This property is an excellent choice for Yosemite visitors. It is well-equipped and near to the national park. The owner is helpful and communicative. We wish we could have stayed longer.
We had a wonderful 3 days in and around Yosemite staying at the house in Fish Canp. It is the perfect location from which to explore this magnificent park. We were so lucky to find this place and we are very grateful for such a wonderful place to stay.
We loved our stay. The kitchen was well stocked, there were plenty of linens. What we liked best was the ability to stretch out and relax after our day trips to Yosemite. The communication with the owner was very timely. Perfect for us.
We easily found the property and checked in with ease. The cabin was was clean, spacious and very well stocked. We enjoyed the deck outside and prepared a nice dinner. The beds were comfortable and we liked the proximity to Yosemite.
We stayed one night before going into Yosemite for a backcountry trip. I was a nice place for our group to rendezvous in town, make final preparations, have a clean, comfortable place to sleep. Our second time staying here.
Unfortunately we came through quickly this time, but the cabin was a great place to rest after a long day of hiking and taking in Yosemite sites. We slept great on the beds!
The location to the park was good! The cabin was nice, very rustic and in need of some repairs. The bathroom in my opinion doesn’t have a “working” shower. The hand held faucet isn’t mounted so taking a shower isn’t ideal. The shower curtain, which is really just several liners are old & grimy. Told the manager about this but nothing was done during our stay. The oven only had 1 rack so cooking multiple things at once wasn’t an option. Told the manager this as well. Also, the fridge stopped cooling the 2nd day here. Once again, manager didn’t come out and take a look or do anything. Luckily our food didnt spoil during our stay. I think this could be a nice place to stay if updates were made! Oh, mattress on bed is terrible.
Great location from the south entrance gate of Yosemite. Traveling to Mariposa was super close but it took about an hour to get to Yosemite valley or glacier point. The roads are very windy so it felt like it was a long tedious drive. The cabin had all the supplies we needed, like plenty of soap, toilet paper, coffee maker, etc.
The cabin did have some flaws though. The upper bathroom leaks down into the lower bedroom. We had to push the bed over to not get wet. Previous reviews have mentioned this leak so we assumed that it would have been fixed. This is going to be a serious problem for the owners if they don’t fix it soon!
The bottom floor bathroom did not have a place to put the shower nozzle above your head (hand held only). The shower curtain needed to be replaced. Had mildew all over it. The upstairs shower was super tiny where our friends said it was hard to even turn around in it.
Overall, I don’t think we would book this cabin again.
This was a great place for our trip of 6 people exploring Yosemite National Park. The property is only a 5–10-minute drive to the South Entrance of the park. John was very responsive when we needed more propane for the grill. Overall, we had a great experience.
While the cabin, itself, was charming, both bathrooms had major plumbing issues: Sink drains were clogged, so we had to brush our teeth and wash hands/faces at the kitchen sink; the downstairs claw foot tub pipes sprayed water on the bathroom floor whenever used, making it inoperable during the stay; and the ceiling of the downstairs (master) bedroom, which was directly below the upstairs shower, leaked. We contacted our host immediately and in the following days of the visit but did not receive a response or assistance.

Good location, not great property
While the location was convenient to Yosemite, the property has significant plumbing issues such that the sink and showers barely drain and even leaked after a very, very short shower (water on to get wet, water off to scrub, and water off to quickly rinse) through the ceiling into the bedroom below. Upon contacting the owner, there appeared to be no concern as if they were already aware - While I wouldn’t expect a place to be perfect, plumbing seems basic. Very disappointing experience and feeling misled. The place appears much nicer in photos. Wish I had not rented.

Great House/Location but Needs Some Work
This is billed as "luxury" but I would question that. The main floor of the house is as pictured and is very nice. The bedroom is directly off living room which is odd but certainly ok. The bathroom sink is minute and there is no storage area. Also, the drain was totally clogged the entire time we were there and no one came to fix it, so had to brush teeth, etc. in kitchen. Also, there was a dryer full of towels and sheets upon arrival so had to fold all and put away. The upstairs bedrooms and baths were not used by us but we did look at them and they were a little creepy. Staircase going upstairs is extremely steep with no hand rail. Upstairs bathroom was basic. The deck surrounding main floor was not swept nor were there chairs for sitting. Upstairs deck also very messy and unkempt. Last but not least, on our final night we were visited by a mouse. The area is great and the house has tremendous potential. Needs better maintenance and some TLC.
Our stay at John’s cabin in the fish camp was fantastic. It’s the perfect place from which to explore Yosemite. The cabin itself is well kitted out and clean. We spent evenings in the lounge playing cards in the lounge in front of the fire.
Thanks for a great stay.
This is a very nicely appointed cabin, the photos are entirely accurate. It can comfortably sleep six, there are two queen beds upstairs and one queen bed downstairs. The kitchen has everything you could want. The internet worked great, and the TV worked well with streaming services.
This cabin is in a quiet, forested neighborhood full of modern private cabins. The location is perfect -- it is only ~ 1/4 mile off of Highway 41, just far enough off the highway that you don't hear any road noise. There is a small general store, just down the road in Fish Camp.
There are plenty of dining options within a 20 minute drive of this cabin. We chose to eat one night at Tenaya Lodge, one night at the Wawona Hotel, and one night at El Cid's in Oakhurst.
There are also plenty of hiking options nearby. We highly recommend the hike at Chilnualna Falls near Wawona! And of course, all the amazing sights of Yosemite Valley are only an hour away. The cabin sits at an altitude of ~ 5000 feet, which works well for those who want to sleep and acclimatize to the altitude of Yosemite National Park - most of the hikes and other sights between the Yosemite South Gate and Yosemite Valley are at altitudes between 4000 and 7000 feet.
Check-in and checkout were a breeze, John the owner was very prompt in providing us directions, advice, access codes, etc. Another great VRBO experience, we definitely hope to stay here again!
