Second Chances: Short distance to the surf!

Our getaway "Second Chances" is yours to enjoy! This is a fun place to soak up the sun, take in the ocean breeze and enjoy all that Oak Island has to offer. This home was moved from Caswell Beach in 2016 (just up the road on the same island). It is the result of blood, sweat, grace, divine intervention along with a lot of luck! We want you to enjoy what we have worked hard to restore. This has been a labor of love for our family. Destined to be torn down due to the value of the land, we were able to connect with the previous owner, house movers, and some wonderful contractors (too may people to thank) that helped us assemble this home in the heart of Oak Island. Now this house has a second chance at bringing folks the joy that only a beach house can accomplish. Oak Island, meanwhile, is one of the few South facing islands so you can see the sun rise and set from the beach! The Oak Island pier is not far and free to the public for walking (pay to fish). Surf, fish, sun bathe, or just sit in sand and take in the refreshing feel that can only be obtained with that ocean air! While you will likely be out and about at the beach we hope you will also enjoy our house. You can even see the ocean...really tiny from the end of the driveway LOL! (not an ocean view house) The home offers many amenities including...

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
Check Out is 11am. Please clean all pots and pans and return to cabinets.
Please leave towels hanging in the bathrooms. You don't have to strip the beds. Our cleaners will collect the sheets & towels.
Please pull the trash cans to the curb before you leave.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Trash day is Tuesday. Please take trash to curb Monday evening for pickup.
You can adjust the thermostat during your visit. Prior to departure, please reset as follows, o If A/C is on – set to 74 o If Heat is on – set to 65
Countertops are coated resin. Please use plastic cutting boards. The basement is owner storage and guests are not permitted.

House was as described. Beds comfortable, clean, kitchen had all we needed, though we did not cook. Location was great. Walked to the beach and to a couple of restaurants. Enjoy Ruby’s for breakfast and Koko Cabana for Dinner. Shopped in Southport and had A Slice of Haven for lunch (delicious). Host was easy to contact and responded quickly. We did not have any problems finding the property, accessing it, or with anything during our stay.

Second Chances OKI beach house

Our first time staying at this house and we enjoyed every bit of it! The house is a short walk to the beach, close to several of our favorite restaurants, and even in a great neighborhood. Our kids made friends over the week being here which made it even more memorable! The owners were very responsive, friendly, and helpful with any and every question we had. A great place to stay. We will be booking again!

Great Place to Stay!

Tranquil Harbour was a great place to stay for our family vacation. The place is very clean, and close enough to the beach to make for a wonderful vacation. We found it easiest to drive the short distance to the public parking rather than have to carry all our stuff, but there was always parking available. Krista was easy to contact and she answered questions quickly.

This was a great place to stay. It was clean and good location. We walked to the beach. The place had lots of games that we enjoyed. The kitchen was helpful to use to cook meals. There is lots of room. I would definitely recommend to others.

The property was exactly as listed and Krista was timely and thorough with her communication. Great place for a family beach trip or a getaway with a group of friends. It was nice to have the grill outside - though it may be time to replace it as it is starting to fall apart.

Fun in the Sun ☀️

We had a great stay! Everything was clean and tidy when we arrived. The owners thought of everything that would be needed (plenty of toilet paper, towels and wash clothes, detergent, hand soap, trash bags, ect). I highly recommend this house to anyone staying in Oak Island.

Now this house has a second chance at bringing folks the joy that only a beach house can accomplish.

Why they chose this property

Direct beach access (no canal to cross), centrally located (food and shopping very near by), and lots of space to hang out. We almost did not put the house on pilings but we are so glad we did! Even when the weather is foul you can hang out under the house and watch it rain. (The enclosed section under the house is owner storage that is unfinished and not open to guests.) The beach access is a close distance that you can walk or drive! Likewise, Shagger Jacks and The Koko Cabana are just blocks away. They offer great food and beverages.

What makes this property unique

The close proximity to the Oak Island pier is a real plus! Free to walk and the Koko Cabana restaurant is a nice place to eat oceanside. On the ICW (Intracoastal Waterway) side of the island you can find the Crab Pier that is a public access dock on the marsh for spectacular views and maybe some fishing at high tide. Bring your kayaks for the public kayak access areas including the very nice launch by the recreation department.
