in and out, and came quickly to our rescue when I mistakenly locked us out of the house. We had a wonderful reprieve from our normal life - so great!
It’s a nice property. Had plenty of kitchen items that we needed to fix dinner. Master bedroom could use a tv. Pool was very nice. Easy walking distance to the beach. Lots of sand toys for the kids and two wagons to transport things to the beach. Owners were easy to work with.
We have been coming to Saint George Island for 5 years now and this was by far the cleanest home that we have stayed in! And the pool was immaculate! Great home inside and out!
The property was amazing! So clean and the perfect location. The owner was extremely nice and he was very responsive. Hope to stay at this property again!
Are you referring to the two pieces of furniture your adult child broke by the pool or the chairs on the porch that were ripped during your stay? People complain about the price, when owners have to replace the amount of furniture your family destroyed - That's why.
If you do not want to leave your puppy behind this is a perfect place to go. The house was clean and relaxing. Don’t worry about beach acc The beach is just a short walk away. The pool was very nice also. In addition, our puppy really felt welcome when she found the closet with dog toys in it.
Wonderful location, close to beach, stores, restaurants(Paddy's :)). Somewhat dated from a decorative standpoint but very functional, clean, comfortable beds. Love the screened in porch right off the kitchen. Kids loved the pool. We had a golf cart which really helped with toting stuff to the beach. Highly recommend and would come again. Owner appears to live behind the house. He is very nice!
Great property! Clean. House has plenty of space for a family of 5 and a small dog. Pool was great! House is located right in the middle of everything. Ocean to the front, bay to the back, one side shopping/eating and the other side the state park. Lots of outside space to relax. Outside shower. For a family of 5 the grill was way to small. Would stay at this property again. St. George is a relaxing go at your own pace vacation.
Jeff was a great host. He was there to answer our questions and he gave us suggestions on things to do and places to eat. The house was clean, comfortable beds and furniture. The kitchen was fully stocked with nice dishes and cookware. The screened in porch was so appreciated to eat our dinner and play cribbage to stay away from bugs in the evening. The pool was very nice and kept clean. There was so many other little touches to mention. St. George Island is our favorite so far, and our stay at this house was the icing on the cake. We look forward to coming back!
My kids wanted the beach and a pool. All the pools on the island are small, but this one was slightly larger than most and perfect. The owner came most mornings and cleaned it. There is a beach access path right next to the house. No one seems to use it so no traffic, but we used it and it was a short block to the beach. There's tons of beach stuff, chairs, sand toys, boggie boards, etc. The kitchen has everything you need plus. We rented bikes and the paths are perfect for riding. The dog took his walks at the estuary which is a block behind the house. It's wonderful!! Everyone agrees we would come back!!
After hearing many great things about SGI, finally made it there for a weeklong family beach vacation - my spouse and our two adult children.
Finding just a 3 bedroom place was a bit of a challenge, so this property was ideal. The home was a comfortable size for the 4 of us. 3 good sized bedrooms, a common area that was a combined living room / kitchen and two outdoor patio areas. Everything was cleaned when we arrived, a good supply of dishes, silverware, and utensils. As mentioned by others, there is a small charcoal grill be the side of the house. We found it fine for grilling for the 4 of us. There is also a really good internet connection, so even though there is only one television in the living room area, our kids could easily stream in the bedrooms.
The pool was a great option for us. Very clean when we arrived and well maintained while we were there.
In the basement area, there is a collection of about 6-8 beach chairs, a beach wagon, and an assortment of beach toys for younger children.
Overall a very nice place. It does show a little wear and tear which is to be expected in a beach house.
4 adults and 3 children. Age 3-5. Three year old slept in an air mattress. The house was easy to find and easy to live in. Screened-in porch is great and the garage access makes it easy to unload after the walk from the beach. The outdoor shower works great to clean up after the beach.
The pool was perfect size for the kids, who all swam without life jackets. Plenty of sun around the pool until late in the day. Pool toys and beach toys galore. A few good beach chairs. But the wagons were rusty and tough.
The walk to the beach is simple and short, however the cut thru roads are not paved so no scooters.
The only real downside was that the trash dumpster was full when we got there and we had nowhere to put our bagged trash for 3 days. And the gravel is very rough in the feet. Wear shoes outside.
I would recommend this house to another family with small children.
My wife and I had a delightful time at this lovely home and we think you will too. It was just the two of us for an extended stay, it was a lot of room for just two but we were thankful for the spaciousness. My adult daughter and partner joined us for a few days and we were glad for the home's open concept and space this home enjoys. Most nights we could turn off the AC and open the screened windows while listening to the roar of the Gulf of Mexico a brief walk away. The stars at night were amazing with the back porch being a really dark spot for the best viewing.
The house includes strong RIO beach chairs, a beach umbrella, and a beach wagon to haul everything you need to the uncrowded beach. This house would be perfect for families (4 showers!) or those with pets.
The host Jeff was wonderful and gave us privacy but was also beyond helpful when we needed help. He tried to point us away from the tourist restaurants to places locals go for better food and prices. We wish we listened. We did however take his suggestion on exploring the Bayside of the Island and we took daily walks on quiet Pine Street (one block away) a local couple showed us a family nesting Great Horned
Owls! We visited every day and they allowed us to get VERY close.
We had a relaxing vacation away from snow and ice and
wherever you are from this home is a great home to return to from the sunshine, salt, and peace on this quiet gem of an island.
Property not as advertised; under constant owner surveillance
Wow. Where to begin. We took a risk by booking this property that had no reviews; I will never make that mistake again.
1. The owner edited the listing AFTER we arrived. It was advertised as having gulf views from a third top deck. The top gulf view portion was blocked off and we were not allowed to use it.
2. The owner actually lives 30 feet away, even though he does not disclose this. During conversations about privacy and our desire for social distancing due to Covid-19, the owner had every chance to disclose that he lives on the property and is watching you from his deck all day long, but he deliberately didn't disclose that.
3. When we arrived, the owner had given us the wrong code to get in. We called, texted, and messaged him through VRBO but did not get a response. 20 minutes later he showed up in the driveway. He blamed us for not being able to get in, and even when I SHOWED HIM THE WRONG CODE on my phone, he never apologized or accepted fault for his mistake. This is bad business.
4. The place was not clean. I wish I could attach pictures to this review. These guys obviously do not use a professional cleaning service. Hairs on the nightstands, dirty cabinets that took 12 (yes, 12) Clorox wipes to clean. There was a dirty paper towel in one of the beds.
The master shower was gross. The stickers on the bottom of the dirty were dirty and worn off, there were piles of clear grout stuck all over the tub, and it didn't drain properly.
5. Doors inside are so hard to open that both my 8 year old and 11 year old got stuck in the bathroom. The two adults had to put muscle in to it to open the doors. This is a huge safety issue. This meant 1/3 bathrooms was not usable for our children. The doors covering the master bedroom do not fully close. When you do close a door, it is so loud that you can't do it without waking the entire house up.
6. There is NO PRIVACY here. One of the owners (an older man) WALKED IN TO OUR DINING ROOM unannounced. You may find this hard to believe. I know I sure did. My family was having breakfast and this man came to the glass door and then proceeded to walk in to our rental before we could go open the door.
As icing on the cake, AFTER our stay the owner contacted me and told me we brought a dog without permission. We did not bring a dog, and they know that because they surveyed our every move for 10 days. If he thought we had a dog, why would he not have said something every day when he saw us??

We are sorry you didn’t enjoy your vacation in our well-kept house on this beautiful island. We are very disappointed and feel the review is unfair and falsely written: For the record the owners do not live on the property it is a single family structure occupied solely by the guests. The property does sit in a neighborhood setting. The island is primary sand dunes so yes a lot of the yards on this island have an open feel with the sandy landscape. People are here to enjoy the outside, that can mean you may have elderly people reading books, families enjoying meals on their decks or kids playing in adjacent pools.
The fourth deck, (the widow’s walk) has been closed to guests for three years, no where did I have that advertised, I did edit the listing by removing the drone image photographed from 50’ to 100’ above the roof looking over the entire property - I apologize if you thought you were going to have that viewpoint.
You presented a bunch of special requests that we followed to a T. One of those requests was for ALL beddings to be removed. I don’t understand how you can claim there was a dirty paper towel within one of the beds when there was NO beddings due to your own request!? We are following all Covid-19 cleaning procedures, the house sits empty for three day between guests and I can assure you 100% that I spend much more time cleaning this house compared to the property managed houses with their staff who are gone in under two hours.
An 80 year old man stops by, makes his way up the stair case onto the screened in deck to say hello and make sure everything is ok - now you’ve twisted that to seem like an invasion. Why didn’t you mention any of the house concerns with him, that’s why he stopped by? Along those same lines you mention showing me the wrong code and when we both saw an email where you had with the correct code and why when I arrived you already had the garage door open, only able to be unlocked from the inside, you move on like it’s not there, you’re presenting a skewed review. We welcome constructive criticism so we can fix problems and hope others reading this review will still give our house a chance as we feel this rating is unfair.
As my niece explains some people prefer a walled-in yard, again we are sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay on this beautiful sandy island.
The grandparents through grandkids and even the dog all loved St. George Island! Just a quarter mile from the ocean and plenty of in home entertainment for the stormy times. Perfect set up!
The house was a great size for our family of five and dog. The house was very clean. It was a short walk or golf cart ride to the beach. We enjoyed the pool after our relaxing time at the beach. Jeff was great with communicating and answering messages promptly. Overall, a wonderful stay!
Stayed a week with friends and loved it! Nice, roomy house, comfortable beds, private pool, great host.
Located 1 street over from the beach, a 5 minute walk.
Will definitely stay here again!!
The house has plenty of space to spread out with 3 bedrooms and multiple decks. The pool is nice if you want to relax at the house for a day. It’s nice this place is dog friendly, as there aren’t too many choices around these days. We did buy some trash bags and paper towels, so hopefully the next guests will have some!
We also live on the island and care for our beloved rental. Wether we are working in the yard or caring for the pool we believe in a philosophy of keeping the glam to a minimum yet meticulous about the cleanliness. We've lived on the island for over twenty years so have inherited Old School Florida values: simple, minimal, budget conscience, yet easily accessible.
Why they chose this property
Within walking distance to either the beach with its endless sugar sand shoreline, or the bay to explore the estuary's natural setting. Allowing good fishing or bird watching in either direction you care to wander.
Why we like not being beach front or tier 1, sometime you just want some privacy and relax in a pool without dozens of people walking past you.
The property is located within the golf cart zone at an easy distance to the local restaurants, bars and lighthouse. Yet far enough away to be in a quiet setting for relaxing evenings.
What makes this property unique
All the rooms are on one floor so you are not constantly climbing stairs.
The private pool is private no steady flow of beach activities.
Centrally located easy access to the center of the island with restaurants as well as the State Park on the East end for shell hunting.
Within the golf cart zone. Has a fully enclosed garage to safely park bikes, carts, fishing gear, or even your car.
